  1. Hunt's ketchup, eh? No wonder I've had problems! And I thought it was morning sickness! Oh, this makes me so mad! Oops, nevermind, it is Heinz. must be morning sickness afterall! Does organic go bad faster? -donna
  2. Kate, Can you recall at all how it was made? Did it need sugar? Or egg? Oil? Any type of flour? Thanks, -d
  3. I used to make chicken stew with dumplings all the time. I would use bisquick and milk mixture and spoon it on top of the chicken for the last few minutes of cooking. I have gluten-free all-purpose flour and I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried making gluten-free dumplings, and if so, how? Thanks, -donna
  4. Ah ha! My sister just recommended the peanut oil today! I will definately try this on my fish tomorrow. Would I still flour, then egg, then cereal for the fish too? (I need gluten-free cooking 101 for dummies!) Thanks, -donna
  5. This sounds like I was too, though worse than I was. I lost weight rapidly, could barely walk, felt dizzy, tired and weak all of the time. I had very, very low blood pressure and blood sugar. I had the numbness, bone-pain, twitches etc. My doctors thought I had MS for a long time, but an MRI never found leisions on the brain. Sometimes people have trouble...
  6. I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but to avoid contamination, you will need to use a seperate toaster than others, and don't share condiments that may have crumbs in it, like butter, peanute butter, etc. Get seperate jars if you need to, and label them "gluten-free". I use gluten-free lotion and all make up too, b/c I know there's a possibility...
  7. I cooked the tenders (and boy were they tender) by dipping in egg, then all-purpous flour, and rolling in crushed rice-chex-style cereal and frying in canola oil. I didn't like the greasy taste though. I don't care much for the strong flavor of canola. Anyone know of another way? I like the cereal I used, though, it didn't stick well after having already...
  8. Has anyone tried Pam's Celiac Kitchen prepared meals? Are they any good. I'm really desperate. Hungry all the time, no motivation to cook. Pregnancy pickiness isn't helping. I never like to cook, but I particularly loathe it while pregnant. Pam's kitchen meals are expensive, but I'll try anything at this point. Thanks -donna
  9. sounds hopeful! Have either of you (or anyone else) ever tried the Viva Italian? I just can't believe it could be gluten-free. That would be so awesome! It was my favorite dressing and marinade! -donna
  10. Ok, I am in the US and couldn't find a gluten-free US listing. But as far as ingredients go, do you think they would label wheat after vinegar? I've never seen that before. I would love to try this dressing (Viva Italian) but I want to make sure. Really relieved about the Jello! -donna
  11. I am really confused about Kraft. I see a product lising for Canada, but nothing for the US. I've read here that Kraft CLEARLY LABELS allergens after each ingredient, but now I've read that "natural flavors" may have gluten in it? And I also bought Viva Italian salad dressing b/c there was nothing in the ingredients to worry about, but I don't even see...
  12. I forgot about avenin. I'm sure I read it in an article on this site. Oh well, wishful thinking! -donna
  13. I know I've read that the oats in the US are contaminated, but what about in Europe? Does anyone ever order oats and oat products (cereal, cookies, etc.) from anywhere else? If so, where please? Thanks, Missing Oats (Especially Cheerios!) -donna
  14. Yeah, the problem with dredging and baking is there is nothing to wet the flour. I don't know how nuggets will turn out this way, but when I fry chicken like that, I put a big slab of butter on top of each one, and that crisps up the flour nicely. You can even pour a little broth over it while it's cooking to do the same thing. -donna
  15. I made tenders dipped in egg, all purpose gluten-free flour and ground up chex-style cereal, fried in vegetable oil 5 min. each side, and it was yummy. I salted them a bit also, but I will try a little paprika in the mix next time. Thanks so much for these ideas! Maybe I'll try crumbs or corn flakes next time, but the rice-chex (gluten-free) tasted...
  16. my local grocer has a specialty section that sells it. Shaws' Supermarket in the Wild Harvest section. I have a Target here too, but I never thought to look for it there. -d
  17. He he, this is true! That's why I love it here! Thanks everyone. I saw the thread on chicken nuggets, and I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. I bought chicken tenders and I'm going to cut them into smaller pieces, dip in egg and all purpose flour (hoping that will be a good flour) and the crumbs. (I think that's how to do it. I'll check the thread...
  18. Hey, I don't cook much, okay? Is there anything special I need to do to make bread crumbs? Just take any old gluten-free bread and let it dry out or something? Then break it all apart? I have EnerG tapioca loaf and Food For Life white rice bread. Are those okay? Won't they get moldy? Thanks -donna
  19. OMG!!!! REALLY???? You guys just made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS! -donna
  20. I have a package of Cadbury Cream Eggs before me, and I NEEEEEEEEED to know if they are gluten-free. I don't have them on my list, and I can't call to find out right now - it's a weekend. Can't tell by the ingredients (flavorings, etc.) Thanks, -donna
  21. Merika
  22. Is Witch Hazel gluten-free? Also, what is distillate? Is that okay? Thanks, -donna
  23. lol - thanks for getting back to me so swiftly. I actually cooked it and started eating it even though no one had answered yet (I couldn't resist ), but this time I am trying to eat it slower - THIS IS SO YUMMY! I just finished half. Thanks!
  24. It says it is made in a facility that also uses wheat. Has anyone ever tried it? I did once last summer and had indigestion, but it could've been cuz I ate it so fast (it was SOOOOO good!) Thanks, donna
