ARCHIVED Replies For Clarins, Origins And Caudalie
Lisa16 replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wrote Caudalie about the problem and here is the response I received. Their response is very enlightening, but also worrisome for us in terms of foreign gluten-free certification. As with Weleda, who is certified gluten free according to the German celiac association standards, these terms can vary a great deal. I am not going to use the shampoo... -
Maybe you saw my recent posts on cosmetics and toiletries. I didn't think about them until my fifth month of gluten-free-- mostly b/c I was hearing things like "you can't absorb it through the skin. Don't worry." Then I used a lipgloss with tocopherol and got dh blisters on my arm (worse case yet) and started writing companies and throwing away products...

Lisa16 replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Bad information! Based on th4e email from Caudalie, I ordered a bottle of their shampoo. It has wheat protein in it. I am hopping mad at them! Now I have to return the bottle and pay the postage because they told me wrong. The shampoo is NOT okay. Lisa -
ARCHIVED Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Lisa16 replied to JustThisGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The regular ones are safe. Do not get the ones with wafers. I do not know about the white chocolate ones either-- white chocolate is sometimes not safe. Enjoy your reeses. Oh-- there is a long list of gluten free candy put out by ROCK (relatives of celiac kids). Check it out on the web. Lisa -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Reaction To Bandaids?
Lisa16 replied to Nan2N's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Add me to the list of people who react badly. I always thought it was my latex allergy. You can just ask them to give you a cotton ball after they draw blood and apply pressure. -

Firstly, thanks for writing the emails and for posting here. This issue is really frustrating to me personally. I got zapped by lipgloss. All I could see in it was a tocopherol. I would rather have eaten a big old piece of my cousin's wedding cake. I know exactly what you mean. I went on a make-up and bath products rampage and wrote more emails than... -

So I went and put the cream on again-- plus four reaction city! Red, raised, itchy blotches-- and now featuring tiny raised bumps. Dang! It is not the nuts. That means the alcohol? Dang! Because... -

Lisa16 replied to Roob's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Roob! I was in your situation eight years ago or so. I had highly positive blood work and a negative intestinal biopsy. They realeased me into the wild and told me I didn't have celiac. They were very wrong. I got incredibly sick in those eight years. I developed DH (confirmed), which is how it finally came to light that I had it all along. I... -

ARCHIVED Questions About Intrepreting Weleda Statement
Lisa16 replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks... I am starting to think almonds and pistachios are out for me. Taybe there is something about the oil extract.... The ingredient list was so simple and I couldn't see anything that looked even remotely gluteny so I thought it would be safe. It has a nice texture. It has a nice smell. Bummer. I am finding it really frustrating to find... -

Lisa16 replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Ravenwoodglass-- I do appreciate the info. I was a little surprised by their statement. Do you have any insight into which ingredient(s) may have caused that reaction? I also got the same reaction from the dessert essence pistachio foot cream. Do you think it is tree nuts? Lisa -

Lisa16 replied to Joni63's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well.. the thing about it is that one of the formulations (the chewable pills) actually says "gluten free." Open Original Shared Link Scooble down to the last entry and you will see it. I had to ask a pharmacist in Richmond, which is how I knew they were safe. I bet you can order them online. I am sorry for you-- I know how bad it can be. I... -

Just an update on Weleda. Yesterday I used their "almond moisturizing cream" (the kind in a pink tube) and I broke out in a hot, raised red rash all over my face (where ever I had applied it.) It was NOT dh, but it was almost like the allergic reaction I get to taking a sulpha med or ingesting MSG. The rash lasted about four hours and then dissipated... -

Maybe you can email them back, since they were so quick to respond, with the vitamin e quesiton. It does matter-- I got zapped... -

Joni-- if you are in Canada or near Canada, get yourself some GRAVOL. I took the little pills-- there were some other formats too. Maybe you can order it on the internet. I took it on a recent trip to Vancouver and it was great. We reented a SUV and my boyfriend drives like a maniac. I needed it badly. Lisa -
