For me I feel achy and cranky mostly. Sometimes some nausea or a headache. It can get pretty intense like a bad flu or athritic feeling sometimes. If you take it slow it isn't too bad. I have even managed to wait tables with a perky smile thru it.

My personal experience with nystatin is that its more of a bandaid than a solution if not done with the diet. I'm recovering from about 6 months of antibiotics (I had the candida under control before that) and tried to just do nystatin or sporonox without the diet and the candida kept coming back with a vengeance. Also most MDs only give you the antifungals...

ARCHIVED Enterolab
psipsina replied to silk's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I did an IgG panel from my Naturopath when I was originally trying to figure out what was wrong with me. The results were very accurate. After being off the foods for about 6 months I reintroduced them one by one to see if I was still having a reaction or if the higher IgG levels were due to leaky gut. Many of them were true allergies/intolerances. Some were... -
I'll add my love of the neti pot to others here. I use it daily and have had a drastic reduction in sinus related symptoms. I can literally see the pollen outside and I'm breathing fine . . . without the neti pot I'd be on claratin, nasonex and still on my way to a sinus infection. My husband who has struggled with snoring and sinus related problems his whole...

What do y'all think about maltitol on the candida diet?? I've admitted to myself that I can't go as low carb as I probably should be. For about 5 days I did nothing but meat and veggies and lemon/lime squeezed into water and I came really close to a mental breakdown at one point. I added in some brown rice cereal *unsweetened* and the idea was to have...

Its really weird but I like the candles that smell like baked goods. My husband thinks I'm torturing myself but most of your sense of taste is really smell anyways so it make sense that smelling stuff would be satisfying in some way. I'm addicted to yankee candle.

I've never found store bought gluten-free breadcrumbs that are friendly to a candida diet personally. Everyone uses yeast which you're not supposed to have while on the candida diet and many people who have candida problems will be sensitive for even once they get the candida under control. The best thing to do is get a mix and make it at home without the...

They are called "bubbie's pickles" and I get them in the refrigerated section of my wholefoods. They are soooooooo good.

I put a bit into a veggie sautee this evening (probably about 1/4 teaspoon) and had some die off symptoms (I also had some raw garlic and oregano oil with dinner) but no where near as bad as what happened with my mega dose yesterday so I definitely think it was die off and not an allergy. I also picked up some bach rescue remedy to help with some of the emotional...

Voted! I was soo dissapointed the other day when they said she was going to do "allergy free cupcakes" on her show and they were egg, dairy and nut free but chock full of gluten! I watched the whole show in anticipation of that

Lol I had no idea what I was doing to myself!! I read somewhere that two tablespoons a day was the serving size as a supplement for coconut oil. I have been taking Natren's trinity probiotic everyday but only once . . . it says to take it without any other supplements/drugs within a few hours and with foods so I do it at breakfast and then with dinner and...

There is a support thread for the candida diet in the "other intolerances" part of this website that has tons and tons of info. It can be very frustrating to face even more restrictions but it is sooooooo worth it when you finally get those buggers under control.

OMG I think I used WAAAYYY too much for my first day! For breakfast I had a think thin bar with some coconut in it . . . then I put a teaspoon full in my tomato soup for lunch and then I used about a tablespoon to cook a shrimp and veggie stir fry that I used coconut milk in the sauce!!!! No wonder I was curled up in a ball wanting to pull off my own skin...

ARCHIVED Psoriatic Arthritis Anyone?
psipsina replied to rock on's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know that you said that your Husband is a bit skeptical about the candida-PA link so when I stumbled upon this today I thought of you. I found a scientific journal article that linked candida to autoimmune arthritis. It probably wouldn't be an interesting read with no science background but I thought maybe the existence of the article would help you make... -
I had a bad day yesterday. I tried cooking with coconut oil which is naturally antifungal and had a really really bad reaction. It felt alot like an allergic reaction but it might have just been really really bad die off. I was miserable and nauseous though and with the die off I've just been achy all over. I'm going to try it again in a few days and see...

The thing that stops my lips from peeling is a lip gloss from philosophy called "kiss me" . . . they also make a lip exfoliant that I use. Its the only one that ever helped my peeling issue. The cracks on the side of my mouth are even better today so I think its definitely candida related.

ARCHIVED Family Members And Testing
psipsina replied to lilypad23's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm in a unique situation because I am a medical student so friends and family actually come to me for medical advice alot. I never push it but if I think they have possible symptoms I always mention it and offer to elaborate more if they are interested. One of my best friends tried to do my candida diet with me for moral support two years ago and couldn... -
I've had crazy problems with my lips cracking in the corners. I got one side healed up and the other one is tons better after a week and a half on antifungals and a candida diet. Something that helps me is to keep the area moisturized as they are healing so I don't re-crack them everytime I yawn or eat or brush my teeth. I've been using blistex because it...

I haven't been tested for celiac but I definitely have gluten intolerance with some assorted other intolerances and I had a systemic overgrowth of candida. I was never diagnosed by a MD. A friend gave me a book about food allergies and I realizes that all sort of what I thought were seperate issues could be traced back to food allergies. I went to see a naturopathic...

ARCHIVED Psoriatic Arthritis Anyone?
psipsina replied to rock on's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There are some good threads about the candida diet and supplements here in the other food intolerances forum. Also these are some great online resources: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link The first time I did it with a naturopathic doctor who also did an IgG blood test for other food allergens. I am actually doing the diet again on... -
Yeah he was special and not in a good way. I think he was more frank with me about his opinions because I am a part of the medical fraternity. He basically was of the opinion that I was to smart for all this "quackery". He obviously has a very condescending viewpoint of alternative healing modalities and felt very threatened that I saw a naturopathic doctor...

Ginger is naturally anti-nausea. I keep ginger root to cook with or to make tea with. I have a tea ball I use but you can just strain out the chunks with a spoon if you don't have one when its done brewing. It works on the same principal as ginger ale but without all the sugar to feed the natsies in your GI tract. I hope you feel better soon!

ARCHIVED Psoriatic Arthritis Anyone?
psipsina replied to rock on's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi! I know this thread is a bit old but I wanted to chime in with my experience. I was dx'd with psoriatic arthritis two years ago. All of a sudden my hands swelled up and became very painful. My labs came back with an elevated C reactive protein (a sign of inflammation) so my primary care doc sent me to a rheumatologist. She dx'd me with PA after I tested... -
Primary care doc freaking out because I ditched the rheumatologist he referred to explains to me that food intolerances and systemic candida infections are made up by doctors so they can write books to offset the losses they face with lower reimbursements due to the current situation with insurance companies. He tells me that there is no way that my dietary...
