ARCHIVED Ignorant Grocery Cashier
curlyfries replied to Kimbalou's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What is it with the potato bread? I also knew someone who had a diagnosed celiac daughter and she fed her potato bread and pizza with the crust made with semolina. She also thought that she herself might have a problem with gluten while every day I saw her eating cron dogs, pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches from the school cafeteria. And she was a teacher... -
ARCHIVED For The Older Ladies W/o Gold Seal Dx
curlyfries replied to AVR1962's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well, like the other posters have mentioned, you could have both. I just don't understand why doctors would ignore test results and positive dietary response. If they had said, "Ok, you have celiac, but I also think you are menopausal", that would be different. Looks like you've got it together and realize that gluten free is the way to go for you no... -
ARCHIVED For The Older Ladies W/o Gold Seal Dx
curlyfries replied to AVR1962's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow.....looks like most of the women (and men) here must be going through menopause! Let's just take everything a woman could possibly complain about and call it menopause. And you've had no changes in your cycle? What kind of test did you have? If you had a positive blood test then you're celiac. Add to that the fact that you have improved... -
ARCHIVED Things People Say To Celiacs
curlyfries replied to researchmomma's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just had an interesting conversation at lunch today. It's not unusual for people who know me to ask, "So what is that you're eating?" A friend asked and I told her and she said, "I thought you couldn't eat meat." So maybe she heard something incorrectly in the past. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I am also totally... -

ARCHIVED Packaged Nuts And Frozen Fruits/veggies
curlyfries replied to ElizFost's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most of the foods I eat are not specifically labeled gluten free. Frozen fruits and vegetables are naturally gluten free. The only exception might be those with added sauces. Nuts are also naturally gluten-free but as you have noticed, some have an issue with cc. If there is that possibility, it will be stated as such. I have had no problems with Planters... -

Mostly just the impending part. Too many nuts on the roads.....and I have developed a fear of psycho drivers. Also not a fan of crowds. Fees for parking are insane. Gian-knit.....if you're itching to do a zipline, my inlaws have one in their backyard....no waiting. And it's free. AND.....they probably live about 5 minutes from you! ... -

Ditto on the frozen bread ordeal. I actually had to get stitches in my thumb one Thanksgiving from trying to separate the slices. All I wanted was to make some breadcrumbs! -

Only one page? -
Do you feel that you are bored with the foods you are eating currently? I know I am, so I've been googling to find more variety to my already restrictive diet. Or do you think these binges are more of an illogical, uncontrollable urge? You may have to remove these gluteny foods from your house to reduce the temptation. I know, you could still go out...

ARCHIVED People Who Don't Want To Understand
curlyfries replied to tennisman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What was it that prompted the one person to tell you that you know nothing about celiac disease? Some of the statements make me wonder about the level of education of those people. I hope you set them straight. There are so many responses going on in my head right now.....just let me at 'em! -
Google too? Well that's a whole different matter! A bunch of teachers may have to change their lesson plans if all the search engines join in.

ARCHIVED Freezing Single Batches Of Leftover Soups
curlyfries replied to researchmomma's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I bring soup to work in small glass bowls that have lids, so I will freeze in those. If I want to freeze a lot, I line the bowls with foil or plastic, add soup and freeze, then remove foil or plastic. Then I can keep them all in a large plastic bag or vacuum seal in a bag. That way I can pop one in a bowl whenever I want and take it to work. -
Pssshhh!!! Umm...OK. Think anyone will notice? Schools do not allow kids to use it, anyway.

Forgot to mention the black widows when we lived in Tucson. Had to check your shoes before putting them on and be careful when reaching into the mailbox. Hubby once found a nest of them under our bed.

My DD is 26 and married and still sleeps with her blankie The thing I hate most about spiders is that they can be hanging from the ceiling and be at eye level Jumping spiders???? No way....can't do it! Centipedes creep me out big time....all those legs!!!And they can get big! No crunch factor considered here because we usually catch and release...
