  1. I had an attack 2 weeks or so ago that I thought was gallbladder. I had been getting terrible pain every time I ate and ended up in hospital with it, thinking my gallbladder was blocked, as my stools had suddenly turned pale and floaty and had then degenerated into liquid diarrhea. When the Ultrasound was done, there was nothing there. Zilch. The gallbladder...
  2. Just thinking outside the box. Could you try something different rather than try to replicate the croissants? What about making the chicken mix and thickening it with potato flour, then, as long as you are not allergic to corn and can find a wheat-free range, pop it into tacos instead. Make and fold large buckwheat pancakes around it? Might be a bit...
  3. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this and how effective it is. A good addition to blood tests and could it be as useful a tool as a biopsy but without the invasion?
  4. I have been suffering for 35 years (since I was 15) with vague symptoms (constant fatigue, IBS, etc.) that I now know must have been caused by gluten intolerance. I knew I was intolerant of Dairy and had tried losing that but was only partially successful. I had also tried losing the wheat but that didn't work either. For the last 6 months I have had...
  5. Potato chips might be ok in themselves, but it depends what has also been cooked in the oil. If it is guaranteed to only be for potato chips then you might be ok. There is always the possibility thought that the oil itself may have been contaminated with wheatgerm oil from some source. It is a minefield. Whilst dairy (either lactose, casein, or both...
  6. Don't eat the same things every day - it's the worst thing you can do. You should be rotating the foods you eat, having different things and only eating the same things several days or a week or more apart. The more varied the diet, the better we are for it. the reason why gluten/wheat becomes such a problem in the first place is that because it is in...
  7. My hair was falling out all over the place. I was fed up with that so decided to give myself a boost by taking some good multivits. I also wanted to boost my liver as poor liver function can affect hair, so I have been taking Milk Thistle capsules. Result. My hair has stopped falling out and looks a lot better too. I hope you manage to find something...
  8. Unfortunately things aren't always as easy as just leaving out gluten. Unfortunately many Celiacs are also intolerant of other things. Whilst stopping Gluten will undoubtedly help sometimes there are other triggers that have to be addressed. Most, if not all, have problems with Candida and Leaky gut. It means that you can develop allergic or intolerance...
  9. I have been reading about Leaky Gut syndrome and how it can be implicated in Celiac. Has anyone found that after some time has elapsed and their gut has had a chance to heal, they can then tolerate some Gluten and/or Dairy?
  10. If the diet doesn't seem to be working or only partially working, don't give up. It could just mean that there is/are additional triggers perhaps such as dairy, corn, onions, oranges, even things like perfume, make-up and toothpaste (chemicals). People who are coeliac or suffer with gluten intolerances will very often be affected by other foods or factors...
  11. Hi. I'm new to all this too, but I'll put my five penn'orth in for good measure! It is great that you are all seeing a benefit from changing to Gluten. I have just started today so am yet to see the benefit, but I am looking forward to that one. I was thinking though about your psoriasis that although you have benefitted from cutting out the Gluten...
  12. Thanks Lisa. I had the blood test this morning before I started the Gluten-free. We have trawled gently around the supermarkets this afternoon and I have come home with a selection of bits that hopefully will keep me going for a while. Although I just had 3 rice cakes and some hoummous for lunch it seemed to go through ok. I have just had some fresh...
  13. Momma Goose Can you tell me please how long it took for you to start feeling any benefit, particularly with the digestion? I have started Gluten-free today and am hoping I can get some relief shortly from this incessant stomach pain.
  14. Hi Welshgirl from another hailing from Wales. I am having very similar symptoms and have just been this morning to the doctor for a blood test. Because I feel so ill she has suggested I start the gluten-free diet immediately and we will see what benefit if any there is in a fortnight after the results come back. I am desperate to start the diet as...
  15. Sounds like your symptoms could be a mirror of mine. That's amazing. I never considered that the hernia could be controlled by gluten-free. I used to get a lot of GERD around 8 - 10 years ago which I was convinced was a hernia. I used to jump up and down in an attempt to make it go back down!!! Latterly I have had problems dispersing wind which...
  16. Thanks Momma Goose. I have been mooching around the site and some of what I experience does seem to fit but I wasn't sure about the sudden diarrhea. I am wondering now if I have the added complication of either an ulcer or a hiatus hernia, which would explain the gullet pain. Some years back I used to get acid reflux but that stopped after a while, but...
  17. I have suffered for years with IBS. Over the last few months I have been getting a very painful stomach around the gullet area and latterly worse when I eat. Suddenly last weekend I developed very pale stools which degenerated rapidly into watery diarrhea which I have had since and food is going straight through me. Gall-bladder has been checked and seems...
  18. I have 2 grandsons, I aged 6, the other 4. Whilst the 6 year old is fairly average for his age (although he does often seem to get tummy aches) and will eat almost anything, the 4 year old is a tinker. Since a baby he has been very picky with his food, often refusing to eat if he didn't like what was on offer. His stock food was sausages and baked beans...
  19. Yes, I too would add my voice to the possibility of PCOS. The symptoms you are describing sound fairly classic of the syndrome. Mind you, I am pretty sure that PCOS can also be helped by avoiding wheat and even gluten too although it is not the same as Celiac.
  20. I have friends with Chronic Fatigue. Some have stomach problems, some not. Can Chronic Fatigue on its own be a symptom of Celiac or would it always be accompanied by stomach problems?
  21. I'm working my way through all these posts picking up information and reading experiences etc. I have not yet been diagnosed as Celiac but judging by my symptoms would not be at all surprised at a positive diagnosis. As much as I would like to I can't go gluten-free until the blood test is done next week. Izzy, I was thinking about you saying that you...
  22. Candida is a nasty virulent little demon of a bug that once it gets a hold is very hard to control. I say control because you can't ever get rid of it. It is part of the intestinal 'flora' and as long as it is under control it is pretty harmless. Unfortunately it luuurrrves sugar and carbs. So much so that if allowed to get out of control it actually...
  23. That's interesting - I wonder if the Celiac doesn't actually pre-date the Diabetes in most or even all cases and ultimately contribute to it. Perhaps neither you nor I would be diabetic if the Celiac had been diagnosed and dealt with at a much earlier stage! Whilst Diabetes is on the increase, so is food intolerance. Food is so mucked about with and polluted...
  24. Although I think I may be Celiac, I was diagnosed as Diabetic 10 years ago. If my diagnosis of Celiac is right though, I actually think I may have been low-level Celiac all my life and the Diabetes has possibly developed as a result. The consensus seems to be that Diabetes is implicated in Celiac - yes, that may well be true - but which one comes first...
