  1. ya the last few months of freshman year sucked, i ate chicken wings (unbreaded) and stuff that was more so gluten light, like stuff that just has some soy sauce on it. i didnt go hard core gluten-free until over the summer, but even with gluten light i improved a lot, lost the extra weight, stomach issues were not as bad, better immune system, over all better...
  2. as to the gluten pill my natural medicine person gave me "gluten digestion" made by prosol (but you have to have a doctor get it for you, kinda stupid). even when i know im not getting glutened it seems to help some along with the other stuff im taking. as to the cleaning issue, i know the gluten sticks and all but on pots and pans abrasive cleaning...
  3. found out at 18 april 08(just a couple months before my 19th), i have had symptoms for years, probably all my life just never realized it. took a few months before i was trying to be 100% gluten-free but i did eat pretty gluten light and started to see some improvement, been trying to go 100% gluten-free since july of 08 (last gluten thing i can honestly...
  4. edumicated guess, i would bet its because its a lot of protein but in a pretty easy to digest form. probably just lets your GI track go "o hey, look at that, its easy, alright i can do this" -matt
  5. well when i was still a minor and going the pediatric guy, i just got "o you probably have IBS", and this was from a doc that i knew from birth and trusted and thought was smart. my family uses an applied kinesiologist (chiropractor and eastern/holistic medicine) who figured out i had celiac disease. i went gluten free and celiac disease symptoms went...
  6. thanks for the welcomes well as to taking it seriously its not too hard, i would have to take soooo much immodium everyday to be able to function its not a hard choice. plus seeing the other chronic health issues family members and friends have i just see it as something that i need to deal with. it also helped a bit when my parents kept telling...
  7. not trying to start a theological debate at all, but to "receive" you do not need to ingest anything at all, in europe it is common for them to run out of hosts and wine and they "bless" the people but they are still "receiving communion" just not through ingesting anything. i havent been going to mass while at school this year partially out of being busy...
  8. to the OP, you got diagnosed about the same time i did, i probably had this for years and didnt know. its hard but being in an apartment does help, last year when i was still the the dorms eating sucked, i did it just to sustain my self because almost all the dining hall food was glutened. my friends seem to be really understanding, but then again i...
  9. well lactose issues are common with celiac disease, even after the gluten is stopped it takes a while for lactose/milk issues to resolve but from my research it seems that they usually do resolve for many people. that being said you might just also have a casein issue. maybe supplemental enzymes will help you but unless you can find some one that specializes...
  10. luckily my family is understanding and tries to accommodate me, even my friends are very accommodating (helps that they have other friends or family with food allergies or are nursing students for some of them). my grandparents didnt understand at first how bad it really was but once i explained that gluten=poison they went out of their way to help. once...
