  1. Okay, I've heard someone here say that L'Oreal shampoo is okay. Today I bought Vive - Smooth-Intense Shampoo and Conditioner (seperate bottles) There is no contact info on the bottle - only a website with no way to contact them or FAQs. Is this stuff okay? The longer I've been on the diet, the more sensative I've become. Otherwise, I need some...
  2. C&H is a brand name? I've never heard of it. Domino is a popular brand here, but I don't know if they are gluten-free.
  3. Is plain, granulated white sugar gluten-free? I've a product listing that lists brands I've never heard of, as if some might have gluten. Is that right? Or should I just assume that they are all okay? This listing actually listed some gluten-free wines too, but I know all regular grape wines are ok.... ...wierd. just wanted to double check...
  4. OH YES! The pizza is EEEXXXCellent! If only I could get in nice and greasy like the pizza place does . Where do they put all that oil anyway? The crust first, or on top of everything? Sara, thanks for the tip. I'm not one to bake much though, but I've a feeling all of that is about to change soon. I doubt I'll be able to afford buying everything...
  5. Wow! So far this week I've tried Kinnikinnick Foods' white bread hamburger and hotdog buns and guess what?.... THEY ARE AWESOME!!! Just like regular bread and rolls! Tonight I'm trying the pizza crust. Haven't had a pizza a months! Yipeeeee!!! I'll let you know how the pizza is! -donna
  6. Oh yeah, dosage... To start with, you take a loading dose (2x the maintenance dose) for 7-10 days. Goes by weight too. It MUST be taken faithfully (every morning on an EMPTY stomach). If you miss just one day, you'll notice a difference and disrupt your progress b/c it is all-natural and will be completely out of your system within 24-36 hours (?)....
  7. Hi Carol, The only one I've tried is Market America. I know there are brand on-line, but this is a powder you mix with water (I can't swallow pills!) and it's absorbed 95% in 5 minutes. A friend of mine recommended them to me last year when I was REALLY sick and thank God, because I couldn't swallow my vitamins any more. I take all my supplements this...

    ARCHIVED Newbie

he he, I know EXACTLY what you mean! I've gotten lots of gluten-free foods online and in specialty stores and it's not just gluten-free, they make it diary-free, egg-free, cassein-free....it makes you wonder what IS in it!!! I'm with you. I like the good 'ol wonderbread type. I just found something that at least TASTES like it - but still a little dense...

Thanks Helen. My pastor is still looking into it with the bishop because there are 3 of us with celiac disease who could use these. I mentioned my concern that there still is SOME gluten in it to someone I know and she suggested that we use a small piece instead of the entire host each time. That would make it even less gluten!
  10. Hi! I'm familiar with the CSA's gluten-free Product Listing, but aren't there more general guidlines than this??? For example, they actually list some wines. Aren't they ALL gluten-free? What about some simple things like frozen veggies w/out butter or sauces. Canned veggies (w/out sauces or spices), etc. Thanks donna
  11. Hi again, OPCs (Oligomeric Polyanthocyanidins) are the worlds most potent antioxidants. They are found in extracts of red wine, grapeseed/grapeskins, and pine tree bark. They are 20 x more powerful than vitamin C and 40 x more powerful than vitamin E. They can help with up to 60 degenerative diseases. Great for inflammation, arthritis, a MIRACLE for...
  12. Sounds like a good idea! Thanks!

    ARCHIVED Fragile

Don't get yourself down - everyone has their days! I know I've had mine! This probably sounds wierd, but when I get down on myself about something, I find that if I do something for someone else, I fell better - maybe it's the shift from thinking about me to thinking about someone else? Not sure really, but I know it works for me. And if you...
  14. Thanks. Will try the Fructis or L'Oreal. As for symptoms with hair products and soaps - I've never had many symptoms to begin with. Mine come over time, and mostly neurological. A very high percentage of Celiacs have no noticable symptoms at all. I'd rather be cautious and avoid it all just in case, especially since I know I can't always tell...
  15. Thank you Terri! I was gettin sick of Toms - it smells! Good to know some more names. I agree about going all the way with gluten-free. I want it ALL out! BTW, what is MAC haircolor? Is it an abbreviation for something, or is that the name? I've never heard of it. Thanks! donna
  16. Sorry to hear that. I use aloe vera juice - though I'm willing to bet you don't have that hanging around. You can find it at a healthfood shop or vitamins shop (not very tasty though). I use the Market America brand which is strawberry-kiwi and very yummy and doesn't cost any more either. Also, I like to make some ginger tea. It really helps settle...
  17. What kind of makeup are you using? I heard Neutrogena was okay, but I saw a warning that it may contain trace amounts of gluten. I've been using a few of the products like, blush and powder, but I'm starting to break out again. I'm curious if there is gluten-free makeup in the stores. Like Carol, I have my own home-based business too and I usually use...
  18. Oooh! I just ordered some stuff from them. Everyone here tells me it's good stuff, but I'm still waiting for it. Can't wait... If it's as good as they say, I'll definately tell my grocer! Thanks! Donna

    ARCHIVED Outback

Thanks for the replies, I forgot about this post. What happened is that I had accidently eaten a non-gluten-free cookie. I bought it thinking it was gluten-free, but it was only "wheat-free". That explains it! Thank God, Outback was redeemed! I wouldn't have gone back, so I'm glad it WASN'T them!!! donna
  20. Would HVP have gluten in it? Neutrogena was listed as gluten-free on my product listing.... ...wait a minute! There was a statement made by the company that it may contain trace amounts and use with caution. I've probably gotten more sensative over time on the gluten-free diet too. That explains it! Guess I'll be using Toms? You say fructis...
  21. Good to know! Thanks!

    ARCHIVED Communion

Great, thanks Kathy. I'll keep you posted. My pastor is really hard to get a hold of and I still haven't heard back from him yet. I'll try again tommorow.... donna
  23. Hey, I just thought of something... Is anyone else here a Celiac with NO ONE else in their family ever having been??? We are looking back on both sides of the family and NEVER any digestive problems or cancers of ANY kind on either side. Wierd! Isn't Celiac genetic/hereditary??? How do you get it otherwise? donna
  24. Gee, lots of good ideas... bob's mighty tasty is very good but I put a little stevia in it and didn't like it so much - will try a dab of honey in it tommorow, though I wouldn' mind just trying salt and butter either. I've only tried sugar-free preserves once and didn't like the consistency. Funny you mentioned watering down the oj - I did...
  25. Doing the detective work makes me feel more in control of an 'out of control' situation (my intestinal pain). (3) Sterilizing the kitchen, by dumping contaminated contents of cannisters, cleaning the cannisters and replacing with safe stuff or even getting rid of 'unsafe foods', is another way I can 'take control' when pain makes me feel scared and out...
