  1. Get strict with the diet. And it wouldnt hurt to get a complete Thyroid panel (TSH, Free T4, Free T3 and both antibodies). Make sure they test FREEs.
  2. Getting an official dx is your decision. Some believe it is better NOT to get the dx so there re never any insurance issues later on in life. Yet, in Europe getting that dx is very important because their government pays for your gluten-free food. Wish we had that here...... Anyway. If you are the type who will "cheat" often because you always have...
  3. I concur....get all of the testing done as soon as you can. Then start the diet and see if it helps you. There really is nothing to lose.
  4. It was me. I used a different brand and do not know if that would make a difference. I wouldnt think so. Note....I would start out slowly. One pill on day one. 2 on day two and so on. There was a little war raging inside for a few days with me. Bloating was a tiny bit worse for about a week and then it went away. It is an anti-microbial...
  5. I think strictness might be dictated by symptoms. If you have IBS, then it behooves you to be very strict. I dont. I just thought the diet made some sense to me, so I am trying it with a few modifications. ONe thing I have noticed is stable blood sugar.
  6. I say you can eat at "better" restaurants and be extra careful. I do take Glutenease.....dont shoot me people. I only eat out about once a month. I keep a bottle in my purse just in case.
  7. It wasnt THAT BAD for me either. I have been eating healthy whole foods for years (15 or so). I just dropped the wheat/barley/rye. The later two I rarely ate. I love eating out. But I also love to cook. I think the hardest thing for a lot of people are the ones who are very sensitive to CC and those of us who have MULTIPLE sensitivities. ...
  8. So you were trying this just to see if you have a reaction so you will know when you are glutened. I know you have not been at it very long. Many say that over time their reactions to CC get stronger. So hang in there.....might get a strong reaction out of you yet. Now that you have experimented, I HOPE you will stop eating the gluten and poisoning...
  9. Did you test positive with blood and biopsy Beth? Or are you self-diagnosed?
  10. Violet....I make delicious fries out of sweet potatoes....yummy!! Cut like fries, sprinkle with sea salt and pepper....drizzle with olive oil and bake at 350 until starting to turn brown.
  11. A LOT of things these days are "fortified" with folic acid. Cereals, breads, sports drinks, nutrition bars, etc. Open Original Shared Link
  12. I dont think it is a stretch if he eats gluten and then you kiss him. New relationships often involve A LOT of kissing. He could also be using toiletries with oats/gluten that you lick off.....not trying to be crude.....but if it is done right......this could happen.
  13. If you are gluten free substitute the "Whole Wheat Flour" in that recipe for a gluten free one.
  14. Yes....she meant well. It isnt easy for anyone. Poor Gabe. I hope he is better soon. Im invited to a dinner party Friday....our host said, I will fix a gluten free dish for you. And I just have to say.....It is always better for me to cook for myself, so I can relax and enjoy your good company. Im coming to see you guys....not for the food. But...
  15. I can honestly recommend Neem now and there are a lot of studies on Grapefruit Seed Extract. Add coconut oil into your diet. It kills candida. NO SUGARS at all for a few months. Just low sugar fruits until it is under control. And not too many starchy carbs either. Nuts and seeds will give you nutrition and calories without feeding the fungus.
  16. Pamelas mixes are very good.
  17. Dessicated thyroid will ALWAYS suppress your TSH. Always. Doctors who really understand thyroid DO NOT go by TSH when Rxing Armour/natural. TSH is useless once you start taking it. My last TSH was .008 and I am fine. I feel best when my Free T3 is at the very top. Last one was 4.1 and the range goes to 4.3 (my labs ranges). I have no symptoms...
  18. Im really thinking about this one. I always aced interviews because I come across as very pro-active and competent. I believe that is what employers are looking for. If it were me, I think I would say something like: I am really looking forward to my interview with you on whatever date. And I appreciate your gracious offer of providing my lunch....
  19. Yeah...I wouldnt allow gluten flour in my house at all. It is easy to breath it in. And when your wife cooks with it, it gets everywhere unfortunately. Would they be willing to use gluten free flours for dregging meats and such and buy pre-made other gluten stuff so that there doesnt need to be any gluten flour in the house at all? I dredge in amaranth...
  20. Are you really willing to risk your health/life to lose weight? And no it would not work his way. Likely just give you D for a few days......water weight lost. DO get your Thyroid checked. Your TSH should be between .3 and 3 (new ranges). Most doctors and labs still use the OLD ranges. My TSH was 2.8 and I was severely hypo. So find a doctor that...
  21. Your blood does not suggest Celiac. You can see if you can get a biopsy to see if you have damage. OR you can try the diet to see if you improve. BUT your high folate can be masking a B12 deficiency. B12 can look "normal" with a HIGH FOLATE when you can be severely deficient and causing neurological damage (to the point it is permanent). Most doctors...
  22. Seafood and shellfish are major sources of iodine and trace minerals. Go with it!
  23. Your last post sounds like someone trying to justify something they are going to do anyway. If you have decided that maybe you dont have Celiac and maybe you can eat gluten, and you have DEFINITELY decided to not worry about it on vacation, then I think you should go ahead and eat LOTS of gluten (no matter how bad you feel) for 3 MONTHS and get blood tests...
  24. Hopefully not. But get it done ASAP! Again, the diet is the only true diagnosis. And you are feeling better. Yeah!!
  25. Honestly, I think it would just be asking for trouble. White flour gets everywhere....such fine particles. You can easily breathe them in and they get in your throat and down into your stomach. Very risky at best. I hope you have other opportunities for jobs.
