  1. I wrote Caudalie about the problem and here is the response I received. Their response is very enlightening, but also worrisome for us in terms of foreign gluten-free certification. As with Weleda, who is certified gluten free according to the German celiac association standards, these terms can vary a great deal. I am not going to use the shampoo...
  2. Maybe you saw my recent posts on cosmetics and toiletries. I didn't think about them until my fifth month of gluten-free-- mostly b/c I was hearing things like "you can't absorb it through the skin. Don't worry." Then I used a lipgloss with tocopherol and got dh blisters on my arm (worse case yet) and started writing companies and throwing away products...
  3. Bad information! Based on th4e email from Caudalie, I ordered a bottle of their shampoo. It has wheat protein in it. I am hopping mad at them! Now I have to return the bottle and pay the postage because they told me wrong. The shampoo is NOT okay. Lisa
  4. The regular ones are safe. Do not get the ones with wafers. I do not know about the white chocolate ones either-- white chocolate is sometimes not safe. Enjoy your reeses. Oh-- there is a long list of gluten free candy put out by ROCK (relatives of celiac kids). Check it out on the web. Lisa
  5. Add me to the list of people who react badly. I always thought it was my latex allergy. You can just ask them to give you a cotton ball after they draw blood and apply pressure.
  6. Oooh Confused-- watch out! I have recently been on a cosmetics/ toiletries info finding tear (got glutened from lipgloss-- dh blisters) and Physicians Formula makes this statement on their website: FAQs Q. Does Physicians Formula products contain Gluten? A. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that none of the ingredients, or derivatives in our...
  7. woo-hoo! Another one for the "okay to use" list. Thank you Michelle.
  8. Wow! Thanks for the info. Even though it is vitamin E, I am really starting to think it is bad stuff.
  9. Firstly, thanks for writing the emails and for posting here. This issue is really frustrating to me personally. I got zapped by lipgloss. All I could see in it was a tocopherol. I would rather have eaten a big old piece of my cousin's wedding cake. I know exactly what you mean. I went on a make-up and bath products rampage and wrote more emails than...
  10. Oh dang! Dang dang. Okay-- I tried the ground up almonds and for good measure I put it in macademia nut oil (just happened to have some). No reaction. So I went and put the cream on again-- plus four reaction city! Red, raised, itchy blotches-- and now featuring tiny raised bumps. Dang! It is not the nuts. That means the alcohol? Dang! Because...
  11. Hi Roob! I was in your situation eight years ago or so. I had highly positive blood work and a negative intestinal biopsy. They realeased me into the wild and told me I didn't have celiac. They were very wrong. I got incredibly sick in those eight years. I developed DH (confirmed), which is how it finally came to light that I had it all along. I...
  12. Excellent suggestion-- genius. I will do this nutty test today I have also had this type of a reaction to a Kneipp bath product, but I no longer remember which one it as (I just avoid them all now). Once again you have helped me! You should get a medal. Lisa
  13. They do! It was my favorite snack before dx. But there are some kinds that don't... maybe she means one of those.
  14. Thanks... I am starting to think almonds and pistachios are out for me. Taybe there is something about the oil extract.... The ingredient list was so simple and I couldn't see anything that looked even remotely gluteny so I thought it would be safe. It has a nice texture. It has a nice smell. Bummer. I am finding it really frustrating to find...
  15. Thanks Ravenwoodglass-- I do appreciate the info. I was a little surprised by their statement. Do you have any insight into which ingredient(s) may have caused that reaction? I also got the same reaction from the dessert essence pistachio foot cream. Do you think it is tree nuts? Lisa
  16. Well.. the thing about it is that one of the formulations (the chewable pills) actually says "gluten free." Open Original Shared Link Scooble down to the last entry and you will see it. I had to ask a pharmacist in Richmond, which is how I knew they were safe. I bet you can order them online. I am sorry for you-- I know how bad it can be. I...
  17. Sorry-- I forgot to put the list of ingredients: Ingredients (INCI): Water (Aqua), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond), Glyceryl Stearate SE, Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Beeswax, Prunus Domestica (Plum), Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid.
  18. Just an update on Weleda. Yesterday I used their "almond moisturizing cream" (the kind in a pink tube) and I broke out in a hot, raised red rash all over my face (where ever I had applied it.) It was NOT dh, but it was almost like the allergic reaction I get to taking a sulpha med or ingesting MSG. The rash lasted about four hours and then dissipated...
  19. Thank you Dolcenotte! If we band together we can get a lot of up to date information pretty quickly. Like you, I wasn't finding information about many of the brands I use here and there was no info on the company website. Maybe you can email them back, since they were so quick to respond, with the vitamin e quesiton. It does matter-- I got zapped...
  20. Joni-- if you are in Canada or near Canada, get yourself some GRAVOL. I took the little pills-- there were some other formats too. Maybe you can order it on the internet. I took it on a recent trip to Vancouver and it was great. We reented a SUV and my boyfriend drives like a maniac. I needed it badly. Lisa
  21. I just found out I have both of these genes too. I am of German, Polish and Scotch-Irish ancestry. Here is my list of symptoms: DH (confirmed) gallbladder out infertility hysterectomy (because of tumors) IBS-d misdiagnosis for over 20 years (bloating, gas, D-- you name it) "oil slicks" in the WC tonsil "stones" mouth sores migraine headaches...
  22. The house I bought came with a higher end Kenmore-- it is fantastic. I will replace it with another Kenmore when it bites the big one. Lisa
  23. Thank you for doing this, Pat. I have been on my own crusade lately to find safe products, and I had not contacted these two. I very much appreciate the information and the trouble you took to post it. If we can kind of band together, we can really come up with lots of good, up-to-date information fast. Lisa
  24. Update-- specific products. I asked about a few of the products that I like and here is what he said: I am wondering about the following products: gotu kola body lotion gotu kola body oil Chamomile eye oil Essential oil for dry skin gentle gel cleanser Thank you! Dear Lisa I checked all these products and could not find...
