  1. I'm pregnant and I'm really hating protein right now (except an occasion egg or cheese) and craving sweets (and pizza and bread and everything gluten-FILLED!). Is there such a thing as a gluten-free AND dairy free protein drink? It's the only solution I can think of (unless someone can think of something sweet, dairy free and full of protein! ) ...
  2. Ditto, ditto and ditto! I basically felt totally intoxicated all day, but without the warm and fuzzy feeling. I had a pulsating headache right in the front of my head. I had tics and tremors constantly. I would nearly pass out when I got up in the morning from the dizziness and when I walked a just stumbled around tripping over my own feet. I'm sure...
  3. Oh, that's good news then. I never got a reply from the manufacturer and I've been dying to use this natural toothpaste I used to like. thank you!
  4. Is this a gluten-free ingredient? Or is it a general term that could be used for different ingredients - like, wheat gluten perhaps? Thanks -donna
  5. hi I have Desert Essence natural tea tree oil toothpaste and wondering if the ingredient 'vegetable glycerin' is gluten or not. I can't get a human being to speak to me at this company and no one returns any of my numerous phone calls. thanks, donna
  6. Tammy, I know of two Outbacks in Mass. There is one in Seekonk (southeast) and one in Bellingham (closer to boston). Dog trials? You wouldn't be going to the Cape in September are you? I live about 30 miles north or the cape and my parents live there, and eating gluten-free isn't too hard since you can always have steamed shellfish or boiled lobster ...
  7. Jessica, Thank you so much! I can't contact them b/c there is no literature with the med. The pharmacy said they wouldn't have an answer for me until tomorrow sometime. I hope you are right about not being able to absorb it vaginally, b/c the ultrasound tech seemed to think it was possible when we were discussing the gel they use on the transvaginal...
  8. I am 6 weeks pregnant and my doctor prescribed me Prometrium progesterone capsules to insert to avoid miscarriage. I asked the stupid pharmacist if they were gluten-free and they said yes. I took one tonight and it leaves a burning sensation, and now I'm thinking back about it, and when I asked if it was gluten-free, they just went down the aisle, whispered...
  9. WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!!
  10. Thank you KayJay! All 8 aren't sick? lol - that is LUCK! I'm glad you're feeling better - hope you can get completely over it soon though. I'm sure it's tough trying to plan anything with that lingering over your head (or should I say, stomach?). Enjoy your pregnancy! -donna
  11. Ah, yes. Eggs and cheese - I've been eating plenty of lately . I have some nuts, but I never think of eating them - it doesn't seem very satisfying b/c you can only eat so many. I know what you mean about forcing yourself to eat meat/fish. I remembered that with last one I doctored everything up so I couldn't taste it. We've always eaten such bland...
  12. There are a few gluten-free brands that I know of, but this is from last year's list, so you may want to jot down the #s to some of these brands the next time you go shopping and double check with them. B&G: Pickles and Capers Bubblies: Bread and Butter Pickle Chips & Kosher Dill Cains: (All Cuts)Kosher Dill & Sweet Cucumber Trader Joe's...
  13. My favorite hot cereal is "Mighty Tasty gluten-free Hot Cereal" by Bob's Red Mill. It really is awesome and has a nice, smooth consistency. Hmmm...I eat rice bread, and I really like it. It is by 'Food For Life'. Oh, it is WHITE rice bread though. Maybe that is why. It is just slightly sweeter than regular while bread, and a little dense, but very...
  14. The last time I spoke to someone from the CSA, I was told that they were taking the peanut butter cups off the gluten-free list b/c they were no longer gluten-free. She didn't specify why. I still have their 800# - I didn't even think to call. I don't know if they are open on weekends, but I'll give them a try...... nope M-F, 9-5....shoot! Btw, the...
  15. If emulsifiers and stabilizers are gluten-free, then I am truly perplexed as to why Reeses Peanutbutter Cups are no longer gluten-free. Am I wrong? - PLEASE TELL ME I'M WRONG - I really miss those things ! I read the ingrediets for the heck of it while waiting in a checkout line, and, well, I think I'm pretty good at reading labels now, and I couldn't find...
  16. Edited to put in separate thread......
  17. Like my diet wasn't restricted enough already on the gluten-free diet, now I'm losing my taste for meat and fish . Not surprising actually, I've always experienced that with pregnancy, but fortunately, I didn't have to restrict my diet, as I was not Celiac at the time. What do y'all do to keep from 'wasting away' while being pregnant and losing...
  18. As a former restaurant manager, I just want to put this out there: Has anyone considered the handling of the food prior to it being ordered? I had a culinary prep person making our salads and chopping up the meats and veggies into pre-set portions for cooking. She was aware of the importance of cross-contamination with regard to raw meats, fish, etc...
  19. Wow, I had never read this thread before until it just popped up. I struggled a lot with this issue this year, as I am Catholic. The Church has always maintained that anyone with gluten intolerance be permitted to drink the Precious Blood. There is no reason why a small, separate cup of wine cannot be consecrated along with the rest. I use the...
  20. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I just found out I'm pregnant too - only 5 weeks though. This is my 4th, and every single one I had terrible nausea and diarhea (I seldom purge) starting at about 8 weeks - so, it's only a matter of time for me. I just wanted to add a 'sniff' to the list: Lavendar. I used to smell lavendar whenever I...
  21. okaaay....I'll answer my own question: For some reason I can't copy the site addy but, basically, it is wood polimer. Hmmm...and they put it in grated cheese......interesting.....
  22. Thank you! I'll give them a try on Monday and post their reply. :)donna
  23. Ha ha - I can definately relate to that! My biggest concern when I went on this diet was - 'oh my gosh! what about my nightly popcorn?!'. I've been eating Act II with no problem (and I'm super-sensitive). Also, Jolly Time: Blast O Butter (regular & light), ButterLicious (regular & light), Healthy Pop, American's Best, Crispy N White...
  24. And hair can also get into the eyes. I have to constantly trim my daughter's bangs b/c of it. She also has a terrible habit of sucking her hair - yuck.
  25. I have a shredded parmesan cheese that has "microcrystalline cellulose" added to prevent clumping. Anyone know if it is glutenous or not? Thanks! -donna
