  1. there are plenty of places that will happily take your money from gluten free baked goods and versions of stuff that normally are glutened but honestly dont waste your money for now. eat simply, meats, veggies, fruits, etc and just cut out the baked goods. cook for your self with simple ingredients that are gluten free naturally, get a good multi vitamin...
  2. while other food sensitivities could cause it i really would think it is something more serious. while i dont know much about chrons i would think that could be it. i know one person that i had in a class in Highschool that i TA'ed who had it and my freshmen year roommates sister had it. i know the kid that was in my class had to be on a feeding tube with...
  3. ok so being a celiac that had/has all of the wonderful lower gi issues i have come to a conclusion on things that help at least for me and hope this can aid others. while of course other sensitivities are common and i am pretty sure i have some i am not in a position to do one of the crazy elimination diets and i know many others dont. i have found...
  4. thanks for the suggestion, i will have to have him do that next year when i get a physical -matt
  5. a reason to just start making your own, or at least to make mead -matt
  6. ya a neighbor's kid supposedly was autistic IIRC (he didnt seem like it to me but supposedly he was) and they went to some study thing that was a few month residence thing and they put him on a lot of diet stuff (i think it was Gluten-free Casein-free at the minimum) and he got a lot better right away. -matt
  7. i understand the want to cheat and i consider it some times but i never feel it is worth it for me, some people are less sensitive, to me the idea that having to screen my shampoo for gluten is ridiculous but then i look at a friend who is also a celiac and she doesnt even eat gluten free at all (at least white breads and tortillas dont bother her GI but...
  8. im not huge on beer but redbridge is ok. i like mixed drinks more so that is pretty easy, crow royal and jack are both gluten-free, all rum should be unless it is spiced with something that has gluten in it here is a link to a list https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/lofivers....php/t8360.html dont think this was posted here yet but i am tired and to...
  9. well for me i had a good 8 years of it constantly and probably a good amount of it before that. i found out about celiac disease about a year ago and tried to do gluten-free (was lazy until about july of last year and messed up until about a month ago with a couple things i was eating and didnt realize they were not gluten-free) over all it got a lot better...
  10. so i got my multi vitamin and only have been taking them for 5-6 days and wow i feel much better. it says to take 6 a day but our alternative medicine guy told us to take 4/day. but the daily value of 6/day in the b12 category is 7500%. i already have been sleeping better and waking up more easily and the stomach issues i was having the last few weeks...
  11. thanks, i havent been taking my multi vitamin since i was taking one a day and while there wasnt gluten items in it they say they cannot guarantee what it gets in contact with and all, my parents picked up some multi vitamins for me from our applied kinesiologist so i will get them hopefully today if i can make it back home (the company that makes them guarantee...
  12. this is interesting, i am convinced both my parents have celiac disease and now seeing this it adds to my argument for my father even more -matt
  13. ok so i got told i had celiac disease a year ago about. was trying to be fully gluten free since july/aug range but was accidently glutening my self with some ingredients (corn flake crumbs i had use malt in them and i was eating some steak sauce with malt vinegar in it that i didnt realize) so ive been gluten free to the best of my abilities for over a...
  14. contact your dining services and they should give you a list of what is ok, if they dont or if they dont have a realistic amount (i.e. there is not always a gluten-free option) you can and should pull the students with disabilities routine (you know the thing that all the ADD kids get to use to get more time) because legally they must give you food you can...
  15. ya roda it does seem like other countries are a head of us in diagnosing it. i have seen a bit though that the younger docs and alternative medicine people are much quicker here to pick it up -matt
  16. i feel you, i took immodium every day usually a full dose in the morning when i woke up for the last few years of HS and most of the first year of college, usually you can get your transcript noted after the fact that it was a medical reason to the bad grades so you dont screw your self over -matt
  17. hello all, after i saw that 5 guys says on their site that everything but the bun is gluten-free so i decided to give it a try again (had not eaten there since before i went gluten-free). first time i went in and ordered w/o a bun the manager came over and asked me if it was cause of a food allergy, i said ya and they made sure to keep it off of the counter...
  18. there is a soap that is like the dissolve on your tongue medications/breath fresheners, i have no idea if they are gluten-free but that might be an option, they come in very small packets that can slip in your pocket (they are made to get by the tsa liquid regulations). i know thinkgeek.com has them but i am sure they can be had at other places, might be...
  19. that makes sense to me (honestly i have not read all of the long scientific posts). it seems like the topical reaction is separate but not necessarily uncaused by celiac. assuming that it is true celiacs have more allergies (which i believe from personal experiences of my self and a few other diagnosed celiacs i know) that this is just another allergic...
  20. ^^ ya i really wish she would get more serious about it, shes a really cool person, pretty, talented, etc i know a lot of people get more sensitive to gluten as they are more and more gluten-free and maybe she doesnt see how bad it can get since she has not gone gluten-free i really need to go get checked by our alternative medicine guy over the...
  21. i dont think its off topic at all. ironically i had a short discussion with a friend who also has celiac but she does not have a lot of noticeable symptoms (i notice things that i bet are related like how short she is, and just kind of the way she acts seems like mentally she is a little cloudy). she didnt get the extreme sensitivity and blows off cross...
  22. all of my research i have done says celiacs have more allergies but it is never backed with a study. my doc (who said its not worth it to go through eating a month of gluten to get a test that will just tell me what i already know so he said just go with the gluten-free diet, no real reason to get the test) said Celiacs usually have more allergies and it...
  23. if you are having issues from using BB i would bet it is more a reaction to the honey or something else. seeing as us celiacs have a higher potential for allergies of all kinds. any allergy that you body is reacting too makes the rest of your body more sensitive to other things. just to show how bad pollen allergies can be, i have a friend that if he...
  24. ya, honestly i wouldnt care if i still would get the stomach issues as long as i knew it wasnt harming me as much, of course i would love to get rid of the GI issues but anything is better at this point (i also think my natural medicine guy could help resolve some of the GI issues with allergy/sensitivity clearing, its a weird method but it works). honestly...
  25. it seems like most of the issue is that the gluten crosses past the gut to the blood, im not sure if the GI issues are caused in the track or because gluten gets to the blood though -matt
