I said ALLOPATHIC MEDICINE, not the entire medical community. There is a difference. Acupuncturists, Chirorpactors and Naturopaths, etc, AREN'T ALLOPATHS! I NEVER SAID I WAS AN ALLOPATHIC PRACTITIONER, so no I don't trust ALLOPATHS, like MD's and most DO's.

I have a different perspective and insider information. I can say these things from over 25 years in practice and as a patient that's suffered the foolishness of allopathic medicine. Perhaps I haven't mentioned my father was an ENT/allergist and my mother was a nurse practitioner....

I'm about 16 months gluten-free and had horrid periods before. It's taken a while but I don't experience the severe cramps, clotting or as heavy bleeding. On a scale of 0-10 with 10 being the worst pain/adverse menstrual problems I was 9.5-10 pre-diagnosis. Id' say I'm a 3 now and I'm out of my supplements. I'm also perimenopausal at age 49 and not experiencing...

This will sound like some wacko conspiracy theory but her it goes... If a patient can't be pidgeon-holed, they're cullable If a patient doesn't respond to a uselessly expensive and risky drug, they're cullable If a patient doesn't need a joint replacement (or refuses it), they're cullable If a patient can't work 60-70 hour weeks on end, they're cullable...

ARCHIVED Asymptomatic Children With Celiac Disease May Be Able To Eat Gluten?
SalmonNationWoman replied to SalmonNationWoman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There's no link to the original article and after much frustration on multiple serach engines, all I get are links back to the Reuters Health News. It's hit-and-run sensationalism disguised as medical journalism. I'm sick and tired of the media jerking us around -
ARCHIVED Er Doctors And Gluten Free Drug Lists
SalmonNationWoman replied to thleensd's topic in Doctors
You may not want to have to deal with that cr*p but if you don't, you assume all the risks and the symptoms. I had such a nightmarish time when admitted as an in-patient 2 years ago I've changed my advanced directive for care to read that I don't ever want to be hospitlized overnight, even if it's a life-threatening condition. I had out-patient ligament... -
But would you want to take that expesnive medicine knowing what you know about Celiac and all the meds that were heavily protmoted in recent history that turn out to cause more damage than good? I don't know when I'll open a clinic. I'm still actively healing. It's only been about 15 months for me. My symptoms include neurological, ligament and bone complications...

ARCHIVED San Diego Doctors, Acupuncturists, Etc. Etc.?
SalmonNationWoman replied to alephknot's topic in Doctors
You asked for acupuncturists. Have you considered contacting PCOM (Pacific COllege of Oriental Medicine) right in San Diego? They have a clinic at the school and could refer you to licensed graduates in your neighborhood. -
ARCHIVED Asymptomatic Children With Celiac Disease May Be Able To Eat Gluten?
SalmonNationWoman replied to SalmonNationWoman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are several points I'd like to make that this article makes obvious: 1. There no such thing as objective research in the 21st century. Mega corporations own our public universities, clinics and even the FDA in this country. ALL RESEARCHERS HAVE THEIR PRICE AND CAN BE BOUGHT. 2.The parameters and results are always influenced by the money trail. I... -
ARCHIVED Other Food Intolerances
SalmonNationWoman replied to Youdah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
First off, it can take up to 3 YEARS to fully heal once you eliminate all gluten. You're not going to magically heal overnight or in a few weeks. It take 5 years for you cancer risk to reach that of the "normal" population. Realisitically, not all your aches and pains may disappear. It's a myth that humans are able to live completely pain-free. Pain is... -
ARCHIVED Frusterated With My Boyfriend
SalmonNationWoman replied to princesskill's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You're not going to like what I'll write but here it goes anyway... 1. If a man makes it to adualthood without developing the healthy habit of toothbrushing at bedtime, there's something seriously wrong. Toothbrushing isn't simple orl hygeine, it's a portal to preventative health care for the entire body, especially the cardiac and pulmonary systems. He... -
ARCHIVED Asymptomatic Children With Celiac Disease May Be Able To Eat Gluten?
SalmonNationWoman posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Below is an article that appeared on MedScape. Not only do I not buy that early treatment should be ignored but this is article is very telling of where the medical community is being lead corporo-politically. Instead of working to improve awarenes and diagnosis, the agenda is to push gluten consumption and sell more GE'ed grains. [PUBL] - Asymptomatic... -
I've already been visualizing a reinvented style of practice that's more lifestyle counseling with treatments included. Practicing isn't going to be my primary revenue stream, more of an advocation. Honestly though, with so many doctors speacializing (70% v. 30% in PCP), we need more lifestyle and food therapy doctor-educators if we're really going to implement...

