  1. yeah, I've noticed . . . when I try to tell anyone about this thread, I get that "uh huh, sure sounds funny" with a look that says something else . . . like . . .wow, she really needs to get out more . . . or . . . how do I get away without agitating her? Remember what this emoticon is for? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? WHAT!!???!! Then why...
  2. Rainbow colored Care Bears and Chuck Norris coming out . . . the parade has turned a corner here. Has anybody checked into getting a permit? I'm pretty sure we're gonna need a permit. By the way, both excellent and excessive silliness. I predict a short reign for the benevolent Queen Bev I.
  3. Oh My GaWWWd!! Please tell me you just found that and didn't already have it in your favorites list. Or has this whole thread been manipulated by you just so you could showcase all your favorite Chuck Norris bits.
  4. Me too . . . sigggghhhh . . . Oh well, I couldn't come up with any special talent and I know they were going to stick me with the scooper. Either that or fetching Perrier and removing all of the brown M&M's from the candy bowl for Mr Norris.
  5. Here is the link for the Tyler Florence recipe that was mentioned earlier with instructions for when to use the beer (It IS for the batter and not for saucing the cook ) Open Original Shared Link
  6. Chuck Norris facts: But it looks like no bullets. Just candy corn and marshmallows. Will that be manly enough for Chuck? We could have him wrangle the Care Bears. I'm sure that would please DoTL.
  7. OK, I say we axe the machine guns and go with the super soakers loaded with mojitos and sparkling grape juice (but not loaded in the same gun at the same time - that would be very very bad).
  8. You can not stay in such an unhealthy environment. If he won't get help with counseling, you need to seriously consider what you daughter is being exposed to - what will she consider to be OK in terms of how people treat each other. My aunt was verbally and psychologically abused - something that I witnessed and we only visited a few times. I never knew...
  9. I have to tell you, I read that, got to the word *sparkling*, read *sparklers" in it's stead and then just ASSUMED the rest of the sentence. . . . and we will have sparklers . . . Now where would the Sillies suggest the sparklers go? Why I do believe they should be on the tassels. Whirling sparkler tassels! Oh What a Show That Would Be!
  10. Well then, maybe I should just stop while I'm ahead. I could probably send you some if you like. She has been known to cut it herself. Just on the sides - you know - to get that mullet look.
  11. Well, I've made a few calls and a pulled a few strings and I've managed to get use of an old Open Original Shared Link. We will have to provide our own singer (the former Miss America has a previous committment) - I believe Emily was up for that. Plus, we will need to provide our own machine guns as the orginal float was never equipped with them. I...
  12. DagNabbit ( my great-grandma's swear word of choice ) just lost my post!!!! Now I have to start all over - Don't know if I will be as witty the second time around!
  13. So, I'm reading Emily's post and I snicker. My son who was in the room asked why was I laughing. I said I read something funny. He wanted to hear it. I told him that he wouldn't understand. He said he wanted to hear it anyway. So I read it out loud. Then I asked him if he thought it was funny. He said "Well, it had some funny words. Now if it had...
  14. Yes, I have to travel around a bit, but I did that before anyway. One store has better produce. One store has cheaper prices on snacks and cereals. One store is the only one that carries the kind of salad dressing that I like. Now, gluten-free items get thrown in the mix . . . plus a few more stores, too I get most of my stuff at one store and then...
  15. Barb, I think you have an advantage . . . that you are not afraid to bake and therefore not dependant on store bought mixes. I have purchased some good mixes but I think homemade is much better. I don't think you need to have your whole house go gluten free but if you don't, you will need to take precautions. Vigilant crumb control. In addition to...
  16. Some docs will diagnose based on a positive dietary response (not many, but some). You may want to keep track of a few key dates for your appointment with the GI. Such as the date you started dairy free and gluten free. Summarize your history for the GI like you have done for us and add dates and weights. You may want a copy of your childs weight/height...
  17. Ahhhhh, so now we know who is the fairest twirler of them all. Congratulations Queen Bev . . . (hey, we don't have to do what she tells us, do we? It's just honorary, right? She just gets to wave in parades and break bottles of champagne on Susie, I mean dinghies, I mean boats/ships, right?)
  18. I saw him, too. That CAN NOT be a coincidence. He heard the tassels twirling!!
  19. We liked the GFP muffin mix but it did not keep well for us - by 3rd morning, they were pretty hard. My homemade banana muffins (with choc chips, of course ) did much better. I'm sure the banana helps keep it soft and moist. I think a lot of the boxed mixes have an option for turning them into a banana muffin, so you may want to go that route to help...
  20. Naaawww, I say you send the inconsiderate family members to the other room . Quarantine them and their food . . . make them stand at the door of their room and ask for somebody to bring them something to eat. Tell them that until they can behave like considerate grown-ups, they can just stay in time-out in their own room. OK - maybe not, but fun...
  21. Just in case you don't know . . . you need to stay on gluten until your biopsy. FYI, gluten free bread tastes better if it is toasted. It is also better (IMO) if it is homemade. Even the mixes (with a bread machine if that will work for you) are better. But right now . . . see my first note - you need to stay on gluten. Try the Tinkyada brand of...
  22. If you want Richard to schwing by . . . I believe the magic word is Tassels . . . Tassels? . . . Taaaasssssselllls! Shucks Tom, enough with the corn - we've had an Earful already! We did not make it to the Scratch Kitchen (Sorry, Susie). I did look them up in the yellow pages, though. I don't know if the Tater Tot Queen does gluten...
  23. Not only did Bev turn the page . . . I think she was trying to fill the whole dang thang herself!
