  1. Hello Chelskers, I have a couple of things that come immediately to my mind and they really help me a great deal to this day. Think of yourself living in the olden days, maybe not back to the caveman days, but lets say the pioneer days. Think about what they would have eaten (things that are gluten free of course) on a daily basis (hint) it would not have...
  2. Just an FYI if anyone else is like me and very sensitive to Oats, I called Bob's Red Mill today and spoke with them about the gluten free flour's they make. I was suspicious that I was getting oat contamination causing me to have symptoms after eating gluten free goodies made with Bob's Red Mill. Sure enough, while they do have a dedicated facility for processing...
  3. Hello Tarnelberry, sorry for the delay in response....The ones that are posted below are the ones that I did not test on your posted list. All the others on your list I have tested. I went on a mission to find a gluten free dry dog food, focusing on the "grain-less" brands for what I thought would be obvious (no gluten). It has not worked out so well...
  4. Hey, good deal Chuck!! Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery! I know I am very thankful for this site and those that post on here, as they are helping to save lives everyday in my opinion. All the best, Mike
  5. Thanks for the responses, Ravenwoodglass, this totally makes sense to me. I have been kind of stumped lately. I used to react literally within the hour and now it seems to be at least a couple of days and yes, same deal for me with the DH. I get the stomach and bowel issues and then the next day, the elbows flare up and itch. Always learn from your posts...
  6. Our local celiac expert in a meeting, made mention that gluten builds up like rain water in a barrel and when the body has had enough, it "reacts" (she was talking about long AFTER a celiac diagnosis had been made). I was wondering if anyone else knows anything about this or thinks this is the way it happens to them? Thanks and all the best, Mike
  7. This is a major issue on these boards. People are told that these items are gluten free and they are not. I am sure it is done with the best intentions being in mind, however, this is serious business we are dealing with (a persons/families health) I have tested at least 3/4 of the dog foods listed on this post, they tested high positive for gluten via an...
  8. Oats are just totally not an option for me-certified or not. Through more testing, it was discovered that I have ASE-avenin sensitive enteropathy with a cross over reaction to gluten/gliadin . I cringe when I hear how the industry is pushing oats as a safe alternative for those with celiac. I do realize it is to each his/her own as far as making a decision...
  9. Well, I asked the GI doc for none and he thought about it for a minute and said he would do a half dose. I remember all of it and watched it on the monitor and even asked him questions during the procedure once pulling out the bite plate/guide (he did not like that). I did take the anti gagging spray. Bottom line, all but painless. I have another one due...
  10. Gosh mommida, I am not a doctor. I would not hesitate to go to the hospital if you think there is dehydration. I can say that the Zantac that I tested did not contain any detectable gluten. When I had a bad flare, I would take childrens liquid Benadryl, this also tested negative for gluten and it did help me a lot. Shaved ice may also help with any discomfort...
  11. Hello mommida, 45 years old for me. HHmmm, I am confident I have had this EE my entire life. In particular as a child up to oh, say early teens. I had lots of chest pain/vomiting as a child, taken many times to the hospital with parents thinking I had a heart problem because of the chest pain and then it went away, nothing that I ever noticed until about...
  12. EE is "another" one of the rather gray areas of modern medicine in that the Doctors don't seem to be real sure. Fact of the matter is unless the EE is visible during the scope, they most often miss it. 87% of all "EE" cases can be cured or at least brought well under control without medication by finding the trigger(s). Skin prick when done properly can hardly...
  13. Hello Lisa, Cincinnati Childrens is an international leader in EE and I highly recommend them. They have a program that you can bring your child in for a consult and testing. I am a patient of theirs (EE) and they do an awesome job. So far with the removal of gluten, I have not needed to take any medications. Hopefully you are aware that a lot of labeled...
  14. The onset of diarrhea in adults can be gradual or dramatic. The sudden onset of diarrhea would tend to suggest diseases with an acute onset rather than an inherited disease (such as celiac disease). For example, any type of physiological stress or infectious process, such as pregnancy, traveler
  15. It is becoming painfully clear that this is a subject that is not going to happen without heated debate. I had a remarkable recovery for the first 3 months gluten free and felt so good I was ready to go out and embrace the new lifestyle. I will tell you straight up, I came to web sites like this one and got "safe food" information that this is good and that...
  16. Please put me on ignore. I will continue to post the truth.
  17. Do you need wine or beer to survive in this life? Of course not. This is generating fear? Of course not. Yes, the gluten free lifestyle is very complex. And folks like you that spread it's ok because I read it somewhere and here is the link, no that is fear. My agenda? To help others understand that there is a problem with gluten in places it should not be...
  18. Well, it just isn't like that. Just like it is not for gluten free beer. There is a serious cross contamination issue with booze. Some may never notice it and may not react and this is another subject of controversy (how much is too much?) The old thought process is no longer valid in my opinion and it is out of control. This view is not looking at the entire...
  19. Paula, you are such a good thinker! I have lots more to add to this list of negative for gluten at the time of testing. List includes pet food (dog and cat-tell you right up front, it is not a big list on the dog and cat food, I have tested so many and the results have not been good) and a lot of things like Benadryl more toothpaste, Pamprin, things like...
  20. I use rubbing alcohol and water mixture. I might be a bit anal with this, oh well. I wipe my cell phone off when I get home and will wipe off the counter tops on occasion just for good measure. Hey when you are hyper sensitive to this gluten deal, what the heck. Yes, law suite, not going there right now, besides, if a person starts naming names, it just might...
  21. Have not tested any mushrooms. I have tested Redbridge beer, did I already mention that............ All the best, Mike Oh and the washing of the oranges did not seen to help when I got glutened. It is my understanding that the gliadin protein is non-water soluble and tends to be sticky. It will absorb in alchohol and this is why if you ever get glutened...
  22. Edited the list and added more items, mostly personal Health and Beauty type of things. I still have many more to post. Will be a while before I add any more I think. I have tested Red Bridge Beer. All the best, Mike
