  1. Yes, we are well aware that MSG may cause some people to have various health issues, but for most it isn't an issue. On this forum we're focused mostly on whether or not it would be a source of gluten and unsafe for those who have celiac disease or are gluten sensitive.
  2. I had many other pollen and food allergies at the time of my diagnosis, and spent roughly the first 25 years of my life with terrible nasal congestion. This issue went away within a few months of going gluten-free. I suspect that my immune system was overwhelmed by dealing with eating gluten, and after I quit eating it things changed, and my nasal issues...
  3. Excellent story, and suggestions--thank you for sharing!
  4. There are many reports on this forum of dermatologists not doing the skin biopsy correctly, possibly even more often than gastroenterologists make errors that can lead to false negative results.
  5. Yeast extract may contain trace amounts of gluten, but the end result in this product is likely below 20ppm. I say this because aa Australian product called Marmite (Vegemite is another version), is 100% pure yeast extract, and it has been tested and found to contain ~30ppm. Given the amount of it used in these nuts as flavoring, you can imagine that the...
  6. This is very interesting, and I hadn't heard of this exercise-induced condition before.
  7. Be sure your diet is 100% gluten-free. This is the very first step to recovery. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.): I think it would make sense for you to take a good multivitamin/mineral supplement, and in the USA we have a brand called...
  8. You might be a Celiac if you're afraid to use a baguette as a dangerous weapon in a food fight!
  9. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had specific regulations in place regarding the labeling of allergenic ingredients in packaged foods, including those derived from wheat. Under the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA), major food allergens must be clearly labeled on packaged foods. Wheat is one of the eight major food allergens...
  10. Thank you for sharing, I found this web site: https://ibis.accor.com/gb/continent/hotels-europe-c03.shtml I hope all goes well with your surgery!! Bring some gluten-free food with you just in case!
  11. I eat regularly at a Nepalese restaurant and most of the foods are naturally gluten-free, but there are definitely exceptions. This might be helpful: | English | ----------------------- I have celiac disease, a medical condition that requires a strict gluten-free diet. Even a tiny amount of gluten can make me very ill. I kindly request...
  12. May I ask you why you feel the need to prove them wrong and go down this path? If your reactions are so severe, and if the think that wheat allergy could be part of your issue, it seems strange to me that a doctor would ask you to eat gluten. IgE allergy testing can be done on you to diagnose a wheat allergy, and you don't have to consume any gluten for such...
  13. I still go to Starbucks, but I get plain black coffee. Some items could be risky, but for their canned/bottled items this may be helpful:
  14. In the USA made from corn, and if it were made from wheat this would have to be disclosed on the ingredient label. It's highly doubtful Katz would use an ingredient made from wheat, but the possibility of them having a batch of donuts that somehow went above 20ppm due to some ingredient contamination issue is certainly a possibility. If I were you I'd hold...
  15. I'm sorry to hear about your blood sugar issues. Do you have similar issues blood sugar issues if you eat a gluten-free bread with a similar carbohydrate ratio? I am just curious if the extra problems with your blood sugar could be related to gluten itself.
  16. It's difficult to read the ingredients there, but the ones I could read did not look like they would have gluten in them. There are some unknown chemicals there that may have caused your reaction, and the product is made in China. This article, and the comments below it, may be helpful:
  17. Celiac.com 10/05/2023 - Celiac disease, a condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide, is a well-known autoimmune disorder with far-reaching implications for those who have it. It's characterized by a unique response to gluten...
  18. In general gluten in shampoo won't be an issue for the vast majority of those with celiac disease, but may be an issue for those who are super sensitive, or those who have dermatitis herpetiformis. Going forward, after the kind you are using is finished, you may want to consider getting a gluten-free version, as there are many out there.
  19. Everyone who suspects they have DH should definitely get a skin biopsy via a dermatologist, and hopefully they do it correctly (biopsy is taken directly next to blister, not on the blister itself). Everyone should also get a celiac disease blood panel done as well, and to do this you would need to continue to eat gluten daily for 6-8 weeks before the...
  20. You may be able to get by with One A Day brand supplements, which include nearly all you might need. They are also gluten-free.
  21. I only wonder if the weight training was the actual cause of the nerve pain issues, or just something that exacerbated the symptoms? It seems like something must be irritating your nerves, and it seems strange that lifting weights would be the ultimate cause. I initially had an intolerance to chicken eggs, but could tolerate duck eggs without issues...
  22. I use GliadinX whenever I dine out, and others on this forum do as well (disclosure--they are a sponsor here). Many studies have shown that the enzymes in GliadinX which are AN-PEP can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches your intestines: https://www.gliadinx.com/publications
