  1. I randomly came across Tarte Cosmetics website. I just ordered one of their eye pencils and am excited to try it out Seems like not too many people have heard of Tarte yet on this forum...
  2. So, since knowing I've had a problem with gluten, I've become very passionate (naturally) about being gluten free. I feel like I want to share with everyone about the awareness of Celiac Disease and how really, no one, should be able to digest gluten, because it seems we just weren't made to eat it. I am just wondering how you all go about speaking up about...
  3. You can get your thyroid tested through an endocrinologist doctor. They deal with hormones and things. It's a very simple and quick blood test to get and you'll get your results back a few days later. Also, if you are wanting to get a blood test to check to see what vitamins you are deficient in or what your levels are, you could get a Spectracell blood...
  4. How do you go to Hair Salons without being glutened? Do you call ahead of time? Do you bring your own shampoo/conditioner? Do gluten free salons exist? Or do you just stay at home and cut your own hair ?
  5. Thank you so much for your responses. Does anyone have a good article to read about the gluten challenge and the celiac panel test?
  6. I've been gluten light, but basically gluten free for about a year. I have strictly been gluten free for a month. I didn't know I needed to be eating gluten in order to get the Celiac Profile blood test done. What is the minimum amount of time (and how many grams or how much) gluten do I need to be eating before I get the Celiac Profile in order to have positive...
  7. What I have had to do is, when one of us gets back from the grocery store, I am the first to take out some of the lunch meat and snacks or what have you, and then I will put that in a separate plastic bag that has my name on it, and a "do not touch unless you have washed your hands with Gluten-Free soap" sign on it. Also, I have had to get my own condiments...
  8. My Celiac DNA cheeck cell tests came back positive DQ2 (both alpha and beta I think?). I was wondering what the next step is. I have already gluten free (and all symptoms subsided) for almost a year. So, is the next step the gluten challenge and the biopsy? Do I go see a doctor? If so, what kind of doctor would be willing to test for celiac and actually knows...
  9. For constipation, try adding more fiber into your diet--keep the skin on your fruits and vegetables. Try adding ground flax seeds to your breakfast. They have omega-3's and are also a great alternative to taking a fiber supplement. If those do not help, try adding supplements, such as magnesium glycinate or probiotics.
  10. The most popular ones seem to be Enterolab, Kimball Genetics, and Prometheus. You may want to check and see which one insurance covers the most of for you. I don't understand why people are "questioning" you about having genetic testing done. It's easy and painless, and knowledge is power! Sure, it will not diagnose you or officially rule in and out celiac...
  11. I do know that Softsoap and Kiss My Face moisture soaps are gluten free. I personally use all of Seventh Generation cleaning products. They are very natural and hypoallergenic...They are kind of pricey when you buy them, but they last longer than the other cleaning products.
  12. I had this same problem too! I take thyroid meds. and had to decrease my dosage when going completely gluten free. Amazing! Hopefully we can ween off of all our medications...That'll be the day!
  13. Have you gotten your thyroid and your hormones checked from an endocronologist to make sure everything is on tract? As for the headaches.... have you tried taking fish oil and magnesium glycinate? These two are very helpful with migraines. Feel better
  14. Hypothyroidism and IBS......which many of us get mis-diagnosed with IBS, GERD, Leaky Gut Syndrome, etc. I can understand your frustration that they won't adhere to a strict gluten free diet. My dad is gluten intolerant, yet he somehow feels that is happiness of eating piece of bread will overshadow his digestive problems that will soon follow. Makes...
  15. When you are on a gluten free diet, it is 100% or 0%, because even a little gluten can do a lot of harm if you have celiacs. If you are getting your biopsy though, it won't do you any good to go gluten free until afterwards, because otherwise, your results will show up negative. So, if you are for sure doing the biopsy, I would wait to go gluten free afterwards...
  16. I have not been gluten free that long...but I've noticed that as my GI tract is healing, I am super sensitive to almost everything as well....and that includes spices. So, I have to eat very bland food or else my stomach will get upset. So, you could've either been cross-contaminated, or perhaps your stomach still very sensitive right now.
  17. I'm with FoxFire....... "when in doubt, leave it out!"
  18. It's personal decision for everybody. Some people want to get tested so they can make it "official" either for themselves, or their family, work, or some other reason. While others are simply okay with knowing they have a problem with gluten, therefore, avoid it. I say if you ever think you will want to do the gluten challenge, now is the time do it. I say...
  19. I try to use simple terms to the waiter. So, I say I have a "severe allergy to gluten" (even though it is not an allergy, I know....). I ask for my food to be cooked plain (like chicken and veggies), with no sauce, and I ask them to cook it in a separate pan and to make sure my food does not touch anything else. Even though it is not very exciting to order...
  20. Hi Lorrie, I know you said you are not wanting to get on meds., but if you have no other choice, I just wanted to suggest Nature-Throid. It is a natural thyroid. Armour thyroid is as well, but I have many med. allergies like yourself, and I was allergic to Armour (must have been the fillers/dye?). If you are allergic to a lot, I would def. not suggest...
  21. Wendy's chili and a plain baked potato
  22. Junior Mints! Sure wish I could eat chocolate...::sigh::
  23. Have you tried Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics? If I go a day without these two things, my stomach will hurt. Digestive Enzymes can be taken before or after a meal 3 times a day. Enzymes help break down your food (which in turn, prevents you from getting indigestion and upset stomach). Probiotics are good bacteria for your stomach. I highly, highly recommend...
  24. I would double-check to make sure you are not getting glutened from anything you are using--including products. Perhaps you have another food intolerance that you haven't figured out yet? Personally, after I went gluten free, it took me up to almost an entire year to quit having D. So, it could just take time for your gut to heal (that is, if nothing else...
  25. Personally, I get terrible reactions to anything from Ezekiel. So, if I were, I would be safe and not touch it!
