  1. they also have pizza at the liberty inn, and the british pub in the england pavillion(rose and crown) has the best gluten-free cider: strongbow
  2. i'll second what richard said. i have had nothing but awesome service at disney and not only do they check food for you and serve you special but they totally act like it's no big deal and do not make you feel bad! they are extremely nice !! enjoy
  3. for what it's worth, i don't consider myself to be too sensitive to gluten yet i have definitely gotten sick off of gluten-free lays chips, it took me a long time to make the connection but i'm pretty positive that's what it was a bunch of times. so even though it's labled gluten free this is one of the few commercial products i avoid now because of cross...
  4. why is there any concern over a toaster oven (as long as you're not placing directly on the rack). i understand a toaster - that was one of the first things i did when i was diagnosed. but to me a toaster oven is like a regular oven and i use both with the same caution (tin foil, pan, etc.). so i'm not sure what the cross-contamination is there. also,...
  5. random message about ramapo valley brewery, i live really close by so i went there last night. the bartender said they do NOT sell it at the bar. how weird is that? so the only way i can get it is by ordering it and bringing it home. i was very disappointed i still can't have a beer at a bar! but i drank some cider somewhere else so it's ok.
  6. both irish and english, more irish than english though. ireland is the best country i've been in for celiacs
  7. shiraz is a good red wine, about $12 a bottle, and it's served in outback, everyone's fave restaurant!
  8. i flew on virgin 1 1/2 years ago - they had AWESOME gluten free food! i guess cos celiac is more popular in the UK. enjoy!!
  9. drink whisky! i found out right before i started going to this site that it was gXf. also drink cider - all US brands i've seen except for hornsby's are ok. for whisky i recomend bushmill's.
  10. it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong, it's just that eating out is always a problem. i've had that same problem at outback; it's my one complaint about them. but i always just explain it to them again and ask for them to make it separately in a fresh bowl etc. and i always inspect my salad too cos sometimes there are crumbs of croutons but no...
  11. i noticed it was on celiac.com's website as being an ok ingredient but this is all news to me (very good news i might add) just to make sure: i don't have to avoid colored cheeses anymore (except shredded which may have wheat starch) and popcorn ?? i'd been avoiding certain microwave popcorns and cheddar cheeses etc. cos of annatto.. thanks for any help.
  12. thank you for that post jessica!! i'm in japan on an american air base for another week and i'm running low on gluten-free food so i have no choice but to eat some commercial gluten free stuff. fruity pebbles are awesome!
  13. i'm wondering how much to trust something that says gluten free, like do they know it's possible for cheese and salad dressing to contain gluten? i always wonder about that when restaurants list something as gluten free.
  14. hey, i'm carolyn, from nj, i was diagnosed in 1998 through a blood test and then an endoscopy. i was a freshman in college at the time and it sucked but now it's pretty much ok except for traveling and dealing with other people giving me crap for it. interesting side note: my endoscopy pics were so evident of what coeliac looks like that my doctor asked...
  15. i think i lot of places stick a disclaimer in there just so they don't get sued or something. i eat ruffles without a problem except for the WOW but i don't know if that's the olean or whatever it's called or gluten, either way probably not good for people with stomach problems!
  16. colored cheeses, like cheddar, american, etc. can be colored with something called "annatto" that may or may not contain gluten (you have to call the company). could that be it? sorry if you already knew about that !
  17. horsby isn't gluten-free cos they use wheat in their caramel coloring but woodchuck, strongbow, magners, bulmers, woodpecker, K, cider jack are all gluten-free

    ARCHIVED Outback

i've never had any problem eating at outback !!! including eating cheese and salad dressing on the salad (which according to their website is all gluten-free). but i'm wondering, does that gluten-free menu translate internationally? i'm in japan right now and there's an outback nearby. while i know i can always get a plain steak and potato, i'm wondering...
  19. i was just in ireland for a month. it's like a celiac paradise (or coeliac as they spell it). every bar has cider on tap, every restaurant i went to (in dublin, belfast, cork, kilarney) was able to help me. instead of just the usual plain piece of meat and a potato, i was getting soups, sauces, appetizers, bread, etc. in dublin there's a place called fitzers...
