  1. On another topic, I am still starving half the day, and this morning doubled my usual meat serving at breakfast. It made a big difference, but I still wonder: how much meat do you guys eat? My meat/eggs total is around a pound a day--seems like a lot, is it? I wish I had a side of beef cut and wrapped in the freezer--do others feel this way? I weigh a few...
  2. Hi chatycady and Lovey25, That's great chaty that you've joined your local celiac group and you're thinking about demonstrating making the yogurt! The closest celiac support group near me is about an hour away but one of the nurses at my Dr.'s office is celiac and is looking into starting one here. Lovey25 - I've always been interested in nutrition...
  3. Hi Gentleheart, I've been using Crest regular or mint flouride protection along with baking soda (i just pour a little baking soda in my hand and wet it with a little water to make a paste and dip my toothbrush in it). I probably should just use the baking soda but when i use the Crest i'm just careful not to swallow any of it and rinse my mouth out really...
  4. You're very welcome Gentleheart! I'll post a few more that i've tried that were eggless. I had quit making any of the brownies or cookies because i wasn't tolerating any nuts - i've tried almond, walnut, pecan and coconut and wasn't ready yet but when i tried coconut my symptoms were a little less so i hope i'll one day get to eat them again. Ali posted...
  5. Spinach Crackers recipe I used sun butter instead of almond flour and used olive oil for the oil. I omitted the garlic since i haven't introduced it yet since starting scd and couldn't tolerate it before scd. Hopefully i'll be able to eat garlic again. These were very tasty and easy! They were a little hard to spread out without sticking to my fingers...
  6. Hi everyone, I've been trying to catch up on the posts - i haven't been able to get on much lately. Just an update - I had tried coconut flour a while back but I don't think my system is ready for it yet. I did find some organic raw sunflower seeds though and soaked them for about 8 hours (dissolved sea salt in warm water) and then dehydrated them for...
  7. I made this "cauliflower popcorn" recipe last weekend for a snack and it was very good - it hit the spot while watching a movie. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Well, unfortunately i did react to the beets and apple cider vinegar but the good news is my symptoms seem to be milder than they used to be. I had a little pain and gas before bed and felt a little bloated but not as bad as i have felt about a month ago when reacting to foods and the symptoms don't seem to last as long. So i was bummed because they were...
  9. Ok i will, thanks Sherry. They sound wonderful! How neat that you could buy those at your Dr's office. I think I may try either the SCD ketchup or tomato sauce this weekend. I made the carrot cake tonight on page 127 of "Breaking the Vicious Cycle". I used coconut flour instead of almond flour and used 6 Tablespoons of melted gelatin for the 2 eggs,...
  10. Hi and welcome mslee, I've only been on SCD for 3 months but before starting it i had been gluten free for about 8 months and started having joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, etc. again. I felt good initially on the gluten free diet but never felt as good as i do on the SCD. The recipes, especially the introduction foods, are not complicated to make - they...
  11. Hi and welcome GFLady, I was like you and had already cut out some things that i figured out bothered me and then had read a few posts about the SCD on here and started reading up on it and got the book from the library and thought I'd give it a try. I'm one of those that is having to take it really slow in adding SCD legal foods but i felt so much better...
  12. Hi Rinne, Here's the nomato or untomato sauce recipe i found and want to try. It calls for sugar but i figure i'll just add a little honey or no honey and leave out the garlic powder - i would add a little fresh garlic if i tolerated it but unfortunately i don't yet. The only spices i'm using right now is sea salt and fresh black pepper but i may be ok...
  13. Hi Sherry, i haven't tried tomatos yet since being on SCD but will soon. I think I do ok with seeds - the only thing i've been eating w/seeds is green beans and i have been de-seeding them but tried some with seeds a few times about a week or so ago and they seemed to be ok. I'll let you know how i do once i try the tomatos - your crackers sound yummy....
  14. This sounds good Rinne, i might have to try it. I haven't tried beets or apple cider vinegar yet but maybe i'll be able to tolerate them. I have a nomato sauce recipe i found using carrots and beets that i want to try soon...i think i'll try the beets before trying tomatos. I haven't tried any new foods in about 2-3 weeks so i'm very eager to try some...
  15. Thanks Sherry. I hope you have good luck with another variety. I get a little joint pain also with squash and some fatigue as well. And this is kind of weird but may be arthritis pain but i also get a pain in my left big toe. When i was very young i sprained one of my big toes and can't remember which one but i'm thinking it was the left one. Maybe...
  16. Does anyone have problems with squash? I had some butternut squash yesterday (decided to try it again after about 2 mths) and my stomach and back was sore this morning and a couple of hours after eating it had a little gas and pain but not as much as when i ate it before, so maybe things are improving. I also tried a little bit of farm fresh eggs again...
  17. Hi everyone, Hope you're all doing well. I just wanted to pop in and wish you guys a Merry Christmas! I've been MIA too with work and getting ready for the holidays. We're leaving tomorrow for Florida to visit hubby's Mom and Dad. It's a long ride but we're looking forward to the visit. We had my family over today and boy am I exhausted. It was a...
  18. Thanks Ali! I'm glad your new probiotic regime is helping....i get the sore back with my sore stomach too so i'll have to remember to try that the next time they're bothering me. Thanks for sharing and hope it continues to help you!
  19. Just wanted to share that I went to a wine/beverage shop yesterday looking for a very dry wine so that i could have a small glass tonight and the owner was a wonderful man who gave me a quick lesson on what to look for to get the dryest wines. He said that cabernet sauvignon is usually the dryest in red and chardonnay is the dryest in white wines and the...
  20. Hi Jsn7821! I don't know of any baked kale recipes but would love to have one. I used to juice kale with carrot before scd and once i'm eating more raw (only eating a small salad right now occasionally) i'd like to juice again. Yes, i ate vicariously through everyone else today and i think i smelled just about everything.
  21. Welcome Rinne! Glad the SCD is working for you. It's so nice to feel better isn't it?! It's a little tough in the very beginning but so worth it to stick with it. I felt like i lived in the kitchen and still do sometimes but it's getting lots better.
  22. Too bad we can't all share our dishes! Yours and Dawn's pumpkin and squash dishes sound wonderful! The butternut/apple/cranberry bake turned out good - everyone liked it and there was only a little left. Once i can tolerate nuts i'll add some to it...maybe some walnuts or pecans. Ali - it was a lot like a dessert and that's exactly what i ate for my dessert...
  23. Happy Belated Birthday Shay and Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I cooked 2 rock cornish game hens in the crockpot last night so i'll bring some of that with me to my Aunt and Uncle's house. They look really good - it's my first time cooking these. I'm also bringing some roasted potatos that my husband likes and i'm making the below recipe (substituting honey...
