I have a friend that worked in an allergists doctors hospital for a short time and also had allergy treatments. She told me those bumps show that a person is having an allergic reacation to something. It could be a normal allergy like breathing in pollen or it could be from gluten type reactions. I had the bumps also but since going gluten-free I don't have...

ARCHIVED Arrowhead Mills Rice Flour Being Bitter
taneil replied to taneil's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I keep the flour in the freezer and it seems I have bought multiple bags that do the samething. I guess I'll try a different brand. -
Does anyone else have a problem with products that contain Tapioca Flour. It seems whenever my husband and I eat products with Tapioca Flour we both get really bad gas afterwards.

ARCHIVED Arrowhead Mills Rice Flour Being Bitter
taneil posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have been using Arrowhead Mills Rice Flour for 1 1/2 years. Recently when I have baked with it, making muffins or biscuits it tastes bitter. I don't know if the flour in rancid or what but it tastes nasty. The worse time was when I made biscuits with Arrowhead Mills Rice Flour as well as with Bob's Red Mill gluten-free Baking Mix and when we added some... -

ARCHIVED Tortillas
taneil replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just bought so Food For Life Rice Tortillas. And I don't mind them. I think they solved their problem about sticking together. Both packages I bought had wax paper between each tortilla. Therefor the came apart easily. I heated them over my gas stove and filled them. They are a little chewyer than white flour tortillas, but not bad. Again it is personal... -
ARCHIVED Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism ?
taneil replied to Nanjee's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I posted something a while ago about my Hashimoto's so I will only give a brief summary of what happened to me. I was diagnosed with Hashi's in March of 2004 and then diagnosed with Gluten Intolerance in April 2004 after I figured the Hashimoto's was due to Gluten Intolerance. So in May I went on a gluten-free diet and started taking a natural supplament... -
I was diagnosed through entrolab and it didn't say celiac disease but gluten intolerance. I applied for a high deductable health insurance with an HSA acount and the question the underwriter asked was "Were you diagnosed with Celiac Sprue or only Gluten intolerance". I had to with draw my application because of some other circumstances, but by the was the...

My little sister, 19 years old, was diagnosed earlier this year with gluten intolerance through entrolab. She also has the classic symtoms of Hypothyroidism. She also continues to have digestive problems. I think she may be allergic to multiple things, and/or she hasn't eliminated all gluten from her diet. So, does anyone know of a good doctor in the area...

I have hypothyroidsim, but decided to be tested for gluten intolerance through Entrolab. I am gluten intolerant and so went gluten-free knowing that gluten can trigger other autoimmune reactions like hypothyrodism. I now stick to being gluten-free and take a supplament to help support my thyroid. The gluten might be causeing the thyroid problem, but the gluten...

I also tried making this into a loaf and bread and when it didn't rise, I pressed it onto a pizza stone, and prebaked it at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Then took it out and topped it. It worked well. 1 cup water 1 1/2 Tbs butter or Spectrum (gluten-free/non-dairy) 1 Tbs sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tsp yeast 2 cups gluten-free...

ARCHIVED Holiday Time Of Year Again
taneil replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just bought my first turkey today and bought a Jenny-O. the problem I had was that when I first looked at the ingredients I saw that it said wheat flour. So I was mad because that was the only one that was free with a $50 purchase and I couldn't buy it. Then after a few minutes I realized I was reading the ingredients to the gravy packet not the turkey... -
Have you been tested for hypothyroidism? Brain fog and polycystis are both symptoms of Hypothyroidism also. You might get checkout for it also.

Children's Medical Center in Dallas is suppose to be good. My sister works at Cook Children's in Fort Worth which I know is really good. There is a good celiac disease support group in the area. I have never been, but they meet at one of the hospitals in Dallas every month. Dallas is also where Dr. Kenneth Fine lives who has Celiac himself and runs enterolabs...

The Remarkable Brand Chicken Broths are gluten-free. They are the brands for Randell's, Safeway, and Tom Thumb. They just updated their gluten-free list two week ago which would be the middle of October 2004. The rep said all of their chicken broths are currently gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Gf, Weightloss, Lack Of Appetite
taneil replied to dbuhl79's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
dbuhl79, I went gluten-free 6 months ago and was at about 165 pounds with my "ideal" weight being around 135 pounds. I am like you where I never lost weight unless I was doing a lot of excersise. Now I was between 135-140 pounds. I feel good and am not doing a lot of excersise. My theory is that because I was gluten intolerant the gluten had the opposite... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does Constipation Persist.
taneil replied to Mballerina's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you been tested for Hypothyroidism? That can be the reason that you are constipated. I have hypothyroidism and gluten intolerance. The hypothyroid would cause major constipation like you are talking about and it can go hand in hand with Gluten Intolerance. If you haven't been tested for it you might get tested for it. -
ARCHIVED Got My Results From Enterolab
taneil replied to jds22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had the same results from Entrolab. I went gluten-free six months ago and have watched dairy intake but would eat ice cream once in a while and also would use butter. Now however, I am going to go Caesin free as well. The symptom I notice when I ingest Caesin in extreme irritablility within a few hours. I want to rip someone head off if they bug me. But... -
Update on my Hypothyroid. I have been gluten-free for six months now and am feeling pretty good. I recently had blood work done again for celiac disease and my thyroid. My TSH level dropped from 98 to 6 and my IgG level dropped from 40 to 9. My doctor was very impressed that my TSH had dropped so much just by going gluten-free. I am also taking a supplament...

My daughter was not Pizza Deprived, but I was. I made "Pizza" crust from Garbanzo Bean flour, water and oil. But it didn't taste like Pizza. Then I saw the recipe for gluten-free Pizza Crust on the back of Bob Red Mills Garbanzo & Fava Bean Flour. It is really good and tastes the closest thing to Pizza crust that I have had since going gluten-free. ...

ARCHIVED Blood Test Results
taneil replied to Niteyx13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I figured out that I am gluten intolerant because my Thyroid was messed up. So I went gluten-free to and have not yet started Thyroid Replacment Therapy in hopes that the gluten-free diet will allow my Thyroid to reregulate itself. -

ARCHIVED Sodium Fluoride Chewables
taneil replied to ashlee's mom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Michelle, I don't know about the presciption, but I would do research on fluoride before I would give my child a supplement with fluoride in it. Below is a link to a web page that gives a lot of good information about fluoride. I encourage you to take a look at it and make a informed decision about fluoride. I hope this helps, sorry I can't answer your...
