  1. Eggs that are older, peel easier. The fresher the egg the stronger it sticks to the shell. I never boil eggs. I put them in a pot, cover with cold water, bring to a boil, take off heat, cover and let sit for 10 minutes. Run under cold water and peel. Very easy and they come out perfect every time.
  2. I'm finding I'm using recipe books less and less and relying on the internet and others tweaks of recipes. I like this site Open Original Shared Link , Open Original Shared Link , Open Original Shared Link , Open Original Shared Link , the baking section of this website and the recipe section of Open Original Shared Link

I try. I must replace dishcloths around 3 times a day (everytime I see the gluten cloths lying on top of mine), reminding my family is a lesson in futility. I'm starting the gluten donation box today, I want everything that can make me sick out of this house ASAP.

  6. I tried all sorts of iron supplements and I couldn't tolerate any of them until I tried the Floravit. I've been on it since April and I'm no longer anemic but I'm still taking it because I'd like my ferritin to get a bit more in the midrange (between the celiac and my heavy periods I ended up with iron deficiency anemia, Floravit has been a great find for...

We have quite nice water here but even then I still put it through my brita. I did tell my husband and kids that this house is going completely gluten free and, to my surprise, there was no complaining. I guess seeing me this sick and non-functional has then willing to do what ever it takes to help me get better. Now to find the energy to clean all the...
  12. That's pretty much where I am at right now. I need to make this house completely gluten free. I need to get well. Time for a family meeting.
  13. Hi everyone, I'll give you a bit of background first. Ten years ago, my body fell apart (joint/muscle pain, chronic sciatica, fatigue) and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (well the diagnosis took about 5 years to happen). Upon reading about fibromyalgia I decided to do an elimination diet to see if any foods were a problem (according to everything I...
  14. My 13 year old daughter just started the gluten free diet last week (after her biopsy). So far so good. She is used to gluten free food because I have Celiac disease. I have been involving her in making alot of the gluten free foods that I supply for her because she is keen about learning to cook. I have found a great bread wrap at Gluten Free gobsmacked...
  15. I have no addition information to give you. I have been gluten free for 1 year and I am having severe brain fog (feel stoned, having trouble tracking conversations, trouble concentration, trouble with work retrieval, anxiety etc...). Mine seems to be associated with the new food intolerances that I have been trying to figure out (I'm going to a naturapath...
  16. Hi vcSmall, Even though you have mild symptoms, you will still be creating damage if you do not adhere to a very strict gluten free diet (my symptoms were not severe until I went gluten free and now I react strongly to any exposure to gluten). Stay away from mainstream cereals, the oats can have cross contamination issues (they get processed, transported...
  17. Alot of asian dishes use cornstarch (they call it velveting). Here is the information about velveting that I received from an asian friend. Velveting meat to Tenderize Velveting meat makes for that soft and slightly slippery texture you find in a good Cantonese stir-fried beef. It requires thin sliced beef (against the grain), cornstarch, soy...
  18. Try your recipe with cubes of fontina cheese mixed in. When you heat it you get little pockets of yummy cheese. I sometimes make this with Mild or Hot Italian sausage and it's really nice too. It's a pretty versitile recipe.
  19. I also brine my turkeys. It makes a fabulous turkey!!!
  20. I buy gluten free ginger cookies, crush them mix with butter (not sure what I'll use not that I'm dairy free too) and press into the pan. The last time I did this my family said that they liked it better than regular crust.
