Passed a medium test! Yesterday, my 2 DD, me, and my 25 year oild grandaughter went out to lunch. Both DD quit, but Susan (GD) still smokes. She (after asking) smoked one sitting next to me in the car, and one when we got back to my house sitting around talking. AND I DIDN'T SMOKE! Felt pretty good about that. We also found a new gluten-free restaurant...

I ran into this food blog accidentally whil looking for Indian recipes. The writer has a lot of really interesting "normal" recipes, but has been sick lately. They suspect celiac, but the tests aren't in yet. Should be interesting, if she is celiac, to watch a foodie evolve. tigerandstrawberries.com

ARCHIVED Adhd As It Relates To A Gfcf Diet
ranger replied to looking 4 answers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with mamaw - keep him at 100% Gluten-free Casein-free for a lonf enough time to see results. I don't know that much about adhd but some children with autism resond well to the diet and some don't. If it were my child, I would try anything safe to help him. And, you can make almost anything gluten-free. He doesn't have to give up the pizza, but... -
Day 7 and I'm still here and doing well. I've had a couple of minor slipups, but overall good. I'm beginning to look at cigs like wheat - not tempted at all because it's like poison to my system. And, to you girls, while I understand the stress of being apart from your loved ones, in my case, it's the stress of being with my loved one that is driving...

I eat a lot of fried mush. I fry a bunch on the weekends to heat and eat during the week. I also make a good sized vege omelet and then nuke a portion for another quik breakfast. Sometimes, leftovers from dinner. I'm very bad in the am. It has to be something I can grab without thinking about! I also eat a piece pf fruit every am. Used to eat Total...

Day 5 and it sounds like we are all doing pretty good. I caved Sat. night and smoked 1, but didn't beat myself up about it, and got right back on the horse. I did ask my DH to smoke outside till I felt more comfy with it, and he agreed. My problem is that I don't know how to sit down and take a break without a c. Yesterday, I worked and worked and worked...

I agree with all of the above. The processed food is expensive and, for the most part, just plain bad. Are you in Ohio? I live in Canton, Ohio. If you are around me, I can give you local connections. Do you cook? I buy most of my food at regular grocery stores. At first, keep it simple. Meat, fruits, veges, rice., potatoes, ect. I cook a lot, and...

Agree with peter on the Immodium. That's not much help, but I hope you feel better soon. Susan -
Yesterday, my DD and I went to a restaurant that is known for it's gluten free menue. I ordered a spinach salad, pork chops, and ms. pot. with gravy, even emphazising the gluten free part several times. Also, I'v eaten there several times with no problem. When she brought my salad, she also pluncked down a nice gluteny dinner roll ( on a separate plate...

A day and a half smoke free! I really want to thank you all for your supportive messages - they really help. I'm doing pretty good. It's just every once in a while, I WANT TO KILL SOMEONE! LOL! And, I'm a very mild mannered person. I will say, though, about an hour ago, my Dh came home from work and went outside to smoke ( he's quitting, too) and I didn...

ranger replied to lonewolf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
added 2 oz. ham, 1 oz. grated cheddar, and some dried onions. Turned out really good. And I got fresh bread on a really hot day without having to turn on the oven ( another big plus)! -
TOMORRO IS MY BIG DAY! Tomorro, I will be a non-smoker. I AM SCARED TO DEATH! But, I am going to do it- even if it kills me. I have the patches, lots of snacks and gum, and I'm going to spend the day with my non-smoking daughters going to non-smoking places. I'd say wish me luck, but I think determination is what I need. So- wish me determination! ...

ARCHIVED Rhubarb Crisp/crumble
ranger replied to mom2two's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I posted a recipe for rhubarb cake on this forum not to long ago, so it shouldn't be hard to find. I'm going to try a rhubarb crumble, but won't have time till the weekend. I'll let you know if it turns out. I got the first picking out of my patch, and am going to can some this year. Never done that before. I'd rather freeze it, but don't have room... -
I take melotonin at least once a week. I think it helps and its never bothered me, but now I'm wary. Anybody have an answer?

ARCHIVED For Those W/celiac And Diabetes?
ranger replied to JustAGirl79's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was dx with diabetes first, and was put on metforman. First AIC was 13 1/2! At first, I thought the meds were making me sick, but I had to take them. For months, I was sick, and finally switched to glyburide. That med was more effective - it brought my AIC down to 8. But, I was still sick all the time, and it was getting worse. I got to the point... -

anybody try ham and cheese and things like that, to make a portable "meal"? Gonna try it later. Will let you know if it works. -
I discount that theory - too many people with different bloodtypes are ciliac, and, I don't remember which type it was, but the main food for one was wheat and many ciliacs are that type! Not very good advice. Btw, I'm ab+ - anybody know what I should eat? And don't say WHEAT! haha
