  1. My grocery has a pharmacy as well with reading glasses on display. I would borrow a pair. But not make a habit of it. Just if I forgot.
  2. I just use my regular oven to heat up all of those things, but could see the value in the toaster oven. I have a 100% gluten free home and a brand new oven even, so no worries here. But using tin foil under food in the regular oven would offer protection.
  3. "please make sure if you are drinking alcohol that it is for sure and for certain gluten free by ingredients not by processing." Good advice if you are not drinking in excess. And it sounds like you might be. You do need help for this. Alcoholism will do you no good. The more you drink the less likely you will stick to the diet (poor judgment) and...
  4. I had the same problem for about the first 5 weeks. Starving!!! And losing weight too. Nuts/seeds helped and I had to start baking. Bob's Red Mill has some great and easy recipes. Look for the Teff/peanut butter cookies. My family gobbles em up!! I use almond butter instead cuz I dont do peanuts. But they give a little extra to keep you full till...
  5. The pictures/descriptions on the site look good. Report back to us and let us know if they are tasty. I tried some rice tortillas....yuck!!! I have thrown out so much gluten-free food that I am sticking to my own food. I bake better than those companies anyway. I am going to try some teff tortillas and maybe some amaranth soon. So far I have been...
  6. They say a good man is hard to find. I say a good Doctor is EVEN harder. For those still searching. Good Docs are out there. Dont give up!! The doctor I am with now is actually the same doctor I consulted when I first started having these problems 12 years ago. Back then she didnt know enough to help me. A conventional M.D. who was about ...
  7. Stopthethyroidmadness has some great information (and some not so great). But one thing you need to check is that your doctor is using the latest lab values for TSH. It used to be up to 5 was normal and now the cut off is 3. Some experts think it should be 2. My TSH was 2.8 and I was very hypo. Im on Armour. It helped a lot. My doctor treats by symptoms...
  8. A toaster oven is only good for toasting Gluten Free Bread. I dont have a toaster. The gluten-free bread that is store bought tastes nasty to me. So I have no need of one.
  9. It is great you have found a good doctor Rachel. That is half the battle!! My Doc. now is very good. She is nationally known and respected. Gets referenced in all kinds of alternative books, gives talks and has a featured spot on a nationally syndicated radio show. Impressive, but I still do not trust everything she says. And she makes mistakes that...
  10. The dentist I used, said that cilantro is one of the most powerful chelators of Mercury. So powerful that he said he would never even eat it. He did mercury fillings for many years 3 decades. He knew he was toxic. He now spends his time removing them from people's mouths.
  11. "poop hole itching"....now that made me laugh!! Laughing is good.
  12. Looking forward to it Rachel.
  13. Venting is good. And it is very hard. I had a pity party for the first two weeks and then I just got on with life. Im eating burgers when I want them. And cookies. I just make them myself. Ive bought a nice nylon lunchbox and some nifty containers. I pack my snacks and meals with me if I am going out anywhere (shopping at the mall, the beach, etc...
  14. Mercury is a funny thing. I had all of my mercury fillings removed (12) about 11 years ago. I painstakingly found a dentist that would do it right. I had to drive an hour to get to him, but it was well worth it. Dental Dam, special filters for the room on top of an open window and a special mask for me. I was blood tested ahead of time to make sure the...
  15. Keep us posted!!
  16. If we are going to be very specific about the symptom "anal itching" I will throw in my experience as well. I have 1 hemmoroid that I devoloped when pregnant with my daughter. It rarely bothers me, but every once in awhile it gets swollen and it "itches like mad" for a few days. I dont scratch it. I use ice packs and witch hazel which takes care of it...
  17. Rachel - What have you done for your Lyme? Mercury toxicity? And most importantly, is it working? Did it bring down your Candida antibodies? Symptoms?
  18. I would def. look into the parasite angle. It sounds spot on.
  19. Fedora...how long gluten-free???
  20. Discrimination between Celiac and Other Gastrointestinal Disorders in Childhood by Rapid Human Lymphocyte Antigen Typing Clinical Chemistry 44: 1755-1757, 1998; "Eight of the 122 celiac disease patients lacked both the heterodimer (**this referred to DQ2 all through the article**) and the DRB104 alleles; therefore, we further screened the DQB1 locus...
  21. I suppose it is possible that neurological symptoms develop with relation to length of exposure to gluten. I didnt have them until 12 years ago. I am 39. I have been exposed to gluten for over 38 years.
  22. Thanks Rachel, I had to go and check my records. I was tested for Babesia MIcroti, Ehrlichia Chaffeensis, HgEAb, Lyme, Q Fever, RMSF and Tularemia. All Neg.
  23. I am on week 7 Gluten and Dairy Free. Interesting looking at your symptoms. I didnt include symptoms I used to have like loose BM's and Gas/Bloating. Those have gone away fro me on the diet. I too get strange ear pressure from time to time and weather changes can bring on a Migraine for me too.
  24. I am DQ1 and DQ3 per Enterolab. My main symptoms are: Vertigo - major episodes about every year or so. But daily a since of disequilibirium. Ataxia - I feel like I am being pulled to the side when I walk Neuropathy - Numbness/tingling in hands and feet. Sometimes they get hot and burn. Stiffness in the a.m. Creepy Crawly sensations all over...
  25. That is a great idea! I would be curious too.
