  1. I don't have any advice, but I will be praying.
  2. We never tried Threelac, though I've heard good things about it. We used Candistat the first time and it worked. Now when I went into the health food store to get it the second time, I didn't see Candistat, so I got Candida Clear, which looked to have the same ingredients. It seems to be working since she had the same rash the first day of taking it. Then...
  3. When I first heard of Candida and the spit test, I tried it on my kids and I think it really did work. The 3 boys had a negative spit test, but my daughter's was very positive. I got a candida supplement at a health food store and tried it. At first she felt terrible! She had the oddest rash I'd ever seen, felt nauseated on and off, brain fog. But after ...
  4. Kit'n'Kaboodle only has corn gluten, I'm pretty sure. Some flavors of Friskies are gluten free, the Seafood Sensation flavor and Signature Blend. But double check to make sure. I checked a few months ago and now just grab those flavors without looking. I do think the cat is healthier now. He used to throw up all the time, but now it's pretty infrequent...
  5. Thanks so much for your replies. I'm feeling better about this. His doctors don't think it's a big deal, either. Hopefully the longer he's gluten-free, the better it will get. I think sometimes he gets glutened at school with all the crumbs. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
  6. Thanks, Cherry Tart! He's only been totally gluten-free since January, so maybe it will get better with time. It's worrisome to me, but the doctors don't seem worried about it. It seems like gluten can affect every single part of our body!
  7. Thanks so much, you guys. It's great to be able to get opinions from others on things. I'm definitely getting some co-enzyme B's. I was giving him regular B complex, and it seemed to help, but then I was afraid it was too much of a mega dose and stopped. He should have a second opinion, too. I just ordered some serra peptidase, so we'll see if that helps...
  8. Before going gluten-free, my 11-year-old had numerous neurological symptoms. He had what appeared to be partial seizures, though we don't know for sure since he never had one during either of the 2 EEG's he had. He staggered at times, had slurred speech. He had terrible brain fog, couldn't remember the names of common things. He had twitching, at times, that...
  9. Oh boy, we really had this problem too with my son. Food colorings made him crazy hyper, and nutrasweet was terrible for him, too. Dairy and soy were also bad. Take away gluten as well and that doesn't leave many kid-friendly foods to choose from! I got some enzymes that are supposed to help break down gluten and casein, and also has something to break down...
  10. Joan's gluten-free Greatbakes has awesome bagels, exactly like real bagels. Conte's ravioli is really good, too. Mr. Ritts cupcakes are great to keep in the freezer, the chocolate ones are our favorites.
  11. Maybe it's reactive hyperplasia, where lymph tissue starts growing where it shouldn't in response to inflammation and irritation. I have a bunch of little things here and there, though none in the abdominal region. I've had a large one in my underarm for decades and no one seems to know what it is, or care. When I had a mammogram, there was one there that...
  12. We've used the DPP-IV enzymes but in a different brand. I got the Houston Enzymes Trienza brand, and it does help somewhat in a cross-contamination situation. But I can tell it doesn't break down gluten 100%. I think there is some merit to this product when used for the occasional situation when you know you will probably be glutened and there is no escaping...
  13. I accidentally bought soy milk instead of rice milk, and my son was hyped up like crazy for 2 days! Even his teacher couldn't believe the change. We'll try soy again in about 10 years, I think, when he's 21. Why the heck is it so bad? Is it just similar to gluten?
  14. My 11-year-old had a negative Enterolab result, and I was shocked because I was so sure it would be positive. His symptoms were mostly neurological, so I don't know if that's why the test was negative. I'm thinking he may have low IgA levels too, so that would make a false negative. But in any case, he's made a dramatic recovery on the gluten-free diet, so...
  15. That evil Doughboy! He's probably baking in a place a little warmer than 350 degrees after killing off thousands of celiacs with his buttery crescents and flaky biscuits! Underneath that chef's hat were a pair of devil horns.
  16. Bell and Evans gluten-free chicken nuggets and chicken tenders are really good, and they're available in our local grocery store, I don't have to make a special trip to the health food store to get them. Even the gluten eaters at my house like them. I've also made breaded chicken strips by dipping the chicken into melted butter and then rolling in crushed...
  17. Thanks so much for your help. I think I'll try Goji Berries instead of the mushrooms. Supposedly they help the immune system distinguish between what is self and what is not self, as well as a whole bunch of other things. Sounds safer. And thanks for telling me about the Slippery Elm causing miscarriages. I didn't know that.
  18. I too just wish they would do away with food in the classroom. My son's class often has a spread of food for their geography class. They will be studying about one area of the world and then have a sampling of foods from that area. It's very nice and fun for many of the kids, but awkward for those who can't eat everything. There rarely is anything he can...
  19. Thank you for your replies. I guess it's hard to know whether they are a good thing or a bad thing. It's probably better not to take the powdered capsule kind, since it gives you many times as much as you'd get if you just ate some mushrooms. I guess the jury is still out on this one.
  20. I've been searching around for some supplements that might help my gluten sensitive family. I think Slippery Elm is good because it's supposed to coat and protect the intestinal lining, and so far it seems pretty good. But my main concern is that, having gone off gluten, everyone's confused immune systems will turn on other organs or go after other foods...
  21. I just read your post above, the poor thing! Being 16 is hard under the best of conditions, but throw in health problems, a major catastrophe, lots of moving around, and no wonder she's having some trouble. I'm sorry you had to go through all this. If only she could find a celiac friend, that would be ideal, but how would you find one, and kids have to make...
  22. Maybe since the idea of going gluten-free indefinitely seems overwhelming, maybe she'd agree to just try the diet for a set period of time, like two weeks, or whatever you think. I have a 14-year-old whose younger brother and sister are gluten-free, and since he has asthma, I just wanted to try the diet for him, too. Of course he was really against it, but...
  23. Oh my gosh, just try the diet. Don't even wait for the test results. Better health is waiting for you!!
  24. I found out quite by accident that gluten was bothering my kids, and took them off it myself, and then talked to their doctor. The doctor said that a positive dietary response was the best test there is. He said he could do blood tests and biopsies, but the main thing is if they are reacting to gluten, and you take them off it and they are improved, that...
  25. Hey, I wonder if the serotonin thing is why some have trouble sleeping, since serotonin is converted into melatonin, which makes us sleepy. I wonder. My son has trouble sleeping when he's been glutened.
