I am not sure this statement is correct: "By the way, Salicylic Acid is vitamin B11." Salicylic acid is not the same as vitamin B11. They are different compounds with distinct chemical structures and functions in the body. Salicylic acid is a type of organic acid and a plant hormone. It is often used in skincare products for its ability to exfoliate...

Confusion about testing
Scott Adams replied to SammyProd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It looks like all of your celiac disease blood tests are negative, and you are not IgA deficient: Total igA: 0.94 g/L. (0.40-3.50). Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS. -
PAXLOVID
Scott Adams replied to kels35's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication. It will correctly list all ingredients in the "Inactive Ingredients" which might contain gluten. For a drug like Paxlovid there would not be any gluten ingredients in the... -
Confusion about testing
Scott Adams replied to SammyProd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests... -

Around 9% of people with celiac disease also have an intolerance to oats, even the gluten-free variety, so this may be the case for you. In general if you see "gluten-free" on a label in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, etc., it does mean that the food is safe for those with celiac disease, and it does not mean that there is 19ppm gluten, as some...

The swollen tongue and and face sound more like a food allergy. Perhaps you should try an elimination diet and keep a food diary to see if you can identify the culprit? Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this...

Weak Positive/Negative
Scott Adams replied to Hallowbean's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would still view ISSUE TRANSGLUTAMINASE ANTIBODY, IGA at 3 as another weak positive if the scale is positive is over 3. Normal people would not score a 3, and that combined with a positive DGP tells me that you are definitely having an issue with gluten. Were you eating at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily before the blood tests? You should have... -
Is a daily aspirin safe to take?
Scott Adams replied to B.J.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
BTW, I recommend that you always take the aspirin after you eat, and would do it after dinner. My reasoning for taking it after dinner is due to statistics which show that heart attacks most often occur in the morning. Blood tends to be stickier in the morning, which may increase the likelihood of clot formation in the arteries, a common cause of heart attacks... -
Is a daily aspirin safe to take?
Scott Adams replied to B.J.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I suppose if your celiac disease were recently diagnosed, and you might already have issues with intestinal bleeding due to it, your doctor might want you to hold off until that was under full control. I'm not aware of any incompatibility with taking aspirin or other NSAID and celiac disease, especially if it's been recommended by your cardiologist, but it... -

Cigarette Smoke in Small Apartment
Scott Adams replied to StrongerThanCeliac's topic in Super Sensitive People
I believe that cigarette makers don't need to disclose their ingredients, so it would be tough to know for sure if any contain gluten. I believe American Spirit has in the past advertised its products as "natural, organic and additive-free," but obviously I don't know for sure if there could be any gluten in them, for example in the filter or paper wrapper... -
Is a daily aspirin safe to take?
Scott Adams replied to B.J.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Are you concerned that it might not be gluten-free? I also take a low dose aspirin for similar reasons and get the Bayer brand via Costco. This article may be helpful: -

Chocolate Chips for baking

I've not heard of the brand but they say "No allergen" on their site, but are not labelled gluten-free. I assume you are here because you have celiac disease and your concern is gluten, is that correct? -

Scott Adams replied to PhoMu's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In Europe doctors may diagnose you with celiac disease if your results are 10x the level for celiac disease or higher on a anti - tTG IgA test, without doing a biopsy, but you should ask your doctor about this. -
