  1. Well I did end up giving up dairy but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. [ And I am a cheese freak---not to mention ice-cream!] I actually like "rice- cream" . And it is helping. I've never been to Hawaii, so can't help you much there. But I would imagine it would be a great opportunity to try out some new exotic fresh fruits and vegetables. I...
  2. Since you brought back this old thread, I'll put my two cents in . The Enjoy Life with cinnamon really bothered my stomach. I burped the cinnamon all day . No other cinnamon bothers me.
  3. How much magnesium and B12 do you take?
  4. Another thought....rice turns to sugar a lot faster than wheat. I don't know if that can have any effect on your joints, but I am making sure I don't replace wheat with a lot of rice products simply b/c it can't be good for my need to lose weight.
  5. I can only speak for myself, but my fibromyalgia does a lot better on a high protein, low carb diet. It seems you got worse when you took away more of what little protein you do get. I take it you can't eat meat? Or is it a personal choice?
  6. I totally agree hightop girl! I have been overweight for a long time. Before I knew what was wrong with me, if my stomach hurt, I would eat something else, hoping it would calm my stomach [usually ice cream]. After I realized my gluten intolerance, I couldn't do it all at once--- I did it in stages. Now that I am gluten-free [and dairy free BTW ] I am ready...
  7. Guess I didn't do it right. Well, you get the picture
  8. for jaw pain have ya'll checked out TMJ? You would need a full bite guard to see if it makes the pain go away. I would go to a good dentist & get that checked out - it can also cause headaches... I still wear my bite guard - I am 61 & had to have braces & TMJ work done when I was 40. (such a youngster,hehehe...) I hope I did this quote...
  9. I would be hesitant to pick up those bags of flour, let alone bring them into my house. they're probably covered in non gluten-free flour. I've gotten glutened just walking past regular flour. [They must have just stocked the shelves--- I could even smell the flour in the air.]
  10. I found a possibility. It could be either an infection or Sjogren's. It's not likely to be a blockage or tumor, as I have it on both sides. I get sore throats often, and just recently got over one. I also have dry eyes and my throat occassionally "seizes up" on me because it suddenly dries out. I had thought about being tested for Sjogren's, but was going...
  11. Mine doesn't feel like it's throbbing. It aches, but there's also a.....I guess I would say a sharp pain, but that's not really a good description either. The more I think about it [your post has got me paying more attention than usual], it seems when it's acting up, like it is now, I have an excess of saliva on both sides of my tongue. Hmmm,.... I think...
  12. I also have that "weird pain' under the chin[ actually it's on both sides under the jaw]. Is that what you mean? It really is a difficult sensation to explain. The doc felt around but said my lymph glands were fine. This is the first time I've seen anyone else mention this. I've been gluten-free since Jan. and still have the problem. Does anyone out there...
  13. I am so psyched I just had to share! I went to my nearby Marsh grocery to pick up a couple items. They have been remodeling and rearranging. In front of the registers were bins of groceries that I assume they were no longer going to stock, all 50%off---nothing was even close to expiration. Imagine my surprise to find potato starch, coconut milk, and all...
  14. I have never heard of habbas syndrome, but when green bile was mentioned, I wondered about gallbladder disease. My first symptoms w/ my gallbladder was throwing up green bile
  15. Awesome !!! Although I have JUST realized that I have to kick the dairy [like, yesterday...so haven't searched out alternatives yet] But no worries, because Chex Mix dry is great when you have a craving for something just to munch on!
  16. Oops! I don't think I was very clear! My "down there" is my tush . And yes, legally the school would have to accomodate me. I don't get vacation time because we already get all the breaks [fall, Christmas, spring and summer]. while I attend to my hearing -impaired kids, I also oversee many learning-disabled and emotionally disabled that are in the sme classes...
  17. I go to a chiropractor once a week, sometimes twice when it's really bad. My only relief is from something new they have called keseo (sp) tape. IT helps immensely! It looks like that stretchy tan medical tape. It's supposed to improve lymphatic flow in the muscles. My skin doesn't tolerate it as well as it used to [itchy and blistery] so I can only keep...
  18. Have you had your gallbladder checked?
  19. Great to hear from so many, especially the newbies like me! I find myself wanting to respond to everyone, but I must resist I think I may have to start a food diary, like Rachel said. I also need to keep a when and where pain diary, because I think my job may be making me sick [see my response to Lisa16] Thanks all! Lisa
  20. My "one still at home" is a daughter also, but don't know yet when she will be leaving. I'm in no hurry She's been thru a lot lately--- anxiety disorder, stomach problems, narcolepsy. It's been better on MY nerves to be able to keep an eye on her. I inadvertently commented on neck pain and headaches in my response to Lisa16. I was thinking of your message...
  21. I've been gluten-free about 2 months, but I was gluten lite for about a year.[ Once I figured out what it meant to be gluten free, it seemed so overwhelming to me that I did it in "steps", working my way up to total gluten-free] So I was seeing some improvement back then. I have fibromyalgia and for some time now have had a lot of pain in my upper back and...
  22. My family dr recommended a rheumatologist when the meds he had me on for fibromyalgia just wasn't working well enough for me. It took 3 months before I could see him. They sent me the pages and pages of paperwork to fill out. When I got there they had no record of my app't, but they couldn't deny it because I had the paperwork they had sent. I had the choice...
  23. Well I'm hoping that won't be the case . We'll see. I'm still experimenting with the dairy. Thanks for the advice .BTW, I was born in Ontario---Sioux Lookout. But only because my dad was in the Air Force.
  24. Thanks, all! It's like having my very own Welcome Wagon Does anyone remember them?
