  1. Weight loss is a classic symptom, however, it has been shown that many people actually gain weight with Celiac disease. Toxins and gas in your body begin to collect along with swelling due to the gluten irritating your system. Have you been on the gluten-free diet for very long? After 2 months of the gluten-free diet, my distended stomach went down and...
  2. Ursa Major, I apologize for the delayed response - I didn't see your post. My husband has high numbers, but his motility is low. I know about male infertility to gluten, however, he is not very open to trying the diet. He is, of course, supportive of me being on the diet He has been tested and came back negative for Celiac (which, I know, is not...
  3. Hi Roxie! The same thing happened to me I was the same slight weight from high school up until I was diagnosed at 30. I thought I was just lucky, I eat whatever I want and never gain weight. Well, after going gluten-free I put on 20 pounds in a year!!!! I went up two dress sizes! I know that I'm a healthy size/weight for my height but, it's still takes...
  4. Hello, I've posted on here before about infertility issues. We have been trying for almost three years to conceive. I was certain that I was the cause of our difficulties conceiving. I've been gluten free for four years, however, I've had a problem w/ cysts and possible tubal blockage. After having an evaluation with a specialist, it was determined...
  5. Hello! Just wondering if anyone has encountered DH breakouts caused by stress? I've been strictly gluten-free for almost 5 years. After starting the diet, my horrible DH went away. I would get a mild breakout every once in a great while from being glutened. However, I have experienced moderate breakouts on both of my shoulders for the past couple of...
  6. The entire line from OrganicVille is gluten-free (labeled clearly) and really tasty! You can find them at most major stores, including giant sizes at CostCo!
  7. Thanks so much for the info Tephie and BlueEyedAmanda! My nerves are getting the best of me! Have a great week!
  8. Hello Ladies! After trying to conceive for nearly 2 years, my OBGYN urged me to go to a fertility specialist - my first appointment is on Monday. Needless to say, I'm terrified! I really have no idea what to expect on my first visit. Please let me know if any of you have been to a fertility doctor and what your experience was on your initial visit...
  9. I recommend using San-J soy sauce (labeled as wheat free on the front - watch out, there are two formulations, one has wheat in it). I have made my own teryaki, which was really good. However, there are brand like Thai kitchen that have awesome Plum Sauce and Sweet Red Chili sauce too!
  10. I stumbled across the Han's All Natural chicken sausages at Costco - they are clearly labeled gluten-free! They have several flavors and the are VERY tasty!
  11. I'm afraid nothing will replace the Thin Mint However, I stumbled across the Gluten Freeda mint double chocolate chip cookies at my local healthstore and let me tell you, they were pretty awesome! My friends didn't know they were gluten free! You can find them in the freezer section. The dough comes in premade balls, sealed in a bucket-like container...
  12. Hello! My reaction time is usually 15 - 20 minutes for a heavy glutening or as long as two hours - depends on the amount for me. It usually takes me a day or two to recover. If you're sure his reaction isn't to food, could it be his/your toiletries? Have you checked out his/your lotion, powder, and shampoo? At that age, they are more apt to putting...
  13. Hello! I experienced the same problem of gaining weight after being diagnosed. The thing that helped me most was avacados. It's rich in food value and healthy fat. I ate corn tortilla chips and guacamole non-stop after diagnosis. It helped me to steadily gain the weight back. Hope this helps!
  14. Hello there! I'm afraid I don't know what's on your elimination diet, however, I recommend an avacado and tomato salad (cube both fruits, drizzle w/ olive oil, lemon, balsamic and sea salt - if your diet allows, throw in some feta cheese and some olives). As for sweet potatos, I like to slice them up, arrange on a cookie sheet, spray them with olive...
  15. Helllo! For side dishes, you could do skillet fried sweet potatoes, black beans, or grilled polenta (you can even get it premade in a tube - just check the ingredients). For dinner, I like to make Han's All Natural Italian Sausages (clearly labeled gluten free - Costco) grilled, roasted potato wedges brushed w/ olive oil & sea salt, and a...
  16. These responses are cracking me up! So glad I'm not the only one experiencing this... The Good 1. Cookies and Cakes from Sweet Addictions Bakery in Montclair, Calif. (tastes like the real thing!) 2. Tomato Basil Bread from Whole Foods 3. Brown Rice Pasta from Trader Joes The Bad 1. Nana's cookies - they look delectable, but they taste like...
  17. Hi everyone! Did anyone see the article on MSC.com? This morning's "Hot Topic" is Celiac and the gluten-free diet Open Original Shared Link If you want to view it, check this link out this morning as they tend to change topics throughout the day. It's just a blurb - but it made the news!
  18. I had the very same thing. The breakouts started out between my fingers (which very painful) and began to travel all over my arms/legs. I've read that the breakouts can manifest just about anywhere, it's different for everyone. After going gluten free, most of them went away in several weeks. I had a couple of patches that were stubborn and took several...
  19. Do you have a Trader Joes by you? If so they have many options for quick gluten-free meals (there's a gluten-free shopping list on their website). Shelton Farms has tasty healthy soups/chilli, all cleary labled on the front if they are gluten-free or not (most are). Amy's is great, they even have family portions of enchiladas (both varieties are gluten...
  20. I'm SO glad you posted this!!! I had this very experience for months when my celiac response had escalated (prior to diagnosis). I thought I was going crazy. I tried to explain it to my doctors...but, they too thought I was crazy. I was promplty put on zanex (which amplified the strange feeling). I felt like a zombie. It almost felt like an out of...
  21. You may want to check out Open Original Shared Link in NY city. They use alternative ingredients instead of wheat, gluten, dairy, casein and eggs. They're coming out to California too, I can't wait!!!
  22. Ladies, thank you all for your info/suggestions. I'm just so frustrated - I feel so helpless I can't take clomed (sp?) because I have problems w/ cysts. I appears that I'm ovulating and that my levels are good. My husband has been tested and has an exceptionally high count. I guess I was hoping that it would just happen the "old fashioned" way.......
  23. Hello! I was just wondering if anyone has had luck w/ the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor? I've been trying to get pregnant for a couple of years without success. Please let me know if it's worth the $200. Many thanks!

  25. Through my 20's I experienced terrible hot flashes at night (thought I was going through "the change" a little early). I had bronchitis on and off most of my life and lingering asthma (I would wheeze most of the time - even after a puff off my inhaler). I was diagnosed at 30. After going gluten-free for a year, I noticed a huge difference. I didn't need...
