  1. Wow, I think you have the best mom ever! Your post made me have a HUGE smile on my face!
  2. HUGS! I'm right here with you. I'd love it if my dd would eat even a hot dog! I send her with a fruit cup, jerky and staxx (for eample), every day, and I'm lucky to get the protein in since she gets sick of it fast. Sometimes it's fruit cup, funyuns and a pickle so I don't make it the same too many days in a row! On the days they have something good...
  3. Hi! Aside from the fact that our dd's symptoms are different, my dd (6) sounds like a similar situation. Her celiac panel came back negative except for positive IgG. From what I have learned, Gliadin antibody positive (IgA or IgG) means gluten intolerant at the very least. Here is a presentation that was very helpful to me and he wrote a book as well...
  4. My 6 yr old usually gets diarrhea and gas within 15 minutes of eating it. Often before she even finishes the meal. She usually will then have symptoms for 2-5 days. But then, sometimes, she will have trouble out of the blue, obviously a gluten problem, but I can't trace it back to anything. These are the confusing times when it's not clear what happened...
  5. My Mom was just visiting us, her last visit was 6 months ago, before going gluten free. The number of times she commented on how much better things were was fantastic! The girls are getting along with each other better, playing together, not fighting as much, they are more able to "go with the flow" if plans change, less whining, less complaining, sharing...
  6. My Mom swears by Ghee and believes that it is casein free. I have not tried it yet. We use Smart Balance Organic, the dairy free one, not sure what it is called exactly and it seems the most like butter from everything we've tried. s
  7. My dd, age 7, gluten free since december and allergic to dairy but I've only recently gotten her back on dairy free...... I supplement with magnesium for her ADHD behavior. The magnesium has a huge calming affect on her. I give her 1/2 tsp 2x a day of CALM powder in juice. She is also helped very much by epsom salt baths (2 cups in a bath, soak for 1...
  8. I found this exerpt to be helpful in explaining it..... My daughters are casein free as much as we can in hopes that it will help with their behavior issues. So far, it seems to be helping and my 6 yr old who is super gluten sensitive seems to be doing very well since we cut out the casein..... Casein is the principal protein found in fresh cow
  9. Wow, we have done so well with Utz. I will pay close attention now though. Scary.
  10. I'm the same, 1 kid who will eat anything and 1 that won't! Julie, HUGS to you! I know this is so tough. My picky eater is 6. She's super gluten intolerant. She would rather eat chips than anything else. What I do now is tell her she needs to pick a protein and a veggie for her lunch and dinner. If she picks it, I'll cook it. If she eats it, then...
  11. Hi! I am glad you are seeing help from gluten free!! My dd (7) has negative gluten testing (celiac and allergy) but I removed her from gluten in december. Her itchy skin and leg pains have improved and her behavior has improved as well in the 2 months since going gluten free. Her doctor strongly recommends going casein free (dairy free) too and believes...
  12. This thread is very interesting for me! My 7 yr old dd who has negative celiac and gluten intolerance testing, but has been gluten free since december is someone who has had a history of leg pain. She also often slept with a pillow under her legs and cried herself to sleep and we wrote it off as growing pains. I've taken her to the Ortho Ped. since there...
  13. My kids love ribs and shrimp which has seemed easy to find local restaurants where they will make them without sauces or spices. My best recommendation is to start now with getting them used to gluten free items that are from the adult section of the menu. The kids sections rarely have nice gluten free options. I'll get them a meal to share that might...
  14. Yes! My 6 yr old spent her life so far wanting to be held. Now that she is gluten free, she's much better, but when glutened or when she's sick, she does not want to walk, gets very whiney and wants to be held all the time.
  15. Wow, totally weird. I don't know what to make of it, but it is an interesting thing to track. And why 9:11 (also bringing up references to September 11th).
  16. Kinniknick is our all time favorite, I think it's a pancake and waffle mix. We always make waffles. It's a hit with gluten free and gluten eaters alike.
  17. I don't know what is right or wrong or possible or not possible regarding gluten labeling and testing, but I do know that I just glutened my daughter by the Trader Joe's Cheese Puffs. I knew the back said shared "equipment" and it was our first try at that. I thought it would be OK since she has done fine with shared "facility". She was sick within 10...
  18. Do you know why, before my daughter went gluten free, it was not obvious that it was the gluten making her sick but now that she's been gluten free for 4 1/2 months, she's like a gluten detector and cross contamination by eating something made on shared equipment will make her sick almost immediately? Same thing with me, I'm allergic to wheat and it used...
  19. Hi! I'm glad you have come here looking for answers and I hope you find what you need to help in your healing. I wanted to mention, that my co-workers daughter, newly diagnosed was getting gluten fingerprint rashes if she touched gluten and then touched her skin. So I do believe it is possible to react to gluten touching your skin if you are highly sensitive...
  20. I have certainly noticed that with celiac, there does not seem to be any cut and dry answers. Do you have the test results? If not, I would ask for a copy. I have found that I had lots of questions for all the knowledgable people on this forum that was so helpful! I know you have tons of questions!
  21. It was prescribed by her doctor, a steroid cream that starts with a T. I can find the name if you are interested. It was the only thing that worked. I don't normally like to use steroids but in this instance, it was a relief. s
  22. Oh MSG is rearing it's ugly head at our house. I can't believe I even thought to buy something that had it and why do they even still use it???
  23. Hi! I'm sorry that I do not know the answers to your questions. But, I also have a wheat allergy, not an intolerance. I feel completely better when I do not eat wheat. Because of this, and because of my daughters needing to be gluten free, I live a gluten free lifestyle happily. I don't miss the wheat at all. It sounds to me as though you have many...
  24. Hi. My 6 yr old daughter has epilepsy. Before we finally found medication that works in supressing them, she was having hundreds of seizures a day, most you could not even see but I was seeing at least 10 a day where she was staring off into space, unresponsive. She never did convulse but she might walk off for no reason or continue to try to do something...
