  1. I just changed my avatar, too. It wouldn't work at first. It showed up in "My Controls" but not on any of my posted messages. I did a search under this topic on "avatar" and found a thread that told me that I needed to clear out my "cookies" from internet explorer. That's what worked for me. As far as the personal photo goes, did you meet the size requirement...
  2. I went back and checked the other thread . . . Her last post DID say she was scheduled for 2pm. It also said she was having regular contractions. I'm sure she'll fill us in when she gets a chance . . . say, in a month or two . Congratulations Angie and Welcome Annika!
  3. I loooove goo gone!. It will also get the adhesive off of the clothes when you accidently wash something of your kids that had a sticker on it - from preschool or whatever - and you didn't notice and it went through the washer and dryer.
  4. Hadleygirl, So sorry that you are still looking for answers. I saw that you did a stool test. Was that through Enterolab? Did it check for gluten intolerance? Did anybody do any gene testing to see if she is genetically at risk? There is nothing to stop you from trying a gluten-free diet. There are plenty of people on this board who did not...
  5. All of Elmer's products are gluten free except for some finger paints. We did a paper mache project with my son last spring and just used elmer's glue that was watered down. My "recipe" which I got off the internet, was 2 parts glue to 1 part water. I did not measure anything, I used a little more water than they said, and the project turned out fantastic...
  6. And just to add . . . In their data base, Clan Thompson will give the date that a particular item was last verified with the manufacturer.
  7. You might need to change your display mode. When you are in a thread, such as this one, the first message will have an options button in the black header on the right. Click that button and under "Display Modes" click on "Standard".
  8. I was in the room for my daughter's. They knocked her out completely. For my husband's (eight years ago and a different doc), the said they would have two levels of anesthesia. With the first, he would still be able to "take orders" : move, swallow, etc . . . he would be totally relaxed and wouldn't remember any of it. Then after they got the camera in...
  9. I will have to agree with JennyC that knowing the manufacturers that disclose gluten sources on the label would be the best way to go . . . Unfortunately, when I'm at the store, I can only remember Kraft. When I get around to it, I plan on making my list (with tiny writing, kind of like what you see on a label ) and laminating it so that it can take the...
  10. Ha!! Don't you mean Easy As Pie!
  11. You can get the fries at Cheeseburger in Paradise - I believe they pan fry them for you.
  12. I bought the Clan Thompson list - the one where you get the updates every three months. I got the one for my Palm Pilot so that I can take it to the store with me. I had been thinking about it and then the deciding factor was when we went on vacation this summer. The closest grocery store is about a 35 minute drive from where we stay. Needless to say...
  13. I looked into a business out of my home - decorated/fancy cookies (prior to my daughter's diagnosis). In Indiana, the board of health would NOT licence your family's kitchen. It had to be a separate kitchen from the one you use to make your family's meals. The person I talked to suggested putting together a second kitchen in my garage or basement. She...
  14. He He . . . Great minds think alike . . . or maybe it's two moms who refuse to give up rice crispy treats.
  15. Amber - just because you "felt" fine doesn't mean that the damage wasn't being done. I think there are quie a few Celiacs that are asymptomatic or that medication covers their symptoms. My daughter's symptom was acid reflux that got better with medication but didn't go away. At one point, they were talking about doubling her dose - how much damage would...
  16. Log Cabin - Country Kitchen is OK (all the others are not). Aunt Jemima is OK and so is Eggo syrup.
  17. Welcome Lukas!! and Congrats Stef!! Take good care of your baby and yourself. Can't wait to see some pictures. Now, if there had been money involved with that baby poll, I wouldn't have come close on any of the answers. . .
  18. No, you only need one and there are a small percentage that don't even need one. DQ2 is the more common one and just because you have it, doesn't mean that you have (or will get) Celiac Disease. It means you are genetically at risk - but so is about 39% of the population (based on my son's gene test).
  19. The list that I subscribe to says that Mrs. Buttersworth is NOT gluten-free. Aunt Jemima Butter Rich, Butter LIte, Lite, and Original are all OK. Aunt Jemima that is found in frozen food products is NOT. Eggo Syrup is OK. Log Cabin - Country Kitchen is OK. Publix and Safeway are OK.
  20. When I was travelling frequently, a long, long, time ago as a young single female to a place that I felt uncomfortable to be out by myself after dark . . . I went to the grocery store after my work day was done, and just bought a few "groceries" for my meals and ate in my room. Even if I had to throw half of it away because I couldn't take it with me...
  21. Miracle Whip is a Kraft product so just read the label - they will call out their gluten if they have it. Now, that being said, I've got some in the fridge and it's OK. I'm not sure about Miracle Whip Light, though - don't have any in the house to check.
  22. My daughter's only symptom of Celiac was GERD that was better but not gone with medication. After her scope, even though she was on Prevacid at the time, she had a lot of reflux (regurgitation for her) for a couple of hours. She had another procedure about three weeks later where she had to eat eggs with a radioactive dye and they scanned her tummy every...
  23. I don't maintain a gluten-free kitchen, but I only do gluten-free baking. The gluten is prepackaged stuff - bread, cereal, cookies . . . I was making icing not too long ago and the mixer speed was a little high. It threw powdered sugar every where and there was a small cloud of it in the air. That's when I decided that I would only do the gluten free...
  24. We use the Kroger brand Zippy Zoo.
