  1. applesauce is ok but stay away from regular whole apples, the raw apples and the skin will make diarrhea worse, but once cooked it changes.
  2. First off, get an allergy test (blood) to take him off all allergic foods. We had my son on meds (ritalin and adderall) until his seizure then we took him off and had the hardest time with no meds!! We had a suggestion for allergy testing and he's allergic to dairy, gluten, peanuts, beef... He doesn't need meds anymore. We have to do a behavior chart...
  3. you can make your own milk out of nuts if he can tolerate that. put in some gluten-free vanilla or anything that will flavor like fruit. options to buy at the store are soy milk, rice milk, hemp milk, almond milk. prices are between $1.00 and $3.00 for a quart. if you make at home you can do rice, almond, cashew... pretty much any nut.
  4. It could be the eggs. for butter, we make ghee. you cook the (real) butter and skim off the dairy protiens and let it reharden. also if she wants peanut butter, maybe subs almond butter. you can make your own nut milk in a blender. Have you done any allergy testing?? if you do blood testing you won't have to put her back on any foods. avoid...
  5. Thank you!!! My boys go through cereal like nothing. Plus I like Chex! They are using molasses instead of barley malt.
  6. My kids are fine with the rice cakes (the non dairy ones) And my son got into dairy which he's allergic and he got the rash yesterday which he hasn't had in a while either.
  7. I use 1/4 cup buckwheat in my bread and we like how it tastes.
  8. Thank you so much!! I am sensitive to an enzime in tomatoes and now finding out we are allergic to garlic we have to make everything from scratch. This helps me a bunch.
  9. Have you considered getting a blood allergy test?? Just to know that they are allergic or sensitive was good enough for me.
  10. I wonder if the stress is making you feel like you've got the brain fog. as for tests we had a strick food one that had dairy, nuts, all grains plus gluten and gladin, eggs, fruits and veggies, soy, etc thay were tested for alot of foods!! It sounds like your dr. isn't being real cooperative. Talk to him and see if you can get the situation better...
  11. Speaking from experience, our son has ADHD & ODD. We tried several meds and he was on them for about a year. We had to take him off due to a seizure, (not sure what caused it) then we found out (tested for allergies and did EEG &MRI) that he is allergic to dairy, gluten, and many other foods. After changing his diet, we feel that he doesn't need...

  13. When my son visits his grandma she gives him what she persieves what is safe and my son comes home with stomach aches and red ears. I try to talk to her but she won't take responsibility for feeding him foods that he's allergic to. she doesn't think that wheat is in certain foods and you can't tell her otherwise. she is not my mom or my mother-in...
  14. My son used to get red ears all the time. Allergy tested and found out he has a lot of food allergies. Allergy testing is a good idea, if you are neg for celiac you can still be allergic or intolerant. Good luck. We took my son off of all his allergens, including gluten and dairy and they haven't been red except for the 2 times he was glutened by...
  15. I made one loaf of very good bread and the rest are very doughy inside. I am thinking it is this way becasue it isn't rising enough. I am having more difficulty getting the recipie right because I am using flax instead of eggs. It's worth it to keep on trying. most store bought gluten-free bread is very small and very dry. This is what I am using, I...
  16. I use the flax with my homemade breads and it tastes great!
  17. Get a doctors note to give to the school. Talk to the principal, nurse, teacher, all at once in a conference. Educate them. If they don't know then they are not much help. Stay calm, but assertive. Mistakes will be made at first. Ask for a 504 plan. Then you will have all the "special exceptions" documented. Examples are: special bathroom usage...
  18. pamela's mix is very good. they have that at fred meyers or heath food store. if you're going to bake from scratch there is a very good bread recipie with flax.
  19. We saw the liquid calcium at Fred Meyers they also have the probiotics (in the refridgerated section) which will help but the good bacteria in her. Very important! My husband says that 3 consistent weeks of the same feeding (change of no dairy, setting meals out letting her eat on her own terms but the food you provide) and she will be adjusted mentally...
  20. I agree with the other posts that her body is craving the foods she is alergic to. We are going through the same thing. It will get better over time but you can't give in. they have liquid calcium that you can put in a smoothie or drink that is real easy so you don't have to give a pill. Also give her probiotics, that will help her intestines.
  21. When we bought the gluten-free oats it came with a card. You have to start out slow!! If they aren't used to the oats they can have different bm's, stomache, etc. It says for the first week 1/4 cup dry x2 a week or 1 sm bowl oatmeal or 2 cookies.

    ARCHIVED Naturopath/homeopath

I have an ND and I love her!! She also is a midwife (delivered 2 of my babies at home!) She is very respectful and will prescribe meds/ antibiotics but will offer other alternatives. Ultimately it is my decision on which route I'd like to take. Fully supports Allergy testing. Both my boys are GI. Found out by Allergy testing. Oldest son had reaction...
  23. Sounds just like me. My hormone levels are off, allergy tests haven't come back yet, but what my dr did (she's a naturepath) was put me on magnesium to help me go to the bathroom regularly. I had to take stool softener so I didn't get all crampy at first, but speaking from experience, it's real hard on your body keeping in those toxins for a week. I...
  24. my son just had a mri begining of march. After contrast he said he didn't feel good either. Was nauseated. Heard that GI/Celiacs sometimes are sensitive to Iodine which is the contrast.
  25. There is liquid calcium you can add to anything, and gluten-free, dairy free protein powder either soy or hemp. Multiple vitamin.
