  1. I just received my test results back after 2 1/2 months of being gluten-free and the GI did not find any evidence of Celiac Disease so I don't know if I have healed so they couldn't see any damage or if I am actually just intollerant of: Lactose/Casien Gluten Peanut Corn Soy Bean Vinegar (but not wine) and was curious about everyone elses' diagnoses...
  2. Thanks for asking the question - I just contacted my local support group but was unsure how much help it would be since I have never been too much of a joiner but am looking for more advice and still have a lot of questions...Kate
  3. I don't have a "curly" tongue but have always had a geographic toungue - my oldest, the one with stomach problems but tested negative for celiac disease also has a geographic toungue. It even changes occasionally. I had just read last week that a geographic toungue was a possible indicator or side effect or something like that... -Kate
  4. Ditto - this looks awesome! -Kate
  5. I always itch and used to attibute it to dry skin, now I think it has more to do with celiac disease. My back is the worst! I switched to baby shampoo or Nutrigina for my shampoo because my head itches and that seems to help a little. -Kate
  6. It takes a long time to shop at first--read EVERY label, however, it gets easier since you know what to avoid completely and I have now started shopping for most of my food at the health food section or store except for my meat but there are still a lot of mainstream products that are gluten-free, my diet is just a little more restricted than that... Go...
  7. I have the same problems with vinegar. I found a brown rice vinegar I am going to try using and see if it causes a reaction. Even apple cider vinegar caused me problems. -Kate
  8. No, this is the same, I just don't use the tortillias - I eat just the meat and veggies with the toppings on the dedicated skillet. I do NOT use the tortillias, even if they bring them, I have them take them away. -Kate
  9. Everything currently says it is safe for people with gluten intollerance, however, I personally have problems and nobody seems to know why. I have tried 3 different kinds of vinegar all with similar gluten reactions. Try it and see... -Kate
  10. Ditto - It sounds like you did everything I would have done with any of my kids. I find some parents like to give advice even when they don't have any real experience with that topic. -Kate
  11. I am also discovering how wonderful and understanding my family has been. My husband helps out at resturaunts and at home and my oldest son now reviews all the food I buy for myself since he finds items that I miss. I have my own shelf in the fridge and everyone leaves my "special" (i.e., expensive) food alone. Even if it sounds much better than theirs like...
  12. Given time, you can make your own vanilla: Here's How: 1-Split vanilla bean lengthwise with a sharp knife. 2-Place in jar with 3/4 cup vodka. 3-Be sure bean is completely covered with vodka. 4-Seal tightly. 5-Let stand in a cool, dark place for 4 to 6 months. 6-Shake jar occasionally during the standing time. I haven't tried yet but a parent...
  13. Also, I noticed that Fajita's were not on the list but I ate a steak fajita last week, with guac and lettuce, no milk products and w/o the wraps and had NO problems. Also, for those of us with corn intollerance too, they appear to be the only chain resturant (so far) that makes margaritas w/o corn syrup (their presidente-sp). -Kate
  14. I just voted for all but also have intollerance for peanuts. -Kate
  15. All digestive pain (along with fever, headaches, joint pain, fatigue) - the docs have checked to see if I have fibromyalgia and so far, I don't pass all 18 points. I am hoping that I don't develop the rest. -Kate
  16. I was just pondering this and thought I remember seeing - therefore, I decided to add my 2 cents. Since discovering all of my intollerances and then accidentally ingesting something I know I cannot eat, I am so sick. However, I can't decide if I am reacting the same way I did before the restricted diet (no gluten, milk/casien, corn, soy bean, and corn...
  17. Don't forget the potatoes. Agree with the freezing, with 3 active kids, in three different schools with three different schedules, a husband who works until who knows when this time of the year, pets, etc. I bake meat for lunches and quick meals later in the week for me, the kids and husband have easier food since none of them need to eat gluten-free and...
  18. My PCP just called after chatting with my GI and I am now scheduled for an EGD to look for, guess what, celiac disease and also Whipple Disease. My question then is this: I will have been gluten-free for more than 3 months by then, will there still be damage to see? They will also be taking biopsies for further testing. They are not doing blood tests because...
  19. I have two sons, one is showing symptoms of celiac disease, the other has no apparent problems and we are waiting for test results on the one - I would either test or wait. I think the odds are 1 in 20 that he will have, relatively speaking, that means there is a 19 out of 20 chance he will NOT. -Kate
  20. OK, to clarify - since I cannot find any butter/margarine product that does not have lactose/casien, corn, or soy bean products - 1/2 C of applesause for 1 stick of butter will work in ANY receipe? So I can bake cakes, etc. Also, since we are removing the fat, we then need to oil (say with Olive Oil since I can eat that) to help with the sticking? thanks...
  21. From what I have read, you should be fine. However, I have symptoms after drinking grain vodka so I avoid it completely. The dietitian said I may just be on the VERY sensitive side since just a little of even what should be safe gives me problems. I sometimes worry that I am doing this to my self (psycho-sematic sp?) but then I realize that it is AFTER the...
  22. Yes I did about 2 years ago - they released me from the hospital when my fever went away on its own, after about a week without discovering why... -Kate
  23. I will run a low-grade fever for up to 2 weeks (usually just one week) but the docs don't know why. My CBCs are always OK, Lupus, Rhumatoid Arthritis, etc. all negative. My allergist just said to take Tylenol for a week until the fever goes away which I have to do so I can work, I still don't know why I have these fevers! Does anyone else have this problem...

    ARCHIVED Mouth Sores

I realize this is an old topic but since going gluten-free, my mouth sores have actually increased! My internist (PCP) suggested B vitamins so I am trying B, Mega, Complex (gluten-free and corn free) - so far, a week and now help. -Kate
  25. What about the vinegar? I tried and kept getting sick, realized it was made with soy bean oil so I switch to a canola oil brand that had regular vinegar and still kept getting sick. I am going to try to make my own with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. I also had problems with mustard made with regular vinegar. Anybody else have this problem????? Please...