ARCHIVED Best State To Live In For The gluten-free Diet?
SalmonNationWoman replied to crayola's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
With resources like Gluten-Free Mall, Amazon an many of the gluten-free manufacturers available online, why worry about where you live based on your status? Go where you find the best job offers and adjust your gluten-free lifestyle appropriately. SF, SJ and pennisula area are good for gluten-free but also have 24/7 lifestyle bonuses that have nothing to... -
Traditionl Chinese Medicine and Naturopathy both see a connection between diet and reproductive issues in both women and men. Why is it that allopathic medicine doesn't? I don't know but if you always remember this when working with an MD, you'll get a lot farther towards proper treatment and control of your care.

TOTAL SYMPATHY HERE. I'm a doctor and I'm down on doctors myself! I've been on a sabatical from practice since just before my self-diagnosis. I'm not sure I want to return considering all the costly changes I'll need to make and maintain the the clinic a gluten-free zone. I've already decided group practice won't work for me, so BF and I are looking to...

To paraphrase an old addage, "With family like mine, who needs enemies?" We don't get to choose our family but we can choose friends and co-workers (to a certain degree). I've put up with serious disrepsect with my food allergies and other issues, like cancer, for decades with my family. My sister got really PO'ed that I was too exhausted and bald to...

Right now I'm temporarily living in Johnson Co. and have yet to find a gastroenterologist as I self-diagnosed (I'm a DC, NMD, MSTCM, CMT). I'm sure you could find out some good info from some of the members of the local CSA chapter. Open Original Shared Link The local chapter of CSA for KC meets on Sunday, April 26th at 2PM. We meet at St. Joseph's Hospital...

They don't get it! That ratio of 1:133 refers to the # potential number of Celiacs, not those actually diagnosed in the US. I'm a doc and I didn't connect the dots until 15 months ago. My father, who's an ENT/allergist has never gotten despite his obvious Celiac symptoms or that he's had 5 brothers die of Celiac related GI cancers. My mother...

ARCHIVED Probiotic "align"
SalmonNationWoman replied to LandonL's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Read Guyton's, Marieb's, Fox's or any other advanced physiology text. You can find them on Amazon. CORRECTION- I've been dealing with a sinus infection so mental faculties are not as sharp. The HPS (hepatic portal system) receives blood from all the digestive/elimiation and reproductive organs. I erred in including the left side of the chest. It's the... -
ARCHIVED For Those Of You Who Never Lost Weight B4 Going gluten-free
SalmonNationWoman replied to ptkds's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Overwieght and obesity issues run on both sides of my family. I've watched many family members starve, do fad diets, fat camps, spas, Phen-Fen and other diet pills to no avail. I was overweight when I went gluten-free but I thought it was mostly due to inactivity from a torn knee ligament. I had reconstructive surgery and was ready to get back to exercising... -
I've used stainless steel, enameled iron and cast iron long before going gluten-free. Teflon-type coatings are toxic to us and the environment. IF you do feel the need to use something non-stick, try anodized or one of the newer ceramics that aren't just a think coating. Also note that ANY NON-STICK surface should never be heated above 350-400 F. It's...

Despite what others might post about separating atopic dermatitis from ingested ssubstances, the immune system is a not compartmentalized to intestinal villi v. skin. You irritate the system in one way for long enough to trigger auto-immune syndromes and ALL immune pathways can become sensitized. Why do you think those with Gluten Ataxia, Dermatitis Herpetformis...

Why don't you play the cancer statistics card with SIL? Everybody's scared of cancer. I'm sure you can easily find the stats right her on Celiac.com.
