Three more replies have come in. Some are confusing. Caudalie writes: Good Morning Lisa, Thank you for your interest in CAUDALIE! I am pleased to inform you that ALL CAUDALIE products, including our masks, are Gluten-free. Our Gentle Cleanser has oat extract and not gluten. Should you have any further questions or desire additional assistance... -

Lisa16 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The replies from RUSK and Lancome have come in, as well as a statement from Physician's formula. Physician's formula is a BUST-- they "cannot guarantee the source of their ingredients." I threw their products away. Lancome sent a list of ingredients. Here is their email: April 4, 2008 Thank you for your interest in Lanc -
ARCHIVED All Nars Cosmetics Gluten Free!
Lisa16 replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been writing to companies about their products. NARS answered in less than 1 hour. Maybe it is a case of "you get what you pay for." They also have a satisfaction guarantee. They were, hands down, the most responsive company. Lisa -
ARCHIVED Help! Can Anyone Make Heads Or Tails Of This?
Lisa16 replied to Dandelion's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
After getting badly glutened (DH blisters!) by some lipgloss iwht no "obvious" gluten products except tocopherol, I went through my cosmetics basket and started writing companies. I wrote to about 30 companies yesterday alone. I will be posting their replies as they come in. This is a frustrating part of celiac because many of these companies cannot... -

ARCHIVED Just Wondering Who's From Minnesota
Lisa16 replied to linds's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you Testy Tommy! I went to Lakewind's today and it is even better than I imagined! It is 70 miles for me, but I will go back. I was delighted to find the glutino microwave dinners (wow!) and the pizzas. And as you say, there were tons of products I have never seen in St. Cloud. They had some unusual flours and mixes. I blew my whole grocery... -
ARCHIVED Not The Best Way To Meet People
Lisa16 replied to curlyfries's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Lisa! How are you doing today? What you say about the chiropractic tape is interesting. There is a thread somewhere here about people who react like that to the adhesive on bandaids-- I do too. I hope that your pain will eventually go away and you won't need the tape anymore. That would be great. I used to get the most horrible migraines every... -
ARCHIVED Not The Best Way To Meet People
Lisa16 replied to curlyfries's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Lisa! I also had the neck pain and muscle spasms (you could see them!) in my back! They are mostly gone now. Maybe that is a "just be patient kind of thing." I went to chiropractors and physical therapy for it and nothing helped. It was the gluten in my case. This probably took the longest to go away and if I accidentally get glutened, it can come... -

Hi Lisa! Welcome from yet another Lisa. I am pretty new myself. This is month 4 for me. How long have you been gluten-free? It took me about 6 days to begin to see solid evidence of recovery and I am still getting better this far out. The joint pain and nerve troubles took longer and I still get the skin problems-- especially if I get glutened.... -

I am sorry you had such a poopy experience and I am even sorrier that they didn't have a cake for you. I am glad that you know you can't eat gluten and are not sick anymore! Now that is something to celebrate! Do you like angel food cake? I made one yesterday and it turned out really well. It has rice and tapioca flour. If you want ther recipe... -
Can you get some kind of filter for the water? Maybe you can get one for the kitchen tap so you can wash your veggies. And there are some that you can screw onto your shower head that might take out whatever it is. You would have to find out what the contamination is, exactly, and then figure out what kind of filter you need. On the up side, once...

Lisa16 replied to Lisa16's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just got a phone call from my father telling me that my cousin (his sister's daughter) has severely abnormal liver tests and they suspect a cancer/tumor. (This is the mother of the little boy with arthritis.) He wanted to know if celiac could cause liver damage and I believe he is starting to come around. He was going to call his sister tonight and tell... -

And the terrible thing is that it might actually result in cancer for us-- that is the pattern so far. I am stuck in a HMO and the doctor I am assigned to is not famous for having an open mind. The notes were from his colleagues-- specialists or on-call doctors I saw! I am going to see if I can change plans or something. I can really understand now why... -

Wow! This was really a revelation. I am reeling. Thank you so much. I have really learned a lot tonight! And I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me. Perhaps I will have the gene testing done-- that way we will have more information on the table and we might be able to figure out where it is exactly and help somebody I love... -

Thank you both-- I went back into Green and looked at what he says about genes (pg 70-71). I read it again. Lord! He says, "ten percent of first degree relatives will have celiac disease" -- oh man! I so wish I hadn't seen that because it is even worse odds than 1 in 22! But even after re-reading this section, I am still not quite clear how the... -

ARCHIVED Family History, Testing And Broaching The Subject
Lisa16 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a diagnosed celiac (since December). I took Happy Girl's advice and asked my first degree relatives to get tested. So far, only my mother has, and she was negative for antibodies. I suspect the problem comes on my father's side. His mother died of lymphoma in her 60s and all 5 of her siblings died of some type of cancer related to the digestive... -

Here's another foul fowl one (although it is tough to top the mallard!) For awhile I worked in West Texas, and my introduction to the state was a little bit upsetting. I had just crossed the border from LA and I saw some buzzards eating their lunch on the road. I kept getting closer, yet they showed no signs of flying away. Finally I was almost upon... -

Wow Ken! Did they charge you extra for the flight? When you were in Minneapolis, you were in my neck of the woods! I would have come rescued you and fed you some hot Sri Lankan curry Here is another one-- it was Thanksgiving break and I was out walking the dog. It was cold and muddy after an early snow and thaw and we were cresting the top of... -
ARCHIVED Funny Tales Of The Bizarre And Surreal

I have one to start! I was in college and it was a cold days-- starting to rain. I discovered i needed some things from the local drugstore, so I went to the bank and got out $5.00 (I am dating myself badly now). As i was coming out of the bank I sank nearly up to my knees in fresh concrete. I stood there and let the surrealness of the situation...
