  1. I had to go 100% dairy free awhile after being gluten free, because dairy was messing me up so badly. Dairy always messed me up, but it wasn't until I started healing from all the gluten poisoning that I was able to really see. I don't know about lactose free milk... because for me, it isn't the lactose. It's probably the casein or something else in the dairy...
  2. This isn't helpful at all but sorry, I just had to laugh if he eats FISH and calls himself a "vegan". He is NOT a vegan, he's not even a vegetarian. He's just someone who doesn't eat most meat and doesn't eat dairy. Sorry, not helpful I know... just a HUGE pet peeve of mine because I actually WAS a vegetarian for many years, a real one, and hearing these...
  3. I can only speak for myself, but I cannot tolerate any sort of processed food like doritos or cereal. Even supposedly gluten free ones. But I am sensitive to corn, dairy, soy and most chemicals/dyes as well.... I didn't start truly gettin well until I removed all processed food from my diet and began cooking only clean, whole foods from scratch.
  4. This is more than just not being supportive. If they are insisting that you eat gluten when you are intolerant to it they are essentially poisoning you. That is ABUSE. I missed how old you are, but if possible get the hell out of there.
  5. Mmm.... I remember the hunger. It lasted maybe 6 months for me. ANd it took eliminating ALL allergen type of foods such as dairy, corn, soy and other stuff on top of gluten for me to really begin absorbing again and not being so hungry all the time. But if I mess up, it comes back. I ate corn by accident the other day, broke out in a rash and have been starving...
  6. Yes, Amy's stuff also makes me not feel good. It's been ages but I remember being glutened by them a long time ago. I stay away from ANY processed foods now.
  7. Well, if you are having an autoimmune reaction then yes, there is damage happening to your body somewhere. The autoimmune system attacking your own body IS the reaction. So yes. I wouldn't eat butter either. I tried and still had a reaction to it. To me, dairy is dairy.
  8. IMO soy barely even counts as food. I don't personally believe its good for anyone, especially not celiacs or gluten intolerant people. I stay far away from all soy. It's bad news.
  9. Its either 1) something he is eating or 2) everything he is eating, meaning that his body is just so broke down and damaged that digesting ANY food causes him problems. If its the first option- have u thought about corn? I was gluten free for a long time before even considering that I had other sensetivies. I healed a lot just from being gluten free but...
  10. I became more sensitive to everything after going gluten free. Actually, I probably was always sensitive to these things but it wasn't until going gluten free that I healed enough and developed enough of an awareness over my body that I realized the other sensitivities. My reactions to the things I am sensitive to though? DEFINITELY became much, much more...
  11. The reason people are iodine deficient isn't because we don't get it in salt or foods... its because of OTHER toxic halogens such as bromines getting into the body and blocking the absorption of iodine. But that's a whole other huge complicated issue not really related to celiac disease. The iodine is just a part of the reaction which is being caused by gluten...
  12. Gluten, dairy, soy AND corn intolerant here. Yep.... I feel ya. Thinking about what you can have is the only way, if you start thinking about what you can't have it feels easier just to take a bullet.
  13. I had a violent reaction to maltodextrin the other day. It was almost identical to a gluten reaction. I realize it comes from corn but strangely, its somehow worse because even though I'm corn free I have cheated once in a great while and didn't have anywhere NEAR the reaction I had from the tiniest bit of maltodextrin. It's no good for my body, whatever...
  14. That "doctor" should lose his license to practice. It's stuff like this that made me stop seeing doctors years ago, after they failed to tell me my problems could be caused by something I was eating. I had to find out on my own the hard way after years of suffering and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent on these "doctors" who know less than I do about...
  15. I feel you! It's hard. I'm almost 2 years in now... and it's still hard. It's sorta a 3 steps forward, two steps back kinda thing sometimes. Big, big learning curve. I'm having a flare up of my symptoms right now (not sure why, I think it's because I tried eating dairy again, and even though it was only goat cheese Im still having a flare).
  16. I am on a corn free diet as of right now. I think I'm going to wait 2-3 more months and start eating it again. I am not sure if I am sensitive to it or not, but I thought it would be a good idea to give it up (along with dairy and soy) for awhile to aid healing. It's definitely not in everything.. you just can't eat processed foods.. which I don't anyway...
  17. My reactions are all in my skin, joints, mouth(gums) and my brain... and no... there is no stopping it.
  18. Ensure is nasty. Get some good organic food that isn't filled with crap!
  19. There is something very wrong with him. I suggest you don't speak to someone so worthless and non-supportive again. There is NO excuse for that type of behavior. What an a-hole.
  20. I think it definitely could take A LOT longer than 2-3 weeks to heal, and you are right that if the OP is still having problems they could be being glutened somehow. I started my gluten free diet in 2008 but I would say it probably took me at least 6 months to get all the gluten out of my diet (because of things I didnt know about like vitamins, shampoo...
  21. I am on a gluten, corn, soy and dairy free diet and this has not effected my social life in any way... People who love you, love you for YOU not for what you eat. I wouldn't worry about it. You seem to have a lot of worries about this, which I understand. Celiac is a lot to deal with, but you don't need to add to it by worrying about what others will...
  22. Wow.. well I have autoimmune disease but my pinky isn't like that, in fact it's above the last joint on my ring finger. I voted in the poll, seems I'm in the lowest percentile!
  23. I had to stop eating chocolate awhile ago because all I had available to me in my former area was the Hersheys kind.. which we all know about Hersheys. It was giving me reactions and at first i thought it was because they had some unlabeled gluten in them or something but then I began connecting my reactions to a milder than gluten although still bad dairy...
  24. Hmm I don't know anything about gene's and testing, all I know is my body thrives and becomes very healthy and beautiful when I follow an allergen free diet. Don't stress, it's the worst thing for you!
  25. I have a big tattoo on my back, no reaction what so ever. Enjoy getting inked! I'm jealous! I really want another but I don't have the cash right now!
