  1. Best wishes to you. This is the right thing to do! You can do it. (I also hear Wellbutrin helps)
  2. HAHAHA! I think guinea pig is on the menu in Peru! Totally off topic - how was Mendoza? I'm about 4 hours away but haven't made the trip yet.
  3. We have one - the smallest one ever made - our "small appetizer" plates don't fit into it. We may not fit into your survey though, we are Chile. We have never used it.
  4. How much sex do you think is normal? I'm not asking how much sex you personally have, I'm just wondering about the different opinions on what you think is "normal" Everyday? Once a week? Once a month? I feel like it depends a lot on the couple - and where you are in the relationship. Newly-weds I would think more - the 5-10 year married couples...
  5. I got on here today because I'm experiencing my first accidental gluten in several months. I'd say that sums it up pretty well.
  6. Really? I did not know that I couldn't share teflon pans and plastic containers! I thought you could get them clean! Crap! I have probably been glutened this whole time, but my bloodwork didn't show the antibodies elevated. I'm off to buy glass containers. What about the plastic lids on the glass containers? Do we have to keep it all separate?
  7. I cannot believe someone did that you on purpose! So glad you got out of there!
  8. I am currently living in Chile, so the good subsitutes are a little harder to come by. I do buy flours and things online and have my mother ship them down here. I just get so frustrated at the change in everyday life. So much planning ahead, so much preparation for everything I can eat, never being able to pick up a pizza or eat anything a party. I do...
  9. Since my diagnosis I have not knowingly eaten anything containing gluten. Lately I have been dreaming about pizza and donuts and pasta and bread and I'm going out of my mind. My mouth literally waters when I think about a bite of pizza. My husband said to me yesterday, if I were you, I'd probably cheat all the time. I wonder if people do.
  10. I got the results back - the only thing that's fast in Chile - and everything is within the normal range. So it's not B vitamins, it's not Iron.... The gastro doctor I went to immediately said it was stress, that it had nothing to do with absorption, guess he was right. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I picked up some B vitamins anyway, maybe...
  11. Okay I have a doctor's appointment today... I need to check iron stores vs regular iron? Is there some medical terminology for that? Also get the endomysel and tissue transglutaminate levels done to see if I'm accidentally getting some gluten. And hormone levels? And regular vitamin panel for the B vitamins and such. Anyone recommend anything...
  12. Yes it does feel kind of like passing out...but without the cold sweats. I will have to get my bloodwork re-done. I may still not have any iron. Other than the complete lack of iron, he said I wasn't so bad off, the scarring from the Celiac's wasn't very bad....my antibody levels were not so high as he'd seen in other Celiac's. That's kind of why I...
  13. No I am not taking an iron supplement, however I do take Centrum Multivitamins everyday, and I am careful to eat iron rich foods with vitamin c foods for absorption. I thought I would be able to absorb nutrients by now, maybe it takes a bit longer. I do fall asleep at the drop of a hat during the day - at my desk - I am surprised my head hasn't hit my...
  14. I've been gluten free since October 2007 and for the most part I feel better - well no pain and my stomach doesn't look like a balloon - but I am still having lots of problems with my energy level. First of all, it's low, all the time, possibly due to not absorbing iron, that was one of the first things my docs noticed, was that I had zero iron. I think...
  15. I just moved to Vina del Mar/Renaca area. So far I've been able to find corn meal, rice cakes, gluten free pasta and rice flour, but no other kinds of flours or xanthan gum. Anyone know of any stores in Chile, even in Santiago? Or maybe stores that ship internationally? Thanks!

  17. My doc said that I had a genetic pre-disposition to it and the stress of quitting a job, getting married, getting new job and moving to another country (all in about a month) was what triggered it. Now that I know about it I feel like maybe I have had it for a while and this more recent stress made the symptoms more severe and persistent that I finally got...
  18. Okay good that is what I thought, too. My mother in law read this and told me I needed iron and then I could eat "normally" again. I told her it was lifetime deal, but thought I should check regardless. Thanks.
  19. I have been gluten free for only two months and I feel tons better. The brain fog is lifting, I have more energy it seems and almost no more pain. I second the advice on calling relatives. I called mine and found out I had one cousin who had been diagnosed for a while and another cousin was mysteriously ill with symptoms all pointing to celiac. I would...
  20. "I submitted this recipe several years ago. Subsequently, with the aid of an iron supplement, I was able to go back to a normal diet." This statement was taken from a recipe review off Allrecipes.com, from a gluten free pancake recipe. What is this person talking about? I know celiacs can prevent you from absorbing iron (that was my doc's first clue...
  21. Do you just brown these like a "normal" pancake?
  22. Thanks, I didn't know I could get it through the NHS. nikki-uk, Holland and Barrett told me they didn't carry it all, maybe the clerk meant just at his location. Thanks!
  23. I just made this and I love it! I used almond meal instead of walnuts as my dh doesn't like walnut. It is great, it does taste a lot like a brownie to me. I drizzled icing over top (the icing from the pumpkin bars, cream cheese, butter, icing sugar and vanilla) and it's very pretty and tastes wonderful. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. After...
  24. I used almond meal, butter, and crushed gluten-free ginger snap cookies for my Thanksgiving pies, it turned out tasting like a "normal" cookie crust. I got compliments from non celiacs even.
  25. My chocolate pie did the same thing! It was chocolate soup! My dh put in a bowl with ice cream, it made a good chocolate syrup I guess. The crust turned out great though, I used almond meal, gluten-free crushed ginger snaps, brown sugar and butter. I was just diagnosed with celiac's in October, so I'm really new to all of this. Thanks to everyone for...
