A lot of Celiacs react to Dairy. Some can eventually add it back in. If you are certain that you did not get cross contaminated, then I would suspect Dairy. Iron pills can totally screw with your digestive tract. I took "Gentle Iron" by Solgar and it didnt bother me. -
It is always good to be cautious, but wheat grass/straw does not contain gluten in and of itself. Yes, some kernels will get mixed in. But even if they do, they will be so widely dispersed over tons of raw material to make the paper. It would be well below 20 ppm. Well below. Personally, I am not going to worry about paper. I might if I had a small...

ARCHIVED Still Soooo Tired After 3 Months gluten-free

And please ask your Doctor to test you for Thyroid antibodies (all of them). If you have Hashimoto's, then a few kelp tabs will not get you well and in fact can make you worse. -
ARCHIVED Signicant Other Leaving You...
ShayFL replied to polishmafia's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is true. Everyone wants a "normal" life! I want one!!!! But everyone wants to love/be loved as well. And let's face it, real love, is harder to find than a gluten-free meal. I would stay with my DH regardless of his limitations. We love each other in a very profound way that goes beyond convenience. Once that kind of love is found, then there... -

ARCHIVED Signicant Other Leaving You...

An older post, but wanted to comment. When I met my husband, I was instantly physically attracted to him. Tall alpha male. Just what I like! But I also knew that those types always ended in disaster for the long term. But my guy had a gentle side too that unfolded as we dated. He had 2 Great Danes when I met him. One he had gotten as a pup and... -
Those burning candles really get me!! I do not know when I became so chemically sensitive. My parents were "country people" and they never wore cologne/perfume. They still dont. So I was not exposed to a lot in my home. I got an allergic rash to GAIN detergent when I was young, so my Mom switched to the Dreft or whatever it was that didnt have all...

Hazelnut butter is yummy if you can find it. Yes, peanuts have a mold that carries an aflatoxin. It can disrupt nerve impulses and since I am mainly neuro symptoms, I avoid them.

ARCHIVED Still Soooo Tired After 3 Months gluten-free
ShayFL replied to feelingbetter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A TSH of 3 = Hypothyroid There are new lab guidelines in place: Open Original Shared Link And MANY experts think the upper end of normal should be "2". My TSH was 2.8 and I was hypothyroid. I am on Armour. It greatly increased my energy levels and I sleep like a happy babe. I went on this a year ago. I have only been gluten-free for 6 weeks... -
I agree that eating sticky/sweet and carby foods do this to your teeth. I rarely eat sweets including raisins/dried fruits (before gluten-free and now) and I just dont get plaque build up. There isnt much for the hygienist to do at the Dentist. My gums receded a bit on the front lower mainly. I dont have gingivitis. My gums dont bleed. So the recession...

First of all welcome! Anyone can get Celiac regardless of their ancestry. There is just a stronger link to certain ethnicities. Did he do a biopsy? Not that you need it because a positive blood test is POSITIVE....PERIOD. But a biopsy will tell how your intestines are doing and how much damage you have. You may wish to consult with a gastroenterologist...

ARCHIVED What Do People Eat If You Are Nightshade Intolerant As Well As Gluten Intolerant?
ShayFL replied to lynne1978's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tonight is Quinoa Taboule and roasted chicken and salad. I miss the "hot" peppers as well. But Ginger has heat and so does Tumeric and Cinnamon and a few others. You do learn to be creative. BTW Black Pepper is NOT a nightshade. I need to add more to my signature. I have now cut out Eggs and All Legumes. Not eating Yeast either, but... -
ARCHIVED I'm New, Have A Few Questions
ShayFL replied to A-Swiss's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love chocolate. The dark bitter kind. I dont need much sweetness to it to enjoy it. BUT....over the years.....I have learned that if I eat more than a nibble of it, I get SEVERE rebound depression that lasts about a day. I can eat a bite of brownie or a bite of a candy bar, but if I eat a whole brownie or whole candy bar.....I pay. So I just dont bother... -

ARCHIVED This So Totally Pissed Me Off!
ShayFL replied to loco-ladi's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have purchased two items so far that in big letters said "gluten free" on the box. One was a lentil pasta and the other some almond/rice based crackers. Before I actually cooked/decided to eat them I read the whole box only to find "processed in a facility that also processes wheat". So I threw them out. It did piss me off, but then I realized I learned... -
ARCHIVED Excited To Be Here - Looking For Support
ShayFL replied to FoxersArtist's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome....you are among friends. I am excited for you! And you are feeling results already, so I am a bit jealous too. I have neuro symptoms and they can take a long time to heal.....so I must be patient. And listen to everyone else chart their progress. Cookies are the easiest and yummiest things to make gluten-free I have found. I made some... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Convincing Brother To Get Tested.
ShayFL replied to Bravie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I sure hope the "bet" idea will work. Might be great for a guy. I dont know anything about your brother, but it could be a "co-dependent" thing between him and your Mom. Psychological issues are very deep. It maybe that your Mom needs a "sick" kid and your brother needs to fill that role. So you def have a battle if that is the case. A good therapist... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed--scared, Confused
ShayFL replied to canadave's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Sandi! I did not get a biopsy. My bloods all detected "1" for EMA, tTG IgG and IgA, AGA both IgA and IgG. All "1"s. Negative for both Celiac Genes. Positive gluten sensitive through Enterolab. Double Gluten Sensitive Genes. Do I have celiac? I am gluten-free based on Enterolab. Sorry to hijack. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed--scared, Confused
ShayFL replied to canadave's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just as Sandi says do not worry about the past, try not to worry about the future either. The only moment you have is the one you are living in right now. Do what you can right now and every moment you live in to heal and keep yourself healthy. Worrying about possible cancer in the future will do you no good. You simply face it if it happens and do what... -

ARCHIVED I Am Afraid To Eat Out
ShayFL replied to huevo-no-bueno's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
broiled, poached and steamed are the best bet. Stick with meat and veggies. I tell them no seasonings of any kind. No coatings/breadings of any kind. No marinaded meats. Just plain meat with salt and pepper. Same with the veggies. I tell them olive oil is o.k. -
Dr. thought I had Endo in my early 20's. I had horrible pains with my periods and would bleed heavily and clot. I also had pain during intercourse. And pain when I had to go poop. It was awful. Both my Mom and Sis had Endo and both had hysterectomy by mid 20's after done with babies. But I was nowhere near ready. No babies for me till 27. Anyway,...
