  1. Has your DR called the GI to get your dd in? I know I was going to have to wait 3 mos for a 2nd opinion on Evan, but when our nurse called and explained what was going on, we got in the next week.
  2. Do you think it's just gluten or do you feel there are other issues? I would take her off the peptamen and add those foods back in till your biopsy. Have them also biopsy for eosinophils in her esophagus and stomach and intestines etc. Might as well get it all done at the same time if she's having that many problems. We had this done w/ Evan, but he was already...
  3. Weight is so tricky! For us Evan just doesn't fit w/ our family size wise, lol. Sounds terrible doesn't it and I know there's always recessive genes etc, but no one is small in our families. It won't be long before Evan and his sister (2 yrs younger) look like twins, they're only about 4# difference. Evan has obvious bouts where he grew, when he was Neocate...
  4. AFAIK everyone makes some of these antibodies. I know Evan's test did not show 0, but it was under the level they considered a + result. Did you get your results back today? I'm hoping for mine on Monday, but think they're negative and have decided I'm intolerant vs celiac.
  5. The celiac blood test is fairly easy if you wanted to do that before you change your diet. I just had my test and I think now I have an intolerance vs celiac as I've been eating small amounts of gluten for 3 days now and it's just barely effecting me today. I'm not sure what I'm going to do as of right now, but I have thought about going back on probiotics...
  6. I would try and pull the milk too, does he do cheese? My plan is to get the kids to try new milk (we use rice milk, but I want to try hemp) by putting the new milk in the old box. lol Maybe that would help hide that you're taking it away? Have you thought about digestive enzymes or probiotics? I know probiotics helped me a lot last year, and if my test is...
  7. Kinninickinick K-Kritters Amaranth-Os Perky-Os Gorilla Munch Ener-G pretzels Envirokids Vanilla Animal Cookies I have yet to find a child who will eat these. I didn't like their texture at all, the K-Kritters are much better IMO.
  8. I would call and ask them why they need a biopsy and will they diagnose w/out that. Then ask what an 'official' diagnosis will do for you. Ask if the + results and her gaining weight on a gluten free diet will count instead? When my son was having reflux issues it took us 2.5mos to get into the GI and then if it weren't for our nurse, it would've taken us...
  9. Are we twins? lol I forced myself to eat a piece of bread last night and nothing so far, so I ate 2 more today to see. I have my test in an hour! I think I've now decided it's just a gluten intolerance and I'm not sure how to proceed w/ that as I can obviously eat a little gluten w/ no problem, but I'm not sure at what point I get pushed over the edge. I...
  10. This my biggest fear! I'm going in tomorrow for my test and I know gluten is a problem. I'm hoping for a diagnosis, but I'm scared since this has been a recent problem that maybe I don't have enough damage. My son is gluten free and it's helping him so it's not a far cry to think I could have problems as well. I decided to eat gluten tonight, ugh, since I...
  11. Open Original Shared Link That's the diet I would reccomend. All of my kids have been at LEAST milk, soy, and egg, Evan ended up intolerant to about everything and I decided to wean him to Neocate at 12 mos. Ilana is still on Neocate and you can see her list of things we're avoiding below. W/ the diet, you HAVE to have LOTS of oil! That's your source of...
  12. My son sounds like that. He just turned 3, but is only 26.5# and 34.5". He actually grew almost an inch in the first 2 mos of being gluten free, which for him is great! We're not as worried about his weight as it's been consistent on the charts for some time now and he's never been a big kid. His height is under the chart now though and wasn't a year ago...
  13. Allergies are more likely to be outgrown if diagnosed early, like at 1. If diagnosed later like 4 or so, they are likely to be lifelong. I do wonder what yearly test he goes for to check on his 'celiac'. I really think she must be talking about allergies, most do yearly tests for that in children.
  14. I just started having lots of ongoing stomach problems that stop when I do not eat gluten (my 3yo is gluten free). I remember having bouts of stomach issues in the past, but they always went away. I have called my allergist about ordering a celiac panel for me, but since the symptoms just started, will that be enough time for the antibodies to be in my system...
  15. It meets the 1st Saturday of every month at 1pm at alternating Hy-Vee stores (the 90th St and 51st St locations).
  16. I can't think of a single formula that has gluten in it, I'm pretty sure they are all gluten-free. I would think they would be in a dedicated factory, but I'm not sure. What formula are you using? My last 2 kids needed Neocate b/c they react strongly to dairy and soy.
  17. As someone who doesn't have to be gluten-free but I try to eat w/ Evan from time to time when it's something we'll both eat, I've found some great gluten-free bread mixes out there. I actually like them! It's hard to be gluten-free obviously, but I'm finding more and more subs for Evan. His new fave is Kinnickinick chocolate covered donuts.
  18. Thanks! That's the kind of list I need. I'm so used to having a list of ingredients (dairy, soy, egg, etc) and gluten is a bit trickier that's it's been hard. We do love the Tinkyada, found that out before and we use about all those products you mentioned at the end. We just moved so we're still settling in which has made it hard too. I need to make some...
  19. Did you see Dr. Attard? I've heard great things about him. Who did you end up seeing? We've seen Prestridge (yuck), Zapata (doable, but not the best), and Antonson (very stuck on himself and MSPI). There aren't many good options for ped GIs.
  20. Anyone still here? This is all new for me (for my son) and local help is always good.
  21. Hi, I'm Jennifer and new here. We recently tested my almost 3yo for celiac and his results were negative w/ only an elevated IgA (which I read could be related to celiac). We have taken him off gluten as best I can (it's hard and he's sneaky, as is his 4yo brother, lol), but I need help. His main symptom is lack of growth, specifically height though he has...
  22. I'm new here, but very interested in the entero labs tests so I'll be interested to hear what they find. I'll be doing a search of stories here from people who have used it. Hope it makes things better for her. Jennifer
