You have SO much going on!! Have you made your own nut/seed milk before? We had to eliminate soy because of issues with it. I am still not sure if my soy issues are to soybeans or if it is simply the seemingly omnipresent gluten cross contamination. My last horrendous attempt at eating soy left me with a gluten type reaction, but I was SO new to understanding...

Hi, Lynne! Lots of HUGS, Mama!! I struggle to feed my family with three very young, very sensitive kiddos. And, I am quite sensitive myself. We have been at this for a while now, and I still find that gluten cross contamination ends up in my home. Sometimes it is simply from other people coming into my home to help us. And, it is absolutely amazing...

Our super, super silly DD seemed to start reacting to "oranges" out of the blue when we went really gluten free initially for her. If we are very selective about which orange juice and oranges that we make available to her now, she seems to do well with them. I am not convinced that her issue was with "oranges". On the other hand, I have had a lifetime...

ARCHIVED Drinking With Celiac Disease
weluvgators replied to LandonL's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am one that has intermittent problems with wines that I have drunk, so I am pretty selective about which wines I will drink. They have been fairly low grade reactions, and I haven't done enough experimentation and research to identify what exactly I am reacting too.. But, I am THRILLED that my Jameson Irish Whiskey tested negative for gluten. I had... -
ARCHIVED Sleep Disturbances And Gluten Intolerance (4 Year Old)
weluvgators replied to lizajane's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, our super silly DD has trouble sleeping with any gluten exposure. Her short cycle, very disrupted sleep was a great motivator to help me get us gluten free! Gluten makes her sick. When exposed, she is a "sick" kid, so sleep is very disrupted, and she would often wake up crying. -
ARCHIVED Rotten Teeth!
weluvgators replied to weluvgators's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you for sharing, everyone! I just cannot believe how hard this part has been for us. It really helps to know that we are not all alone! And, lots of hugs for all of you that can relate to the rotten teeth. UGH!! I hope that we caught this early enough that we do not continue to have such extensive issues, but right now we have some serious problems... -
ARCHIVED Getting Diagnosed
weluvgators replied to mikehall117's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For me, I recently decided to do the Enterolab screening with genetic testing. But, I had been looking and thinking about it for a long time. And, I had been gluten free for over 1 -
ARCHIVED Size Difference In Siblings
weluvgators replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hugs, mama! I wonder often if things will get "better" or even just more "normal". But then life in our home is very normal, and we are learning so much about our health and well-being. I am sorry not to have words of wisdom, and I have those feelings of worry for my kids too. -
Our super silly DD just turned four. She has never consumed a normal amount of gluten because it was apparent from her first bite that it was probably hurting her. We tried some direct gluten consumption a handful of times during her months 6-12. At about 14 months, I began to understand the need for me to provide her gluten free nursing, and I eliminated...

Thanks, Mike, for motivating me to understand more about the food that passes our lips!! I am not a farmer, nor am I suggesting that I understand farming practices. However, I live in the Heartland and am surrounded by mainly corn, soybeans and wheat fields. Today at church I found a gentleman that is a commercial farmer and well educated in farming... -
ARCHIVED Urgent Need Regarding A Toddler
weluvgators replied to sweetness34's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think that the writings indicate that celiac does cause those things either. But I do think that much writing exists to indicate should you experience these symptoms, consider that gluten may be a trigger. And how does one know if gluten is a trigger in the equation? Why do people seem so averse to letting others experience a gluten free life?... -

I think it is important for people to recognize that there is a lot of medical information out there to indicate that epilepsy and gluten intolerance may be related in some instances. Let's not dismiss the neurological implications that gluten exposure may have for some. https://www.celiac.com/articles/116/1/Epile...ease/Page1.html I think this sentence... -

I do wonder if they tried a gluten free diet. If gluten were causing the seizures, how would they ever know without trying a gluten free diet? Is there a way to diagnose gluten induced seizures? -

I am finding more information that leads me to believe that anaphylaxis is possible due to gluten. Here are a couple of studies looking at the issue: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link . There is also information on wiki that discusses it, particularly as it relates to exercise induced anaphylaxis, under both wheat allergy and gluten... -
Here are instructions for using the EZ Gluten test that include the use of surface swabs! Open Original Shared Link I have wanted to test surface swabs, but so far all of my tests have ended up dedicated to my food supply. So, I don't have personal experience using it this way yet, but I would love to hear if anyone else has done it. I want to test...

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
weluvgators replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Has anyone experienced issues when interacting with other people that have trace gluten in their personal space? Examples I can think of are people with gluten eating pets (like dogs that are in close proximity to their owners) and people that use gluten containing personal products (like hair sprays). -
Well, the germs I am not really concerned as much about. The gluten, however, I want to eliminate!! We have not done hand wash because I don't see how that gets gluten off of the hand. Ugh!! I really want to do experiments! Where is the gluten lab??

Can anyone elaborate on large diameter stools? -
What do you all do if you find yourself without hand washing facilities? I am amazed at how often my DD finds herself in this situation. Today they were rushed in Sunday school, and she felt like her hands were fairly clean. But I would love suggestions for her to have in her bag for hand washing on the go. Should we just use a baby wipe? This is not...

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
weluvgators replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Hi! I was hoping for some suggestions to help a super sensitive person after they have been exposed. I do not feel that I am the super sensitive one in our family, but that is because I live with an almost 4 year old that is just so incredibly sensitive to gluten. I try to be understanding, but it feels so hard sometimes. Do you have suggestions for helping... -

weluvgators replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Yes, I agree it does sound like an allergic reaction, and that is my current thought for what we witnessed then and there. And I mentioned the eggs because I do plan to test them more thoroughly. We are currently gluten and dairy free with avoidance of soy and corn. There are other foods that individuals in our family eliminate or avoid for their specific... -

I have not yet figured this out, so I try to thoroughly wash the dry beans before cooking. Our local health food store owner has not yet found a bean source that is not on shared equipment. Getting a beans routine down is one of my latest endeavors, but I still have a ways to go. So, if you figure out a reliable source of truly gluten free beans, please...
