You can't carryon peanut butter or jelly in a jar or bottle or anything else because its a "cream" or a "gel" , I got mine taken, but you can have it in a form of a sandwhich...You can more than likely pack it in your bag but a Dr.'s note might help. Or contacting the airline directly..

Well in life you should be passionate...if not in general then for one or two things...I don't see how cookies wouldn't be high up on anyone's priority list!!!

double ditto on the kinnitoo's...i can eat a whole dang bag of them in one sitting, which is incredibly unhealthy but oh so delicious with milk...in fact, I'm going to order some right now

That is absolutely WONDEFUL news!!! Hearing a company that pretty much majored in gluten say that they absolutely know that there is a need for a gluten free pizza is an amazing thing. Thanks for sharing...now I must google search to find a UNO's in my area!!
-
mm...I'm going to try that! Thank you

Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles are both gluten free!!!

I eat Tiger Bars, in the peanut butter and honey, or the regular...They taste great!!

There are mixed reviews about grilled chicken at McDonald's because of some sort of marinate or filler or something, I can't remember exactly. I haven't heard anything about the Grilled Chicken at Burger King though, the risk of CC would obviously be extremely high. Might be worth checking out though!

Trix became gluten free several months ago, there were a few posts on this site...Cocoa Puffs also hit the market as gluten free during the same time in a "new chocolatey mix" box...Cocoa puffs however are NOT gluten free, that didn't last very long...I had a reaction to Trix and have not tried them again, however, I tried them when they first were named gluten-free and figured maybe there was some serious CC'n going on...General Mills has recently come out with several cereals that are considered gluten-free, which is exciting...but I miss my Raisin Nut Bran and my Honey Bunches of Oats...or Honey Nut Cheerios...haven't been able to find a good subsitute yet...Cero's didn't work out for me, neither did Perky o's. just didn't have the right taste!!
It is exciting that a big company like General Mills is making moves on the gluten-free front...maybe there's hope for other companies soon

I once got sick walking by the bakery section, they must have been doing something with the flour as I walked by, I did not realize it until 15 minutes later when my stomach ache started happening. I have been wheat free for mostly 10 years & now totally gluten-free for 3 years so that is a total of 13 years, so some of these other people that it has not happened to might experience it later.
& then some people do not, I think it is those people that continuously get a little gluten in the replacement gluten-free things that they eat. for instance I cannot eat Diamond Nut Thins - will give me a gluttening every time. But people in my support group eat them & all the other stuff that I cannot eat. So I think if you are mostly grain free & live in a gluten-free house then your chances of being super sensitive are much greater.
there have been other threads on other boards about this same thing. There seems to be a lot of newbies on here that really have not "experienced it all yet" & seem to have a closed mind to other people's suffering.
Now I walk into the grocery store on the opposite side of the bakery & just bypass that section altogether. & if I happen to be going down the baking aisle & they are unloading flour bags - I run to the check out stand. because when they are bagging the shelves & throwing those flour bags you can see the flour poofing all over the place.
I'm hoping that this isn't a direct blow to the people that were offering help and suggestions to the initial poster. Just because I have not been on this bored as long as you does not mean that I am not experienced, I just have never heard of anyone getting glutened by breathing air before, such as the fumes from a BBQ or walking by a bakery. Surely, if you're in the same proximity as a bag of flour that explodes and you walk through it or it gets on you, then there could more than likely be a problem. But perhabs there was something consumed while camping out that you ate that maybe was not gluten-free. Sure, more people are more sensitive than others, but I don't believe anyone on this particular post was being closed minded to anyone elses suffering.

To the best of my knowledge, you can't get glutened by smelling gluten...or dreaming about eating Krispy Kreme donuts...I myself have asked about this!

60 years is amazing!!! I've been in this situation several times where I've either picked something up on the way there that I knew I could eat or I took my own food. Sometimes you could get a salad, but be careful of dressings, or once you get there you could ask to speak to a manager or chef. Maybe you'll find out where you're going earlier enough that you'd still have time to call!!

Slim Fast has a new drink out that is gluten free and lactose free...they're pretty good!

I've made a veggie pizza with Chebe pizza mix, and it was delicious.
However, with Chebe, you either love it or you hate it. I love it

Can you make this in a premade pie crust without bisquick?? perhaps using gluten-free flour?
123 Gluten Free biscuit mix might work? I dunno...

There's a constant debate about whether McDonald's fries are gluten-free or not...they don't actually contain wheat but there has been a lot of issues with that, you could probably search the page and see that debate taking place on the board. I've eaten at Chick-fil-a several times without getting sick, they have a seperate fryer for their fries...so maybe your children have an allergy with something in the oil? I've heard of several Wendy's having dedicated fryers, as does Steak and Shake. I'm sure there are several places, some Burger Kings...just have to call and ask if they share fryers! I know that small towns generally are more willing to work with you. The Wendy's in my town knows me by name and have since switched to a dedicated fryer...not completely for me but just because it is a bit healthier! I'm not sure if it's a good thing that my Wendy's knows me by name...perhaps I should cut back a bit

What about anything within Hershey Park...not in Hershey itself?

Ok, So I OD'd on ordering pie crusts and didn't realize they came 2 to a pack, so now I have like 4 extra pie crusts taking up some much needed space in my freezer, I'm going to make a quiche tonight but I wanted to know some good recipes for pies, ANY kind, doesn't have to be dessert, that you use with a pre-baked pie crust!!! thanks

sprinkles aren't gluten free? aren't they just sugar?

Like I said in my previous post...Talk to the teacher, not the principal, not the school district, the teacher of the class. My mom (family and consumer science/home ec teacher extrodinarre) always works with children to make sure that everyone has something special to eat...if you're making pasta, she brought in rice pasta for her students, she's had 6 celiacs since I've been diagnosed. More people are willing to work with you than you think! Let's not rip the kids from the classes just yet...who knows...we could have the next Emeril gluten-free style growing up among us...
-
Don't skip out on a class like that just because you're afraid the teacher won't work around you! My mom is a home ec teacher and she's always worked with children with allergies and things like that even before I was diagnosed...Many more people have celiac than we all realize, so the teacher might even know someone that does!! Learning how to cook gluten-free can only help people in the class too...This means that everyone in that class would become knowledgable on our issues, think about how positive that could be!! They can't force you to eat anything anymore and I promise if you do the research and talk to the teacher before hand it would be beneficial. Now, if the teacher says she can't help you *which is a crock* then by all means, opt out of the class...but I'd be suprised if this happens!

There is a chick fil a in one part of the terminal that is fairly new. I flew in (I think A?) the last time I went to see my family!!
