  1. I'm sorry you're freaking out. It's okay. You just have to accept that you can't ever have taco bell again (sorry, NOTHING from there is safe as most of it either contains gluten or is gluten due to cross contamination).. it will take some time but as you learn to prepare better food for yourself and what not, you will eventually get to a place where the...
  2. Haha... I like your posts Takala... I read that and had the same thought... my mind just went UGH.. PLEASE. I'm iffy about the rest of that article but some of it is good. The bread maker thing is annoying to me also because like you said so many people haven't figured out what their other intolerances are after going gluten free. The article is okay but...
  3. My advice is to not worry about gluten free bread or anything like that for awhile. Get that girl on some good wholesome food, not processed crap like breads or other premade gluten free things. I dont eat bread at all. She needs stuff like meat, well steamed vegetables, GOOD fats like avacado and flaxseed oil, etc. Check out the Specific Carbohydrate Diet...
  4. I spent my teen years completely drugged up on anti depressants and anti psychotics because the doctors simply said I had "depression". Then I got away from all that stuff and got on the natural path, but still spent years in the chains of depression and horrible anxiety, always needing something like st johns wort or other "remedies" just to feel sort of...
  5. Any is too much!
  6. I felt like this in the beginning to, and now I laugh at the idea of JUST being gluten free being hard. I am now soy, gluten, dairy, corn, and chickpea free.... trust me, you learn to deal with it.
  7. lol doctors... this is why I don't go to them. Well, one of the many reasons why. Why do you need testing for what you already know? I never had testing and never will. Don't need it. If a doctor told me to eat gluten I'd tell him to eat glass. Pretty much the same thing.
  8. Hey. While I am happy you guys arent that sensitive and I agree a lot of celiacs probably aren't, I just wanted to point out that I DO react, violently, to even touching gluten. I broke out in an intensely itchy and painful rash all over my hands and lower arms just from moving a clump of (didnt know at the time, but wheat) straw from one place to another...
  9. Similar things happened to me... over time, I realized that gluten free was nowhere near enough for my gut. I also am sickened by corn, dairy, chickpeas (and some other beans) and soy. Most of us have to go beyond gluten free to get well. Hope that helps.
  10. I no longer eat anything processed for this reason.
  11. I've been making beef or chicken bowls with veggies and a coconut milk base... just ground beef in one pan stir fry squash, garlic, etc (whatever you like) in another.. add coconut milk in with the veggies to make a curry style soup. Then mix together with the beef in a big bowl and eat up!
  12. That's the problem with being sensitive to more than just gluten. I mean, anything is "safe" unless youre sensitive to it... and you can be sensitive to everything. It's a never ending project for me, trying to figure out all that bothers me.
  13. thank you so much for your reply. I just can't believe how frustrating this is ... all I want is to feel better and live a some-what normal life.. whatever that is .. I have those red bumps they don't like like acne they look like an allergic reaction to something ... like ya said we know more about our body then any doctor would .. thanks again!

  14. Trust me when I say that most of us, for whatever reason, seem to know more than 90% of these doctors out there. My experience with doctors is that they are completely clueless which is why I haven't been to a doctor in years now. Id rather just take my money and give it to a homeless person or something, it would do more good! Every time I went to a doctor...
  15. You would think frozen veggies would be gluten free... *most* of them are. Id never considered cross contamination when it comes to veggies until shopping at Wal Mart. Wal Mart is great for labeling so shop there for that stuff if you can. I noticed though, that while most of their veggies say "A naturally gluten free food" on them, some frozen peas I bought...
  16. I envy you. I cannot have dairy OR corn so no chips and cheese for me. I might try rice cheese. For those of you who are corn free like me though, a yummy alternative to nachos is taco lettuce wraps. Make black beans, taco meat, tomatoes, salsa, avacado (OR Whatever other yummy mexican ingrediants you like) and wrap them in big pieces of lettuce...
  17. Tylenol Liquid: Active Ingredient (in each 15 ml = 1 Tablespoon): Acetaminophen (500 mg). Inactive Ingredients: Citric Acid, Corn Syrup, D&C Red 33, FD&C Red 40, Flavor, Polyethylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Purified Water, Saccharin Sodium, Sodium Benzoate, Sorbitol. Ug. Well I've survived the worst day of my period without any pain...
  18. Thanks for the reply! I've basically been riding it out... it's okay on a day off like I was lucky enough to start on today, but I am concerned about when I get my period and have to work... I can't work in that sort of pain. One good thing though, it seems when I'm not glutened/corned/soyed (lol) or whatever during the month, my period that month is much...
  19. So I noticed for awhile now that every time I got my period I got gluten like symptoms... I began to connect it to taking Motrin, because the same things happened other times I took Motrin (I don't often, but the occasional headache, etc). So then I looked and found out Motrin (which I'd long ago put on the "safe" list, before I knew I had other sensitivities...
  20. Open Original Shared Link There is a link to some info.. there is also a lot of good info through that site that helped me when I was doing iodine therapy. edit, sorry I totally jacked up that link. I don't know why it wont link to the direct page I'm trying for. Anyway, within the iodine forum go to "iodine answers" up at the top and it has a lot of...
  21. Really??? Whoa, cool! I think how long we live probably depends on how gluten effects us. I came close to death when I was younger because my gum/skin lesions got horribly infected and my immune system just collapsed basically. The infection spread to my blood and I ended up delerious with 105 degree fever. It was really scary, I barely even remember some...
  22. If it's wheat, I'm not touching it with someone elses digestive track.
  23. Within minutes, if not instantly. I can feel it within minutes, the skin reaction takes an hour or two.
  24. I think it's your duty to go, if anything, so you can help educate them. It's hard and frustrating as hell and they don't "get it", but if they are any sort of decent people, they will, with a bit of help. I had family functions where I walked in and had someone say to me with a smile "I made special food for you!" only to have me look at the ingrediants...
  25. Umm.. there is no reason you should need certain, more expensive foods to be healthy. Processed food is usually more expensive anyway so if you arent eating processed food, being gluten free should be just as cheap if not cheaper. I'm also unemployed and have been for ages. I eat everything 100% from scratch, and my basic foods are meat, rice, beans, garlic...
