  1. I know that problem with running to the toilet . Ironically I ate more gluten, when having a competition day, cause of all that pasta salad, I made sometimes. Or the pancakes, which are awesome cold, too. Well, actually they are even better cold. You have to try that. Or pretzels and stuff, just little munchie-stuff, while waiting for your fight(s). And...
  2. I use Suave, too. And recently I had that "shampooey" taste on my tongue. And I knew, I was about to swallow something. And then it was already too late. The stupid thing is, once you have that "shampooey" taste, you can spit and spit all you want. It's not coming out of your mouth . So I'm real glad, Suave is glutenfree, too. Hugs, Stef
  3. Woah, both you and your husband are glutensensitive and carry those genes? No isn't THAT something. So much for it to be rare. Did you read the article about the superceliac? That was something about the same thing. Both parents had the DQ2 and in that case DQ8. Can't recall, where I read it though. Are your other two kids celiac, too? My husband and...
  4. Hey, woah, the nuts DO show up. Isn't that weird. I thought, it's only with corn. And Kaiti is right. Some people get better sooner than others. I remember when I started to feel a little better after going glutenfree. I could notice a difference, but it was very slowly with me. Just give it some time. Hugs, Stef
  5. Yes, I find this to be absolutely the case. And I thought the same before, it is, because the blood is NOT in the stomach or guts, but somewhere else. And before my diagnosis, I tried to work out as much as I could, because when I was working out I almost never had any pain. But afterwards then, I always had a lot of pain (or sometimes even worse than before...
  6. Well, as a german I have a little problem in translating "chicken stew with dumplings". Maybe I had it before, but at the moment I'm not quite sure, what you guys are talking about now. There's this language problem again. I guess, you guys mean dumplings made out of bread, that's a little bit older already. Well, I use to make our good old bavarian potatoe...
  7. Wow, I didn't know, that nuts can come out undigested. When first reading your story I thought: "Hm, maybe you're allergic to nuts, besides having celiac." I have different things like that, too. For example the color changes not only in a day, but in only one time going to the toilet two different colors show up. I have the air pockets as well and little...
  8. The problem with that is, that there might be some real celiacs among those glutenfree hobbyists and because they go glutenfree, it's impossible to diagnose that. And couple of month later, when they get bored of their new hobby, the real problems might start. Hugs, Stef
  9. With me my period comes also later, when I accidentaly ingested gluten, but it depends on when in the cycle it happens. If it happens in the first view days, then the period mostly is in time. If it's in the last view days, the period comes later. Also stress can cause it to come later. And breaking up with your boyfriend sure was stress, too. Hugs, Stef
  10. Hey there, woohooo, I was just waiting for this. I thought, i'm the only one in a martial art here. Professional more or less. Sorry, haven't been here for a couple of days, since I finally got my green card 2nd March and it arrived with the mail yesterday. No, it's not green...lol. But I has a lot to do with getting started with my new business and the...
  11. I started to make my own bread. And with the breadmaker I have you can make your own jam as well. And when I go for shopping, my weekly menu depends on the special offers in the shop. That was cheapest for me so far. I will try that website, which Laura posted here. It sounds good. Hugs, Stef
  12. Hello Lee Ann, my hip pain started when I was about 22 years old. The entire symptoms thing started, when I was 21. You're right, it is a real big problem and very hard with pain to first get started with something sportive for your health. I must admit, if I wouldn't have been doing sports all my life, I would have had major problems with that, too. But...
  13. Hello Sada, I think, you're right. He should try to go completely gluten-free. At least for a few month, so he could make a better decision. Just keep on trying to talk him into that. Maybe it works. Good luck for that. Hugs, Stef
  14. Hello Sinophile, I have a question. Do you know of any asians, who have celiac disease? Due to trouble with an ex-friend of mine, that is from India, I would like to know. Because she is asian, her doctor said to her, she can't have celiac disease. Hugs, Stef
  15. Hello Lee Ann, I had a lot of problems with my joints in the past, too. Especially in my hip joints. From time to time I suddenly had a pain shooting down from my hip bone on the side of my leg, that I was in agony. A doctor told me years way before that happened, that my hip joints are too worn out and that I would have a bone "jumping" out of the joint...
  16. Hey Mel, if you can't prepare meals at home yet, do you have a microwave maybe? Well, there's something fast, I always eat and it only takes you about 5 minutes to make. Put 2 paper towels on a plate, take a couple of potatoes and prick them all over and deep a lot of times with a fork. Then place the potatoes on the plate onto the paper towels. Put them...
  17. Ha Berneses, same here. As an asian fan of course, I like asian food. With me, it's just more chinese than thai, but never mind. Most of it is glutenfree anyway . Hugs, Stef
  18. Yes, Kaiti's right. Tea is a good idea. Especially chamomile. It's very mild. And what helped me a lot, was avoiding fatty foods and foods that stink like fat, cause they give you the feeling, that you have to vomit. I try to eat foods, that work against diarrhea, like gluten-free chocolate, potatoes, bananas. Try to get electrolytes (I think that's what...
  19. Hey, that's what we're here for, right? But hehe, my uncle-in-law dave (nickname uncle frog ), he and I are good friends. He actually gave me the walk down the isle on my wedding day, because my dad couldn't fly over, because of his pressure problem with his ears. When we made little fires on some nice summer evenings in their backyard last year he always...
  20. Sada, I know, I feel sorry for that child, too. And my exfriend and I started to argue about the entire thing, everytime we met and so I stopped meeting her. She wanted me to give her kid privat lessons in martial arts and gymnastics, but I really don't want that, when the kids sick. It's just a torture over short or long. I know, how bad I felt. So to...
  21. I tell them: "It's not in my head, it's in my guts." Kidding aside, it's very hard, to get some stubborn people (especially family members) to understand, what our problem is. If they are willing to learn, I'd try to give them all information a can. Brochures, internet-adresses, message boards, maybe something, where they can read a doctors letter or so...
  22. I recall severall times having pain in my intestines while munching Lays plain potatoe chips and drinking pepsi while traveling in a car. Just pain though, no diarrhea and other celiac symptoms. First I was thinking about the cross-contamination with Lays. But a couple of days ago I figured out though, that some kinds of sugars give me pain in my intestines...
  23. Hm, that's quite interesting. Lately I discovered, I have problems with sugar, too. But not all kinds of sugar though. I'm still experimenting. I can eat potatoes though, without any problems. Hugs, Stef
  24. Hey, Sada, Exactly what I think. These 55% of diagnosed celiacs, who do NOT follow a strict glutenfree diet, they just piss me off and their uneducated doctors as well. Sorry for the language, but they really do actually and why should I slime. They don't know, how hard they make the life for the rest of us celiacs. I think I already told you guys about...
  25. How long has it been however for this people (and you probably) between eating "a very little" amount of gluten and "very little damage" and having the next following biopsy? Maybe they had a little bit of damage for one or two days and until the next biopsy the damage was already gone? Hugs, Stef
