  1. Carla, Congrats! Wonderful news! Yay! Sherry, That Gua Sha's interesting. Reminds me of what the ancient Romans did when they bathed. Scraped the skin after oiling it. Early detoxers? Jin, The bleeding should only last for a couple of days, if that. If it goes on any longer, give the nice (non-barfed upon) dentist a call. Birdie...
  2. Hi! I'm having a bad brain day today, along with other stuff ... all I can see is that your DHEA, cortisol, and ACTH are low. Will get back to you in a bit (probably tomorrow) with more info.
  3. Oh yeah, the CT scan was of my head. Hubby wants me to do something artsy with all the CT and u/s I've collected. Maybe a collage? I know a little about print making... could be another career. Wormwood is the active ingredient in absinthe. Granted, taking wormwood capsules probably won't give the same reaction, as the capsules aren't distilled...
  4. You might also want to look into taking Uva Ursi. Its an herb. Works like cranberry tablets, but I've found it to be more effective. I take it when I feel that first little twinge and it keeps it from becoming a full-blown UTI.
  5. I was kinda of bummed (pun intended) that they didn't do pictures during my colonoscopy. Asked the GI about it and he only says they do that if they find anything interesting. Ruined my holiday card plan for this year. Was going to send out cards with the following message "Thinking of you in this season". The folks I like were going to get a copy...
  6. Kassandra, You're welcome dearie.
  7. Horsegirl, Your B12 is pretty low. Try some sublingual B12 lozenges. Just hold them under your tongue or between cheek and gum until they dissolve. Most folks I know take between 3000-5000mcg daily to boost their levels. I think you'll feel a difference once you start taking B12. If the sublinguals don't work in bringing your level up, then shots would...
  8. Kassandra, This is from wikipedia: The Swedish colonization of the Americas included a 17th-century colony on the Delaware River in what is now Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, as well as two possessions in the Caribbean during the 18th and 19th century. There's a link here on the colonization of the US: Open Original Shared...
  9. Mine was a non-event. Do the prep, go to the hospital, go to sleep, wake up, go home, take a nap. Ask for Osmo-Prep as your prep method. Its pills you take instead of having to swallow that nasty liquid stuff. Its what I used. No cramping, minimal nausea (2nd round only), and no pending bum explosions. The urge to go is gentle and it works. The worse...
  10. The big problem with ranges on lab results (particularly with nutrients and thyroid stuff) is they show what levels are found in the general population. They're not necessarily indicative of where the levels should be for good health. There's a huge difference between "normal" and "optimal" levels. Examples: Thyroid - Its best to get your FreeT3...
  11. LOL! I'm Curiouser over there. Didn't say "Hi Carla!" because I'm still not sure just how much people are in stealth mode over there. The meatballs were fabulous! LOL! You're right about the glutening. I'm to the point lately where, when I'm hungry, I gotta eat something. Lost 2 more pounds this past week. Down to 158 now. I was ...
  12. Yup! That's me! The blueberry girl. Btw, it was great chatting with you the other night.
  13. Paula, Sorry you got "yucked". Hope you're feeling better soon. Were you the one asking about hemp milk? I've tried it and its not bad. Its thicker than rice milk and doesn't have the bitter flavor I've found a lot of soy milks have. It also has a lot of good stuff in it (protein, omega fatty acids). I buy Living Harvest Original Flavor hemp milk...
  14. You're right. I'll give Dr H a call today and see when he can fit me in. I feel in such limbo right now. There are other things I need to do and just can't get up the motivation or energy to do them. I want to schedule a bone density scan (don't even have a clue who to call for this one - an orthopedist?). Need to see a dermatologist about a few...
  15. Alison, I think you were probably right not bringing up the dr's treatment at this time. Parents who lose children are going to feel guilty, no matter what caused the death. Doesn't matter if they were involved or not. That she was involved in approving the treatments that ultimately led to her son's death is probably eating her up inside. She's got...
  16. Jin, Thank you so much for the PM. Hubby seems to waffle back and forth between supportive and borderline-hostile about all this. You're probably right. He's worried, overwhelmed, wants to help, but doesn't know how. He's a caregiver by nature and I think he's just feeling powerless to help. Once I get my results back, I'm going to be giving Carla...
  17. YAY!!! Them's good eatin'!
  18. Hrm... dunno. While I'm not officially dx'd, I did have an endo/colonoscopy back in Sept. No problem at all with anesthesia or the prep. That kind of surprised me as I've had problems with anesthesia in the past. Grogginess would last for up to a week afterwards. Maybe they used something different for me this time?
  19. All, Thanks for the congrats! Carla, Thank you for the info on Dr H! I actually know how to get there! Yay! Well, at least in the general direction. I pass that exit on my way up to MA every year. Of course, knowing me, I'll keep on going until hitting Hartford and then the brain cells will kick in. It'll take a little less than 3 hours...
  20. Folks who poop together..... nevermind. Can't come up with a darned thing to add to that. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! When do you get tested? I seem to have a pretty bad track record with docs. Would love to change it... and soon!
  21. Carla, Are you seeing Dr H? I've heard a lot of good things about him. Not sure exactly where he's located. Would you mind PMing his info? Its probably somewhere between a 2-1/2 hour and 4 hour drive each way for me from here. Might be worth it if he can figure me out.
  22. Andrea, You're right. The whole reason I went to an LLMD in the first place was because I was under the impression they'd do a differential diagnosis. Even if its not lyme, they'd be able to tell me something. Definitely not going to get that from this guy. I'm looking into Dr E in NJ right now. There are a few supposed LLMDs out this way, but I can...
  23. It wasn't Igenex. All he told me was that he was running a DNA test for Lyme and co-infections through a lab in New Jersey. I think it's Medical Diagnostic Labs. I'm assuming its a PCR test. Dunno about a Western Blot. He didn't mention it, but I've talked to a few other patients who have seen him and he ran a WB on them. Maybe he thought I couldn't...
  24. Oh good. Its not just me then. I think I'm afraid of seeing yet another doc and yet again not having an answer. With any luck, if my results come back negative, the doc will just call and save me the trouble of 3 hours of driving and a $15 copay. Apparently, he's done this before to other patients. I really don't want to have to deal with this guy...
  25. Thanks Donna! I'm pretty darned pleased! Now if only I could get this anxiety down to a dull roar. Been psyching myself out the past few days. What if the lyme test comes back negative? Then what do I do? What if I really am being a hypochondriac? What if my body really is falling apart little by little rather than having a cause for it all...
