    ARCHIVED Help

Watch those taquitos in the corn tortillas too, though! I almost bought some, and I did the smart thing and read the ingredient label first........all the ones at this particular grocery store had wheat in them (several different brands even, though unfortunately, I don't remember which ones). So just be sure to read read read your labels!
  2. Thank you!!!!
  3. Vanilla wafers? Recipe please?
  4. Well I'm glad I'm not alone. I felt pretty cruddy this morning, but did ok the rest of the day. I'm curious to see if I have a drawn out reaction, as this is the first major glutening for me since I started the gluten-free diet. Thanks for the support everyone!
  5. We were out running around yesterday, and our last stop was the grocery store and I was STARVING and craving pizza. So I hit the frozen aisle looking for gluten free frozen pizza. I found both Glutino (a couple kinds) and Amy's rice crust pizzas. My dear sweet hubby was helping me read labels, as I noticed not all of the Amy's boxes had Gluten Free labeling...
  6. When you say filter coffee, are you using a metal mesh filter or paper filters? What type of coffee are you brewing? I know that many flavored coffees could be a problem, so if you are drinking something that is flavored that may be the culprit.
  7. I suppose what I should have said was: If you have gone through traditional medicine channels and undergone a bunch of inconclusive tests, and then opt for Enterolab, and find out that you have the genes and have the symptoms, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that you have Celiac Disease? (Wow, that was a run-on sentence!) I guess my point is this...
  8. Just posing an honest question........... If you have the genes, and you have the symptoms, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that you actually have Celiac Disease?
  9. Kit, Welcome! I just scanned most of the replies, so some of what I'm about to say may be a repeat, but I wanted to offer you some support. I was just dx'd in August, so I just hit two months of being gluten-free. And it has been difficult, no lie. I went through feeling like "There's nothing I can eat." And then I discovered there's a ton of things...
  10. Hey Jess! I haven't had my fasting glucose tested recently (it's actually been a looooooong time since that was checked), so perhaps that's something else to consider. None of the doctors I've been to seemed at all concerned about the possibility of diabetes, even though there is a family history of it. Yes, to the TMJ. I was dx'd with that when I was...
  11. I'm glad she was able to quit using Lame Advertisement! I've tried it before, but unfortunatly had some very unpleasant side effects (similar to being glutened, for me; hmmmm.........). I think I'm going to try Wellbutrin this time around. Maybe it will help with not only quitting smoking, but also help with the mild depression I can't seem to shake. Thanks...
  12. Hey sweetie! Glad to see you here! I know you've been through the wringer, for sure! Hope it gets better soon! I've read and re-read through that website, and there's some awesome info there......now how to get my doc to read it........... Sending you a PM back.
  13. I have hope! I know I can do it, and I think I'm finally ready - I've tried several times before and it didn't go so well. julirama - thanks for sharing your symptoms. The only thing that really fits me (listed in your symptoms) is the thirst, and the cold hands/feet. I don't think I would consider my headaches migraines, but they certainly are annoying...
  14. Mother of J - I have noticed what I think is abnormal hair loss. It's not coming out in clumps, but it's certainly not a 'normal' amount. My periods have always been on the heavier side, and last 7-10 days. Just recently I've noticed my cycle is a little out of whack (last one was right at 21 days) but I just blamed that on the celiac disease. The thermometer...
  15. I don't have those specific symptoms (except for the anxiety, which is not constant). I do have other symptoms (irritability, fatigue, gritty feeling eyes, unexplained swelling of eyelids - although it's been a long time since this has happened, constantly thirsty, difficulty concentrating or remembering things, brittle breaking nails, jumpy eyes, ) but a...
  16. I'm still researching and trying to gather more info to take with me to my next doc's appointment. Here are a few other things that are plaguing me, that I'm wondering if they could also point to thyroid issues...... High(er) body temperature - I typically see right around 98.6 when I get out of bed in the morning, but when I take my temp in the evening...
  17. Gotcha. Thank you! I'm all ears if anyone else thinks of other things that I should have checked.
  18. No worries about the tangent. It was interesting reading (though I'll have to come back and re-read it again when I'm less brain dead). Ok, making a list........ -Ferritin -Morning Cortisol (is this the saliva test I read about? or is this blood as well?) -Thyroid antibodies TPOAb and TgAb -MMA Just want to cover as much ground as possible...
  19. Sorry to be dense.........but was this for me, Shay? (Again, I'm brain dead today.) So if you meant this for me, I should: -Have my ferritin checked (Looked through lab reports since July, and this has not been checked) -Have my thyroid antibodies checked (Is there a specific test I need to ask for?) Right? While I'm at it, are there other specific...
  20. Thank for posting, Mother of Jibril. I seem to recall another thread recently about slightly low thyroid and whether to be concerned.......wonder if I could find it again. Do you think this is worth talking to my doc about? To my knowledge, there haven't been tests for nutrient deficiences (other than B12/Folic Acid), hormones, low stomach acid or heavy...
  21. Hey y'all, I could really use your help here. I'm approximately 8 weeks into the gluten-free diet (and yes, I know that's not very long) and still have a number of troubling symptoms plaguing me. Fatigue - this is a little better, but I still need to nap several times a week after work, or sleep a full day on the weekend to feel even a little improvement...
  22. I get ringing in my ears too, and certainly don't hear like I used to. I'm constantly asking people to repeat themselves (sometimes three, four or five times), especially if there's any kind of background noise at all. Ironically, I finally saw an ENT about this last year, after years of saying that I really needed to get my hearing checked (and my family...
  23. THANK YOU!! I used Tigi products for years (LOVE them!) before celiac disease. I haven't gone back because of the uncertainty about the ingredients. I'll be watching this thread for an update! Keeping my fingers crossed that my fave products are ok to use!
  24. My bet would be on the Rice Dream. If you do a search for it here, you'll see there's been lots of discussion about it being processed with barley enzymes, so even though it says 'gluten free' and it likely meets the new standards for it, really sensitive people may still react. I noticed I was still having some issues a week or two ago, and I was still...
  25. I'm only six weeks into the gluten-free diet, but thought I'd chime in here anyway. It will be interesting to come back and read it a few months down the road. Physically, there are a bunch of things I've noticed improvement on, but some things that have gotten worse or are still the same. Noticed Improvements: No more muscle twitching in...
