ARCHIVED Rice Chex?!?!
hollyres replied to runnerkat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I posted a similar situation and everyone replied that they didn't have any trouble. When I eat Rice Chex I have issues, especially bloating and gas. In addition, it made me have anxiety (one of my major symptoms). My husband thinks I am allergic to something in them. -
ARCHIVED Frank's Red Hot?

Oops, I see now in the heading that it was the wing sauce. -
ARCHIVED Frank's Red Hot?
hollyres replied to shacon-bacon's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You must have been eating the wing sauce or something--regular Frank's Red Hot is way more basic. I eat the regular Frank's Red Hot every day on rice, deviled eggs, potato chips (w/sour cream), and anything else that will hold it. I am VERY sensitive to gluten, and it hasn't gotten me yet. My suggestion: buy the plain hot sauce and add melted butter and... -

The ingredients changed, but I thought maybe there was CC going on. -
ARCHIVED Rice Chex
hollyres replied to hollyres's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for your help! It must be something else. In the gluten-filled world we live in--let's face it--it could be anything. I will give them another try. Thanks! -
Hello all! I was so excited about the new "gluten free" labeling on Rice Chex. I began eating them and my gut swelled - very slowly over days. I kept trying to put it on other things, but I didn't add anything new during that time. I have only been on the diet for a little over a year, so I am so super careful, I am not used to getting gluten...

ARCHIVED Is It Okay To Take Women's One-a-day?
hollyres replied to nikki2008's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't like taking a vitamin without iron because I get it in my cereal (currently Rice Chex ) - you don't want to get too much iron. Too much iron for me messes up my GI functioning. I take Viactiv Mult-Chews and find them working well. I feel better and my nails are growing like crazy (good sign). This probably didn't help you at all . Sorry. -
ARCHIVED Rice Chex Is Now Gluten Free!
hollyres replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ran out and bought a box of Rice Chex yesterday, starting out with a handful (don't want to be too crazy!). Today, I am okay, so I had a ton this afternoon instead of potato chips. Can I tell ya - YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY. The Lord does answer prayers. -
ARCHIVED Rice Chex Is Now Gluten Free!
hollyres replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OMG - OMG - OMG! If I have to eat another bowl of Cocoa Pebbles, I think I will die! Because of my nut allergy, it is hard to find cereals that don't cost $6.00 a box without traces of nuts. I need to get rid of the sugar, but I NEED cereal in a big way. You have made my month!!!!! -

ARCHIVED Need A Good Lotion
hollyres replied to confused's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have another suggestion - Neutrogena Emulsion Lotion - which can be purchased at Wal-Mart. I have severely dry skin and it keeps me nice and soft. The trick is to apply it the minute you emerge from a shower/bath. Hope it helps! -
ARCHIVED Nut Allergies & Gluten Free Products
hollyres posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone else have a hard time finding gluten-free foods that are nut free? I know Bob's Red Mill is totally CC with nuts - they told me on the phone. I need a good pasta, cookie, and flour that is definately nut & gluten free. I just don't eat any "gluten-free" foods (just whole foods) because I am afraid. I could really use a break through... -

hollyres posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great, gluten-free holiday! I have been meaning to post this link for a few months - Open Original Shared Link It is a way to receive a free daily email of a gluten-free product you can buy in the regular grocery store. I really enjoy it; it is always in my inbox when I wake up M-F. This post is NOT an advertisement... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else With Problems With Maybelline Eyeliner?
hollyres replied to mamabear's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your story is so close to my own recent experience! I used Maybelline eyeliner forever, then about two months ago, I began to have an allergic reaction to it. Of course, it took me awhile to figure out, as I had been using it for so long. I now use Almay, which I confirmed was gluten free. My eyes got puffy and itchy and red. It was awful. I hate it... -
ARCHIVED I Cant Do This Anymore
hollyres replied to confused's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Have you thought about having the DNA test from a swab on his cheek? The results are within 24 hours - you just request a packet and mail back the swab. It is really fast. Open Original Shared Link Also, I am the mother of 2 teenage boys. You are the boss - remember that. You buy the food. I know you shouldn't go off gluten before the test, but let... -
ARCHIVED Olay Quencher Body Lotion
hollyres replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Neutragena Fregrance Free Emulsion Lotion - make sure you get the kind called "emulsion" (kind of pricey). I have been using it for over 20 years and absolutely can't live without it! I have super dry skin. It works on the body and face as well. When I found out a year ago about the Celiac diet my first concern was this lotion. I called the company... -
I too, have always had very low BP, but it has gone up since I have been on diet...weird. Once it wouldn't even register.

I need help...I have developed dermatitis herpetiformis (I think) on my face - around my mouth and nose. I have NEVER had it before, nor do I have it any where else. It seems to only develop when I am around gluten - especially steam from the sink when I am cleaning glutenized dishes. Does anyone else have this weird thing? It seems to get worse every...

ARCHIVED Quaker Rice Cakes
hollyres posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I quit eating Quaker Rice Cakes because I was under the impressional ALL Quaker products had the chance of CC. Then, I was reading a post by Amandasmama and it listed Quaker Rice Cakes! I need something crunchy and I quit eating potatoes and corn (basically all yummy chips). So sad... -
ARCHIVED Healing Garden... Safe?
hollyres replied to silly celiac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know about Healing Garden, but I was wondering what shampoo and conditioner you changed to that is "safe." I need something better. BTW: I use Neutrogena Emulsion lotion (gluten free) and love it. -
ARCHIVED Centrum New Formula
hollyres replied to GFinMN's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just spoke with the customer service there and she said that they were still testing...I don't know. I guess because I had a "build up" reaction to another OTC, I am once bitten twice shy. -
ARCHIVED Centrum New Formula
hollyres replied to GFinMN's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just spoke with Wyeth and they said the new formula is wheat free, but they are still testing it for other factors of gluten sources. She said call back in a couple weeks. -
ARCHIVED Are Fountain Cokes Gluten Free?
hollyres replied to Aligray's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your reaction could be to mold, as companies are neglectful when it comes to cleaning the lines that feed the machines. I can't drink fountain drinks at all.
