  1. My 3 year old, Julia, had very positive blood work. She has classic symptoms. We're ready to go gluten-free. The GI presents the biopsy like it is a given, an absolute. When I said I was uncomfortable with general anesthesia, he just discounted any argument and pretty much left the room, sending the nurse in to schedule the biopsy. So now I...
  2. We've had symptoms since May, positive blood work last week, and are just starting gluten-free.
  3. I know to talk to him about the biopsy and diet but what other questions did you ask at your first GI apt? What should we expect (I want to be able to prep Julia)?
  4. A few of you recommended that book but I haven't been able to find it. The girls love "Eating Gluten-free with Emily" so much that I'm excited to buy another book like it.
  5. I don't know about baby doll alive but I wanted to mention that there are Cabbage Patch dolls now that have "magic messy faces" when you "feed" them. There is no gluten, just cold water. I just bought one at Target. It was on clearance! A big sister party sounds like fun!
  6. We have a distant cousin from Germany coming to stay with us for a month. I'd like to be able to email her to explain Celiac and Gluten-free to her before she comes. She does speak some English but I really want to make sure she understands so I was hoping someone might have some suggestions or might know the right German words to use.
  7. Yoplait Key Lime yogurt Rice Krispies Corn chips Soft tortilla shells Chicken nuggets And what are the best store bought cookies? And what are the best treat (she LOVES chocolate) for me to carry around just in case? Thank you all so very much for your help. I've ordered the books you recommended and I've printed out all the lists you've given...
  8. I'm new to all of this too. My 3 year old was just diagnosed by blood tests, we're awaiting an appointment with GI to decide about the biopsy. The symptoms you've described your children having match my daughter's symptoms (slow weight gain, skin issues, irritability, tummy trouble). My other daughters do not have any symptoms but we will be talking to...
  9. I love love love party planning! Here's some ideas we've tried out that have been fun: -artists' party (kids decorate their own cupcakes, paint on a real canvas they get to take home, work with real clay, etc ~ just decorate with bright colors and buy lots of cool art supplies) -ballet party (held at my daughter's dance studio ~ her teacher gave the...
  10. She's always been very healthy but a picky eater. Since May she's had about 6 days where she acted almost like she had a stomach virus (but no one else got it) and she always recovered quickly. She's also been a little irritable but we blamed that on the "terrible 3s" since she never really went through the terrible 2s. She has eczema (food-linked to nuts...
  11. Another thought: How did you tell your child s/he has celiac disease? I'm at a loss.
  12. I'm new to all of this but just wanted to say that I can identify with your concerns. I wonder if you need to find another doctor. One that does a better job relating to you.
  13. My 3 year old was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Her sisters (6 y/o and 11 m/o) don't seem to have any symptoms. Should I still have them tested?
  14. My 3 year old daughter was just diagnosed with celiac disease. Do you have any resources, advice, or words of wisdom for me? Thanks!
