  1. SGWhiskers gave you some good feedback. Three is too young to understand. You're going to have to take precautions. Two pieces of advice from me: First, I'm assuming the other kids are older and if you don't want to take the whole house gluten free, you need to enlist their help. They need to keep their food/snacks away from her . . . and not eat them...
  2. Ooooooooo . . . a heated curl-up bed . . . sounds good!! But no scat mats for me or I'm outta there!!! . . . as opposed to now, where I'm not too useful at all . . . it's this dang computer. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!
  3. ...and if it works for Becky, I just might give it a go. I've set a goal to lose 18 pounds by June 1st. I lost about 21 pounds last spring/summer only to gain about 10 of it back - 5 of that was between Thanksgiving and New Years. I would think I would lose weight fairly quickly on the cat food diet.
  4. Yeah? . . . so how many mats would that take?
  5. Hows about surrounding your inventory of cat food by shock mats?
  6. Dang!!! I had not thought of that!!! . . . yep, too late now . . . . . . and Karen, Hubby was the one who did most of the work. I knew she had a good shot at it as this was right up his alley as far activities go . . . "Hey, let's go to the State Fair . . . we can get a picture with the ferris wheel, with a clown, on the tractor, with a turkey...
  7. Update: First, to bring all psillies up to speed . . . Skeeter (code name for me daughter) participated in a scavanger hunt at her orthodontist's office. She had to get her picture taken (with a banner from the office or wearing her T-shirt which had the office's name on it) with/at 100 different items/locations. Stuff like . . . in the produce aisle...
  8. How old is she? . . . I think advice on strategies to help her stick to the diet will depend on her age.
  9. I'm losing track . . . it seems like everything Jess (and Loey) write is now a euphemism for . . . ummmm . . . hanky-panky. Do champagne, breakfast and fireworks now all mean "riding the broomstick?"
  10. Hi Hazeleyes, If you are from the Indy area, there is a local support group that holds beginner's meetings . . . provide info on food, shopping and area restaraunts to help you get started . . . also meet some people in person that are going through the same thing you are . . . Here's a link to some info Open Original Shared Link
  11. We've used Ortega and I think Old El Paso both just fine . . . I don't remember which taco seasoning is made by which company, but ConAgra and Unilever and Kraft will list any sources of gluten in their labeling so generic "spices" or "natural flavoring" will disclose "(from barley)" or whatever if it is the source. Off the top of my head, the only packaged...
  12. I'll just use Nik's . . . Happy New Year Everyone . . . it's raining and I'm off to go birding . . . apparently I have lost me mind.
  13. . . . and a Happy New Year to Shroom!!! . . . the rest of youse guys have to wait a bit longer!! Shroomie, we had an earthquake here yesterday . . . of course we missed it as we were still at my Dad's house . . . made me think of you.
  14. Not pregnant and no pink eye here . . . guess I'm way ahead of Rayshelle.
  15. I thought it was excelllent!! You done good. Back from Dad's . . . ahhhhhhhhh . . . relaxing wif a hard cider ( I'm really liking this stuff) We did good, only came back with a baby gate (He tries to load us up with all kinds of sh!t stuff that he no longer wants/needs). And don't get any ideas, I'm giving the baby gate to a friend with a puppy...
  16. Kids, Work and Travel Left me tie-erd but happy Refrigerator Is that better?
  17. I use Flying Horse (it's the only brand that they carry). We have never had any issues with it. I use it mostly for my cake/cupcake recipe so it's not something that we ingest on a daily basis (I use Authentic Foods Fine Ground Brown Rice Flour in the recipe for my everyday flour blend). I prefer the Flying Horse brand quite a bit over Bob's Red Mill because...
  18. OK . . . I will get to work on it but first . . . my favorite Haiku: Haiku's are easy. But sometimes they don't make sense. Refrigerator.
  19. So far she's been gone about 5 hours . . . methinks they are congratulating each other on only having one glass of wine. I'm stuffed . . . and gassy.
  20. Well . . . she just puts me to shame doesn't she . . . Mornin' All!!! Have a great day. Cinnamon Rolls at my house . . . ready in about an hour . . . see you then. (Pajama attire required)
  21. Santa's up late . . . it's past midnight here so let me be the first to wish all me psillies Merry Christmas!!!
  22. Who let Oscar out? Oscar, it's so unlike you to be so festive . . . Have you been drinking?? . . . with Saint Nik?
  23. Have just realized . . . we have not watched "A Christmas Story" yet this year. My kids use the phrase "Fra-GEE-lay . . . must be Italian" year round. Tried a new recipe from the secretary at my kids' school . . . in theory, it looked good and easy . . . in practice, it has bonded to the pan. May have to pitch it (pan and all).
  24. I'm glad to hear you are going to give it a several months . . . some people see a big difference within days . . . some people take longer. Any input from your mom on how you did when you were gluten free? Why did you go back on it? (It was common to think that you could outgrow it.) I've switched to hard cider. I was not a big beer drinker...
  25. The Udi's bread says soy free. The Bisquick does not list soy as an ingredient but lists a "may contain soy" disclaimer.
