  1. Is Loreal really okay? Which ones, all? The only gluten-free shampoos I know of are Neutrogena (which I can't find-except the clean-for-color one that I don't like) and Toms of Maine (which is REALLY hard to find). thanks, d
  2. I have the same problem. I also agree that it's phychological. Though it's a pain in the butt ( or stomach, rather) to have to do this, I have found that if I retreat to the bedroom and REALLY meditate on it, I can "release" the anxiety and stop the symptoms. It takes a good 20-30 minutes or so, but I've gone quite a while now without a problem, so maybe...
  3. I see, but I'm not referring to crumbs but the actual cookie dough. And Pillsbury dough is REALLY greasy and hard to wash off too. I know my problem was probably the not gluten-free cookie I unknowingly ate (Newman's Own), but I'll probably move to gloves next time I bake for the kids. BTW, I personally don't care for Pamela's, however, I simply...

    ARCHIVED Communion

wow, that is so great! Thanks Kathy! I just left a message for my pastor about it and I added the order form to my favorites - just praying he'll say yes! I didn't receive this Sunday - didn't want to take a chance - and glad I played it safe too, b/c last night I ate a wheat-free (but not gluten-free - oops!) cookie and was quite sick. Good thing I...
  5. Thanks for the muffin ideas. REALLY don't like baking though. ------------------------------------------------------------ For breakfast options... look for puffed millet, about $1/bag at Wilds Oats, also puffed (brown) rice. I also cook and eat polenta like warm cereal. Also consider cooking whole millet and buckwheat groats. Also brown rice, which in...
  6. Actually, I've heard you CAN absorb it through the skin, but who knows. Anyway, I figured out what happened: I was VERY careful about making the cookies, BUT, I bought a new cookie to try yesterday and today I found out that it was merely wheat free NOT gluten-free. That explains it! No more Newman's Own cookies!!! Thanks! donna
  7. This is great stuff. Nice flavor and good for you too. Just called them and the only SweetLeaf Company stevia product which has gluten are the tablets. Yippee! Another goodie! donna
  8. I try to get gluten-free household products just because of the chance of getting some in my mouth accidentally ------------------------------------------------- Never thought of that. I'm calling Cascade... Hmmm...the lady at Cascade told me that none of their products have gluten. That Proctor and Gamble is very careful to list any known allergens...
  9. All ACT III are gluten-free also (and cheap too!)

Hmmmm. I ate there today and not feeling well now. I thought it was something else, but I wonder... I had the bbq chick (without the spices -they weren't sure if they were gluten-free) and a salad w/out croutons but had cheese (was that not gluten-free? I didn't notice it said to hold it). No dessert. Whad'ya think? donna
  11. I just made Pilsbury ready to bake cookies with the american flag on them (like the one's in the canister that you cut and bake, but they're in a box already cut too. Of course, I didn't eat any, and I washed my hands after, but I'm suddenly sick (1hour later) and wonder if this is why. Could I have absorbed it through my hands? Does anyone get physically...
  12. Wow, thanks! I'll try them next weekend! donna
  13. Hi again! Like I said, I only take the usually recommended stuff: multi and calcium. The OPCs and ORACs are for everyone - weren't recommended by my doc (he never recommended anything - I left him and have a new dr now). My new doctor is more alternative (and VERY good!) and I brought the OPCs to see what he'd say and he said they are fantastic and harmless...
  14. Oooh, ooooh, oooh! I almost forgot! Aloe Vera juice!!!! Very good stuff for all of the digestive system. Great for heartburn, stomach problems (ulcers, upset, etc.), constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel, celiac, you name it. It is bitter, but the brand I take is from Market America (the same company as the Isotonix) and is delicious - strawberry...
  15. when a doctor first suspected Celiac last winter, I went gluten-free and my friend gave me some "Isotonix" brand supplements because I couldn't swallow all the supplements I used to take any more (never was good at swallowing pills!). The Isotonix are a powder you mix with water. It is absorbed faster and more efficiently than a pill form. I've heard...
  16. Tiffany, Where do you get "Trader Joe's"? Through the mail? I've never seen it - not even at Whole Foods Market today - the only place left that would have sold it around here (MA). thanks, donna
  17. Hi Tiffany, I'm not much for baking, so not sure I'd be adventurous enought to make my own stuff, but thanks to this forum, I went on-line to Kinnikinnic (sp?) and another one I can't remember the name of to get some breads and buns. Today I went to Whole Fodds and I just bought some "mighty tasy gluten-free hot cereal" and garbanzo beans and sesame...
  18. My product listing of gluten-free products has listings for household products like diswashing liquid and laundry detergent and stuff like that. If I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis, do I need to use these? There aren't many gluten-free ones listed. The only cleaners I'd be able to use are Seventh Generation (expensive!) and I'll miss my Cascade...
  19. Hi! I have the CSA (Celiac Sprue Association) Product Listing. They put one out every fall and have an 800 number to call to find out any updates or if you have questions. It really takes all of the mystery out of what is and isn't gluten-free because, unlike me trying to call the manufacturer to find out if it's gluten-free, I might just talk to someone...
  20. We have Shaw's Supermarkets and some of the Shaw's brand foods are gluten-free: lunchmeats (pre-packed), yogurt, even acetaminophen to name a few. I saw Safeway has many of it's own too. The CSA Product Listing has all of the HyVee, Safeway, and Shaw's gluten-free foods in it, along with a few others. donna
  21. Hi! I've been diagnosed and gluten-free for 1 1/2 months. I am also hypoglycemic and have been having trouble maintaining good sugar levels on this diet. Typically, the prescription for HG is a diet with complex carbs like whole grain bread, pastas and cereals. But, all I've been able to find for bread cereal and pasta is rice pasta, corn flakes cereal...

    ARCHIVED Communion

Oh my God! (no pun intended) A friend of mine was just telling me about the new, really low gluten hosts, but she didn't know where to get them. I'm Roman Catholic and CANNOT for the life of me imagine not being able to receive communion. I've been gluten-free for almost 1 1/2 months. I am only slightly above normal, but I also have hypoglycemia...
