  1. I think grains of any kinds are hard on all of our stomachs. Buckwheat, like someone mentioned above might be a great option to try. It's really easy on my stomach. Also, quinoa and sorghum seem to be okay for me, but lately brown rice has been a problem. So, you may want to stick to a mostly 'Paleo diet,' which might be the easiest way to avoid problems...
  2. It is kind of a personal choice. I, personally, choose to avoid products that have that label. Unless, it says they are routinely batch-tested for gluten or something. It's better to be safe than sorry, though.
  3. I was so excited that the words "gluten free" came out of Ellen Degeneres mouth! I never thought I'd see the day. Maybe we can all write into her website and say how great it was for her guest to talk about gluten and how important it is to raise awareness of Celiac Disease.
  4. IBS hypothyroidism anemia malnourishment depression leaky gut syndrome gerd anxiety multiple chemical allergies food/allergies chronic fatigue and probably more i'm sure...like hypocondriac!
  5. On average, how often do you get glutened? (This includes being careful about CC, etc.)
  6. You should try a supplement called IgG200DF by Xymogen. You can get it at most health pharmacies (Though they are somewhat hard to find, you may be able to order them online) ....and so should everyone on this site. It is amazing. It will help heal your stomach faster than it can on it's own. It also helps boost your immune system. I take the capsules everyday...
  7. I think this is because, if you are gluten intolerant and are eating gluten, it will keep your body from absorbing the nutrients that it needs, so it will keep wanting more and more food until it gets those nutrients, even though it isn't. That is why many celiacs are mal-nourished before diagnosed. Since switching to gluten free, you're probably finally...
  8. What I have found that is the most helpful is taking flax seeds for fiber (you can mix it in with your quinoa), probiotics, and digestive enzymes. Probiotics and digestive enzymes will help with the D, but if you need to have more BM's, then try magnesium glycinate. Hope that helps!
  9. Good luck on your biopsy! Good GI's are hard to find. It does seem like University of Chicago and Northwestern is the way to go though to find a doctor. I'm sure it is even harder to find a doctor out of the city though
  10. I was diagnosed Hypothyroid about 1.5 years ago--right around the same time as my GI symptoms started. I have been so-called "gluten free" for about a year, but was not aware of cross-contamination and hidden ingredients (It was in my spices and toothpaste I was using) until about two weeks ago. I am now 100% gluten free (as of almost two weeks). Two weeks...
  11. Did you find a good GI in Chicago? I am also looking for a good/understandable/willing to test/etc. GI in the city.
  12. Keep us updated on your results! I understand your hopes that the results will actually be positive--so you can have a final answer.
  13. Congrats on your good progress! You'll notice your symptoms will disappear even more when you eliminate completely everything gluten (including toiletry products). I, too, am an artist. What kind of paints do you use? I use oil (Gamblin, Williamsburg) and acrylics (Liquitex) and am praying that they are gluten free, so I don't have to buy all new colors ...
  14. Hello~ I was wondering how you all react to eating gluten free oats. I know that some people have no problem with them, while others cannot tolerate them--despite them being gluten free. Anyone know why that is? How do you react to gluten free oats? They make me very bloated and naceous...but not the same reaction as if I eat gluten or soy.
  15. Thanks! Yeah, my face has been breaking out, so I think I will go with the new brushes in that case and see if that helps
  16. I am in the process of switching to gluten free makeup. I won't use any of it until it is all gluten free. I am afraid to use the current makeup brushes that I have with the new gluten free makeup. Is washing your current brushes good enough or should I just buy a new brush set to be on the safe side? I just switched to a gluten free shampoo and am wondering...
  17. Have you tried Whole Foods? Your best option would be something that is nut and fruit based if you are looking to avoid all the other food allergies. I have found it hard to find food bars that are soy, corn, etc. free and low in sugar. Larabar is always a safe bet, because it is just nuts and fruit. Does fruit raise insulin too much? I want to say it's about...
  18. Just thought I would share this. An e-mail I received from Stila's customer service. Stila Makeup Yes, it is gluten free. Please see the attached list of other items that are also gluten free. Free off all allergens Sheer Color Spf 15 ITM H2off Eye Makeup Dissolver Shimmer Dry Oil Lip...
  19. I eat Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oats on occasion, but if I eat them everyday they make me naceous. I'd advice starting off in a small quantity and see how you react to them.
  20. Anything that goes onto your body goes into your body. And gluten-containing products can especially aggravate people with DH or sensitive people who react very easily to gluten.
  21. Thank you so much for all your advice!
  22. Vampella~ What were the results of the Enterolab tests?
  23. Can you tolerate Whey Protein if says on the can that it is "dairy/casein free?"
  24. I can't remember the name of the barbecue sauce, but I know it was a local brand--it wasn't a mainstream brand. The main brands (like Kraft, etc.) seem to have only a few questionable ingredients, like caramel coloring and such.
  25. If there a relationship between Celiac Disease and having certain personalities? Probably not, but would be interesting if there was....
