  1. ^^^ "1000 gluten free recipes" is a great book too, it has pretty good foods that are not to hard -matt
  2. i would pre package food, the food you cannot eat out of your pre packaged stuff i would use disposable dishware and plastic silver ware, no worries about CC on washed dishes. do yall have whole foods or kroger down there, both of them have a good selection of microwave gluten-free foods. for when you prepare stuff put down paper towels or foil to work...
  3. honestly i dont see a reason to get the test done other than it will confirm/deny your suspicions , i guess since you havent started yet its something to think about but in the long run the only thing other than maybe a medical confirmation of it you will just get higher insurance. my doc told me after i was gluten-free that if it was working for me there...
  4. thats why natural coal is the way to go to the OP, you will get 2 answers to this a) no a piece of cookware that gluten is used in is never safe washing it well w/ a dish washer at the end should be fine i am a follower of the later. my parents are not gluten-free, not sure if they really have celiac disease or not but when i come...
  5. https://www.celiac.com/articles/21799/1/Stu...read/Page1.html i saw this through the grape vine but it is an article here. in summary, not all gluten is bad for us (most of us knew that because rice and corn still has gluten in it but it doesnt effect us), so some smart person is looking at what part of the gluten is causing the reactions we have and...
  6. i second mushroom. i got Dx lat april, quazi gluten-free until july/aug, thought i was gluten-free (accidently was using a couple things with gluten in them) until about january-march and AFAIK gluten free except for a glutening from eating out. i would get gi issues that i couldnt track, and other little stuff. the last few days ive felt foggy like...
  7. have you tired to goldbond lotion, it seems to work well but im not sure if there are any cross contamination issues -matt
  8. i would not assume anything honestly, i was looking at outback steakhouse's gluten-free menu and their fries are not gluten free even (that was kind of surprising). also most places will need to prepare things differently, outback as an example again says to ak for the salad w/o croutons and to be prepared in a separate dish... how ever, they have a flourless...
  9. hmmm thats weird that your heart rate increased since going gluten-free, did you have a low rate before? but heart rate and BP normally increase with nicotine intake and when taking a deep breath your going to get the "smoking is bad" response of course but its your choice and frankly the political anti smoking groups have made it seem worse than...
  10. i had jury duty before i was going very strict on my gluten-free diet and just loaded up on imodium, i got struck for the jury right away though because the defense attorney asked if any one was related to an LEO or was an LEO/retired LEO. my dad was in the USCG and any coastie that is an officer (commissioned or non commissioned) is legally an LEO. with...
  11. got ya, thats what i was thinking you probably were getting at just wanted to make sure -matt
  12. no problem, with a bit of sweet and sour sauce, sooooo good, you dont even need a knife to eat this either -matt
  13. the frustration will go away in a few weeks as long as you all can stick to gluten free. the gluten is causing depression/mind fog/etc that are making you feel this way more so than you should and it will take a good month for it to clear out fully from your body storm one good easy quick meal i do is fried rice (you have to use a gluten free soy cause...
  14. every source i see says its gluten-free and i eat it a decent amount and dont get sick from it, hence my response to Wenmin of it probably being a secondary issue -matt
  15. well it depends which brand you buy (at least here in the states) i know Ore-Ida here are all gluten-free. another choice is to get a cutter your self, not sure how common they are over in the UK but in the states, especially farther south they are pretty easy to find -matt
  16. ya insulin lowers your BS. i wonder if with going gluten-free and getting your body back to a normal level if you need to change your approach with how this is being treated. -matt
  17. ^^ i have been seeing people say they start to absorb more meds after going gluten-free. but ya low numbers i think are more dangerous than high because you have less room for error before you pass out (looking at logic and from seeing family/friends with diabetes). i am guessing you are not on insulin since you didnt mention it i know morning...
  18. i second the meat/veggies/fruits diet. if you go out looking for all the gluten-free substitutes and try to rely on those to fulfill your want of the normal glutened food it is going to be harder and just more stressful. take the time to let your body clear out the gluten and start to get on the healing path. then you can start to look at other stuff...
  19. like wenmin said ya they should be, but always check. i honestly dont check every time i buy stuff but i do look at ingredients again every once in a while unless i have an issue that arises that had to be from a secondary issue or something, ive seemed to get pretty sensitive over the last few months and jif doesnt bother me as far as i can tell ...
  20. when i talk to people that have a laundry list of med issues (that seem to at least kind of fit) i tell them to look at it, i would bet that a few of my friends a a lot of my family has it but of course they just kind of listen then say what ever looking back there was a kid i met a few years back that now i know he either had celiac/gluten intolerance...
  21. i do want to note that oats are not necessarily off limits, they just do have a very high chance of getting cross contaminated in transport but you might be able to find a product that is safe for you -matt
  22. the only way i have found to be able to figure out sensitivities with much certainty is to go to an alternative medicine person that uses muscle testing to determine allergies/sensitivities but they are not the easiest people to find -matt
  23. i would argue that an extremely minimal amount of cross contamination, will prevent any celiac from healing, i ate gluten light at first and got much much better, given eating truly gluten free i am even better but i dont think cross contamination is a huge issue for every celiac. if your using your toaster every day then i would probably get a new one or...
  24. you will get to a point where you know its gluten as apposed to something else, at least most of us do. for me i get a little depressed along with my D. some times you just have issues that you cannot trace and that make no sense, i had that today, it sucks but o well -matt
  25. im pretty open with it as i dont care much, if i am trying to be polite i say "digestive issues" or "lower gi issues". it also helps when i explain that the gluten is going into the blood stream and that any one would have most of the other issues if they had gluten in their blood streams ( from i have seen in research). honestly i dont care what others...
