  1. I am supplying my DD's teacher with this info: Open Original Shared Link
  2. Are you sure you have to be polite?! Can your husband call and say, "mom, thanks for the offer of the cakes. We're going to have to say no thank you but we appreciate how generous it was for you to offer! I don't know if this sounds like a good idea to you or not but if you'd still like to do something special, I bet our daughter would love to be...
  3. I'm working from hindsight here because my daughter was only recently diagnosed at 3. As an infant, she got eczema rashes all the time. Her older sister used to get them from chocolate, berries and nuts but we could never pinpoint what was causing Julia's (we figure now that it must have been gluten, especially since her eczema is nonexistent now with a...
  4. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I'm not sure if these are the right ones but I hope they help!
  5. Ha! I don't like cooking at my house either! I keep threatening to just feed everyone carrot sticks! Those ideas help a lot!
  6. I'm all out of ideas! Can you tell me what you like to serve for dinner? We have one vegetarian, one picky eater, one with celiac disease, one who'll eat anything, and a baby. Some days I cook 3 or 4 different meals!
  7. Wonderful! Yoplait is our favorite!
  8. My 3 year old who was recently diagnosed acts similarly. When she's hungry, she's really hungry RIGHT NOW. And sometimes she'll eat a huge meal but other times she'll says she's full after a few bites. I'm assuming that any kind of food/tummy issues are related to Celiac and healing.
  9. Thanks for your support and advice (and for "listening" to me vent!). Things are looking up again. We've found a few other gluten-free products that Julia likes which has really helped make meal times easier. And some more of our family members are starting to realize how serious this diet is. We had the baby's first birthday party this weekend and everyone...
  10. Hi! I'm pretty new to all this too (my 3 year old was recently diagnosed) but we're learning! I wanted to recommend a book that my girls really like called Eating Gluten-free with Emily. I can't help with the biopsy questions; we decided to forgo that procedure.
  11. I only drink soy (made the switch about 5 years ago). I really like the plain Silk Soy milk. In my opinion, the light version tastes better. My godson only likes it when you've mixed in strawberry mix.
  12. This Celiac diet is so hard. I'm killing myself trying to find my daughter foods she'll like and that are still nutritious and gluten-free and half the time she turns her nose up at everything and eats a cheese stick. It seems I can't be careful enough because this weekend while we were out of town, she somehow got gluten even though we were so cautious...
  13. We were out of town all weekend but we were so careful! She definitely had a gluten reaction. What do you do when you can't pin point the problem?
  14. Hi! I'm in metro Detroit. GL with Gluten-free! We just started for my 3 year old who was just diagnosed.
  15. Julia will start preschool in a couple of weeks. I know and like the teacher. I also know the office staff pretty well and I know that the main secretary has Celiac. -Do you send gluten-free playdoh, glue, etc? Ordinarily the school provides shared supplies. -What snacks do you send for your child? She doesn't like the gluten-free animal crackers...
  16. I am sure it is celiac related. She looks so sad when it happens and she says, "I didn't know." I think she has so much gas that she can't differentiate the feelings. Just today she ran to the bathroom yelling, "I have to GOOOOO!" And she actually did, right on the potty. I don't know how quickly children start to feel better but we've been gluten...
  17. We have the same problem. Julia is 3 and a half and I'm not sure if she can go to preschool in a pull up. She does so well with pee but I just don't think she has enough notice when she has have a bm.
  18. Good point! I brought Julia's food (she was eating a gluten-free cupcake when all this happened) but I didn't bring a list. Maybe if I bring a list they'll realize how involved all of this is!
  19. My daughter responds well to rice cooked in homemade chicken stock and pedialyte. I know pedialyte is supposed to be for kids but it helps me when I've needed it. Hope you feel better.
  20. My husband isn't around much ~ he travels a lot for work and even when he is around, he's not good with his parents. There are some communication issues there. As hard as it is going to be, I think you're all right about the "no prisoners" (LOL!) strategy with the in-laws. It was very upsetting to argue with them in front of my daughter (especially since...
  21. We have two separate grandparent problems: 1. Julia has lost a lot of weight and had very little appetite before her diagnosis. My parents are so excited to see Julia eating that they've started praising her like mad when she takes a bite of anything around them. They've even resorted to bribery. Can you say "eating disorder" in the making?! Ugh. I...
  22. Has anyone frozen cupcakes made from the Pamela's Chocolate Cake Mix? Do they freeze well? Would you freeze them frosted or unfrosted? Thanks!
  23. A really great site for information about breastfeeding is kellymom.com. They have forums there for breastfeeding and health concerns. That might be a good place for you! From all I've heard and my personal experience (breast fed 3 babies for a year at least each), breastfeeding is the best feeding choice for your baby and you are doing a wonderful...
  24. Happy Birthday!
