  2. I went to Smoking Sloe's in Northport the other day. It's great BBQ food. It is a small place... about the size of a small pizza place. I'm not really a meat eater... so I steared clear of the ribs and pork... but I tried the Mac n cheese, Mashed potatoes, the chicken and some shrimp bisque. They have a whole gluten-free menu... veggie chili, bbq chili, homemade...
  3. There is a new Gluten free Menu at this place called Pizza Bistro In Massapequa. If anyone is from the area... it is in the southgate shopping center right across the street from Massapequa Highschool. They have an entire menu added now. I used to eat there before I was diagnosed... it's always been good. I orderd a pie there yesterday... 12 inch pie for...
  4. Oh def...my eating habbits have changed for the better. I am eating all natural foods now. My friends and I had a routine of going out to dinner every Friday night... I don't do that anymore with them. Sometimes they even go out 2-3 times a week. I am a health fanatic to begin with so I always hated that they did that. I would say more or less I am still...
  5. NY is good... I was just diagnosed a month ago and I have done a lot of research. Long Island has a lot of restuarnts that have gluten-free menus ,including cafe baldo, which is a completly gluten-free resturant. I havn't even been to the city yet since I have been diagnosed. I can't wait though because I heard there are some excellent restuarnts and bakerys...
  6. If your Villi is finally healed.. and you eat gluten accidentally just once...are you back to square 1 again? Is your villi completly destroyted from the gluten you've just taken in? Or does it depend on the person?
  7. I'll be there! Can't wait!
  8. I just have a question.... I going to sign up for a triathalon in May... and I am reading the rules and apparently you're not allowed to use headphones/Ipod..... is this true of all races? I've done a bikathon before and I used my headphones.... they didn't even disqualify me for not having a helmet!... I feel like I wont be able to do this thing without...
  9. Substitute teacher by day... personal trainer by night.... but... I'm the opposite of ALWAYS having to go to the bathroom if I injest gluten... that's my problem.. so I guess I don't really have to worry about that. I'm very careful with what I eat when I'm at work(natural foods.. like fruits and salads) .. but if I do injest gluten.. I feel bloated...
  10. I use Gold Standard 100% Whey.... I called the company and they said it was gluten free. It doesn't make me sick. I read the ingredients again after reading this thread... they say... Protein Blend(Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Peptidies) Is that the same thing as the glutamine peptides?
  11. I was diagnosed at 25 (just a couple of weeks ago). My symptoms started When I was 23 (Last January). Although, I wonder if I have had it all my life. I do have hypoglycemia(since I am 8) and I was diagnosed with hypothyroid(since I am 17). I am also only 4'10''... I wonder if that has anything to do with celiac. I read that people with celiac could be short...
  12. Do I have to use gluten-free shampoo, soaps, lotions... anything on my skin... or does this depend on the person and how sever the case is. I use John Frida Sheer blonde. I don't believe this is gluten-free shampoo. Even if I am on a completly gluten-free diet... is this like cheating?
  13. Hello... I'm Jamie... I was just diagnosed last Tuesday. I had been having bad stomach problems since last Jan... they really just started randomly. These symptoms included severe bloating, constipation, migranes(but I was put on topamax for those) and gas. I also have had hypoglycemia since I was 8 years old.. and hypothyroid since I was 17. I have been...
  14. I am going out for chinese food... I have always gotten just steamed chicken and mixed vegetables with brown rice.... this sounds completley gluten-free... but are there any no no's I should know about with even steamed chinese food? like MSG maybe? I have my own gluten-free soy sauce.. which of course I am bringing... any help would be great thanks.
  15. I am probably going to be posting a lot of weird, important or even stupid questions for a while... I was just diagnosed, am just starting the gluten-free diet and still have a whole lot to learn. So I would appreciate any help. Anyway.. I have been on this diet officially since Tuesday.. and one thing I noticed was appitite change.... When I was diagnosed...
  16. well... since the symtoms started ... about last Jan... (yet I wasn't diagnosed officially until this past Monday)... I have always eaten a lot of gluten, yes. It is my whole diet. What can I say.. I love bread. Grilled cheese, PB&J... not to mention my favorite foods are pizza and mozzarella sticks. I eat those in moderation though. As for the normal...
  17. I have been using Gold Standard... I wasn't sure of some indredients.. so I called the company.. they said some products had gluten in them... such as cookies and cream protein powder. I am using rockyroad .. she said that had no gluten. I double checked and made sure she knew there was a difference between wheat and gluten and she said she was sure there...
  18. I am very confused.... I went gluten-free for a month... then I ate whatever I wanted for a month so not to get a false negative for the biopsy I had last Thurs. I am reading all these posts about people getting very thin before being diagnosed and then gaining a lot of weight after being diagnosed. I gained about 10 lbs in the past month and a half. I...
  19. How did you gain that 30 lbs? Was it just simply from going gluten free and there was nothing you could do to stop it? I was just diagnosed today. I have hypothyroidism and I already have a very tough time keeping weight off. But I do...by excercising like a maniac and eating really healthy... all I need now is to gain more weight out of nowhere and not be...
  20. I'm going to Cali in June for 15 days and doing the entire west coast..... I found this website... you might find it helpful... Open Original Shared Link
  21. I tested positive for celiac... I've been researching online and every site says that going gluten free will cause weight gain, constipation, choloestrial levels to rise and vitimin deficiences.... is this true? I eat very healthy.. natural and fresh foods... I am a personal trainer and I excercise vigerously 6 days a week.... am I going to gain weight...
  22. I have been best friends with Joann's daughter, Christina, for 13 years. I never really appreciated the restuarant in the past. I had eaten there a few times with Christina to get some free meals... but now.. I've been diagnosed through blood work with celiac and had my biopsy last Thurs. I find out my results next Thurs. I am pretty confident the results...
  23. Happy birthday!

  24. I go to Xsport fitness and they have their own protein powder to make shakes. I called the number on the bottle... and they told me to call the gym. The gym couldn't help me either... all I know is that I looked at the ingredients my self... on the alergen info.. it said... contains dairy and eggs... It didn't say anything about wheat or gluten... the personal...
