  1. Egads!!! Almost reminds me of undergrad--used to work in the molecular biology lab for our advisor in the evenings till very late, but sometimes we dipped into the 100% EtoH. One pretty, brilliant and hardworking gal (now a brilliant physician, but still a very good friend) awoke the next am on the lab bench surrounded by giggling freshman biology...
  2. We visit Santa Cruz & La Selva Beach several times a year. Will definately make plans to eat there! Thank you.

  5. Yes, I will take that vow seriously. I also promise to promote levity & happiness, and also to use wine to help my friends enjoy life, even when nude. Life is too short to give in to everyday stresses! Wishing a happy day to all my gluten-free friends!
  6. Thanks! I'm a fan of Jestgar--she's a good source of info. You too! Dada
  7. Methinks I've been missing out on all the fun. Been in the dumps over being glutened by my kids and from eating out...but just found this thread, and it cheers me up!
  8. I posted similarly, and got some great crust recipes to try!
  9. Thanks for taking the time to give us the heads up! Much appreciated. -D
  10. Could you re-post the link to the recipe, or the recipe itself here? The link doesn't seem to go to the recipe, and I'd love to try it. Thanks!
  11. Thanks to everyone for sharing great info! I really like the cream cheese crust, it's awesome! Thanks! As far a cost & convenience (also taste and texture), I am very much enjoying frozen pizza crusts from French Meadow Bakery. Six 10.5 inch pizza crusts for $13.50 is a great deal! Open Original Shared Link I've ordered lots of gluten-free pizza...
  12. I've always enjoyed variety, but celiac disease has made that a bigger challenge. I usually like thin crust NY style pizza, but sometimes I just want a thick crust. I'd be happy to know which frozen pizza crusts folks prefer. Also open to tried and true recipes. Perhaps I'm just craving gluten pizza. Thanks!
  13. Trying to delete inadvertent multiple posts, but can't seem to. Could use help from mods. Thanks!
  14. Nitrate (NO3--) is different than nitrite (NO2-) that is used as a preservative for meats, etc. It's pretty common for folks to get them mixed up. Nitrite (Open Original Shared Link) Nitrate (Open Original Shared Link) -D
  15. Want to ask folks for your favorite gluten-free pizza crust. It doesn't matter if it's a purchased crust or a homemade recipe, as I'm looking for both. I miss being able to make or order my favorite gluten pizza. Locally, my favorite pizza in Boise, Idaho has always been Chicago Connection! Since celiac diagnosis, I'm very grateful for local gluten-free...
  16. I agree with the previous posters. Costco doesn't mfr them, and the product's ingredients can change, so it may be difficult to keep an updated gluten-free master list. Also, what they stock varies with store location and with time. My wife always tells me "if you see something at costco you want, just buy it as it may not be there next week."
  17. Excellent! I love it when restaurants are helpful and accomodating. I went to a xmas party @ Cheesecake Factory this weekend. The waitress flat out told me they didn't have anything gluten free when I asked what I could order--she seemed to think gluten-free as a "fad" diet.
  18. Do they use a separate cooking surface, or are all their ingredients gluten-free? That would be just great! I miss eating at the "mongolian grill" in our town. They clean their grill (common cooking surface) with only hot water, so it's not safe for us.
  19. Actually, it hasn't been shown to work quite like that. Studies have not indicated that L-glutmamine stops T cells from attacking. L-glutamine supplementation has been shown to aid in healing in the stoumach/intestines, where it seems to be a limiting factor. L-glutamine is only a building block for protein, that can be in short supply in parts of the body...
  20. Just in case this is helpful, glutamine is one of 20 amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. It is a "non essential" amino acid as it is available in food. L-glutamine is often dosed intravenously for patients recovering from gastric surgery. It is consumed quickly in the intestines, and is needed to repair intestinal damage caused by celiac...
  21. Here's the reply we recieved this morning. --------------- Dear Dr. xxxxxxxx: Thank you for contacting us concerning Chex cereal. We appreciate the opportunity to address this matter. A cereal that is labeled
  22. Interesting the Beer Bratwurst doesn't contain gluten. Perhaps they use gluten free beer, or did they miss that one?
  23. We run a dental clinic, and have cleaned acrylic retainers for celiac patients concerned with gluten, although they weren't invisalign. Bleach works just fine, but is the more drastic approach. Peroxide could work too, but will take longer. I wouldn't recommend using bleach to clean dental appliances with metal parts.
