Open Original Shared Link Does anyone use this? I did a deep deep search and found a couple of vague posts on here talking about how effective it is, but they didn't go into detail at all. If anyone would like to go indepth about it, that would be fantastic. I just had my first scoop today. One (too much actually, I measured it to make sure but it was...

ARCHIVED Beware Of Endangered Species Chocolate Bars.
Pyro replied to Pyro's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've never seen it before at all. That's horrible they'd let something so important like that get cut off. As for dairy, dark chocolate is supposed to be dairy free. Do you have a chocolate to recommend? I don't know a safe brand anymore other than Shaffenburger but they don't taste good IMO. -

Still no reply. I'm becoming very disappointed with this brand. Would some other people mind e-mailing them and asking them the same? -
ARCHIVED Do Figs And Prunes Murder Anyone Else?
Pyro replied to Pyro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been gluten free since this December. Those symptoms sound pretty correct. I put myself on pancreatin, you can buy it online. I take it to help bring down the bloating which seems more of an issue some days than others. -
ARCHIVED Do Figs And Prunes Murder Anyone Else?
Pyro replied to Pyro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Could it be the combination between sugar and fiber? Usually I get about 30g of fiber a day. But I stick to a low-carb diet for well-being reasons. So I never consume things like potatoes (upsets me), brown rice (upsets me), and of course figs on a regular basis. I wonder if maybe my stomach has degraded or something? I take Pancreatin pills (contains... -
I don't understand why, especially because I can eat other things higher in fiber just fine. But whenever I have handful of prunes or figs (dried) they knot up in my stomach and cause serious bloating and terrible gas. Which is awful because I love them, even if figs taste a little funny sometimes. Even worse, I will convince myself to eat them anyway...

ARCHIVED Beware Of Endangered Species Chocolate Bars.
Pyro posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just at the store to pick up my favorite snack, the 88% dark chocolate endangered species bar. Glancing at the label to compare it to the other bars, it appears that they changed everything. Their bars are now produced on shared equipment with dairy. On the website it doesn't mention anything about it, though. I went ahead and emailed them to see... -
In short, after being about 9 months gluten free I became addicted to flavored coffee. For some reason, I am kind of uncareful about drinks and don't do my usual research before drinking anything. Well today I found out that the Sugar Free Vanilla from Torani contains a small amount of barely and I've used it multiple times. The times I used it I only...

Open Original Shared Link This is the only information I can pull about them. I bought a pack of these rice cakes from a Korean store and had trouble finding out if they are safe to eat of not. The fact that they mention soba noodles concerns me, but there still is a chance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really getting lost on what exactly is an allergen to me or not. Dairy (lactose and casein) and peanuts DEFINITELY bother me. But for corn, eggs, and gluten I'm becoming unsure. It's been forever since I was knowingly glutened and it's hard for me to remember what kind of symptoms I was experiencing when I last had the other ones. Especially because I...

Does that mean it still has the possibility of being good? I still haven't thrown it out. -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Tried This "hodgson Mills All Natural Baking Mix"?
Pyro replied to Pyro's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
YUUUUCCCCCK!!!! I dipped my finger in some to taste the powder and it was freaking awful. It tasted like chewed grass and rotten lemons! I know flour itself isn't supposed to be any kind of delicacy, but should it taste so vile? I remember normal flour tasting kind of plain, but breadish. If mine tastes like battery acid and wood ash, wouldn't that make... -

ARCHIVED Advice From Celiacs With Constipation
Pyro replied to Wonka's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I found that it really helped when I incorporated higher amounts of fat into my diet, even though I was on an already high fat diet. The trick was to get more free standing oil and greases rather than just that found in meat. Ground beef is pretty damn good at it. -
ARCHIVED What's Good To Eat In Cleveland?
Pyro replied to Lins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Honestly, I'd stay away from those chain places. They are run of the mill, and actually kind of nasty. If you like ethnic foods there are two great places. One is Shanghai Place, owned by new owners who are really health concious and definitely should be able to accomodate us. They are known to treat their customers EXCELLENTLY. They have raving reviews... -
ARCHIVED My Husband Just Doesn't Understand

Sit him down, and show him this site. Gather a bunch of topics from all the sections you find applicable and let him read up on other people's experiences and what you are going through. If he still doesn't get it, throw your best cutlery at him! -
Well, I did it and I'm very proud of myself. There were even two points where it was really surprising that I just didn't do it. The first being, after I made this topic. I just sat by the offenders thinking about how each would taste, feel, and satisfy me. I kept assuring myself that it would only hurt and that I would be angry for the next week for cheating...

ARCHIVED How Do You Talk To Your Relatives About Celiac Disease?
Pyro replied to Joyous's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My family is unapproachable about the subjecy. My mom always has really bad stomach problems, my sister is always getting sick, my one cousin gets rashes, etc. but they all just ignore it and tell me the disease is all in my head. "Suck it up!" or "You're just making yourself sicker by excluding allergins. You need to make your body get used to it." ... -
We happened to be the family to host Christmas, and because of that there are THREE huge trays of tons of delicious looking sweets. Including my favorite waffle cookies. Ugghh! My mind keeps trying to convince myself that my cousin is right, it's all in my head, but my stomach says no. It's so hard!

ARCHIVED Ground Beef
Pyro replied to kimberly O'Brien's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, I know that. But it's still a pain in the ass. I also really hate the antagonizing. "Oh, I bet it's got GLUTEN in it. Better watch out for the GLUTEN!!" or "What doesn't have gluten in it? *annoyed sigh*" Like it's my fault companies spray gluten freely onto everything that isn't fresh. Oh well, at least I'll be moving out again really... -
ARCHIVED Ground Beef
Pyro replied to kimberly O'Brien's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, sorry for dragging up the old thread but I was curious. The thing is, this ground beef is from a large chain (giant eagle if you've heard of it) and I know for a fact that I tolerate fats pretty well. Eating fistfuls of bacon and fatty steaks is no problem for me. I'll just stop eating it until I'm sure that there are no possible contams around... -
If all else fails, maybe you could try a reduction. I never had a turkey sauce, but from what I am imagining it sounds good. Has anyone tried that? Do you think your family would mind a more watery sauce, if it's full of flavor?

ARCHIVED Ground Beef
Pyro replied to kimberly O'Brien's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Could there be cross contamination on the machinery (perhaps from sausage)? The ground beef I've been eating for the last day has made me feel awful. I'm pretty sure it's the ground beef, because that's really the only plausible thing. Unless I became contaminated in a really complicated fashion. Could walking through a bakery have lasting effects? -
ARCHIVED Low Fat, High Carb, Gluten Free/dairy Free Recipes Preferrably For Christmas
Pyro replied to Pyro's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Potatoes are fine, it's just that I was starting to get really into my carb ups and all. All those tasty little pastries I was discovering are now a thing of the past, and sadly can never be eaten again. Now I'm stuck with oats, potatoes, corn, and other less elaborate things. Thanks for that link by the way. I'll be sure to look all over that forum... -
ARCHIVED Low Fat, High Carb, Gluten Free/dairy Free Recipes Preferrably For Christmas
Pyro replied to Pyro's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
It's best to avoid fiber and fructose as much as you can during a carb-load. Last night I did a lot of searching on the net and decided to go with a Mexican Christmas. Lots of rice, corn tortillas, quinoa (hope it doesn't have too much fiber), and sugary stuff.
